Over the years I’ve gone on about the cost of running a football club the size of Celtic. Before you start to employ a footballer, coach, or someone to put the cones out at training, you’ll be pushed to spend less than £17m. If you want to have appropriate resources in place, you’re going to spend more than this.
The club spend a lot of money each year on building maintenance at Celtic Park (have a guess?). The fabric of the building, plumbing, painting the steps, fixing the locks, ensuring electrics and heating systems are safe, costs a small fortune at a stadium that size.
There is a tendency to think of Celtic Park as ‘new’, but it’s not. It recently entered its third decade, and like any building that age, with large areas exposed to the elements, it requires a continuous programme of renewal and repair.
Structural damage can happen to any building during a storm, it’s not necessarily a sign the building’s been under-maintained or is otherwise dangerous. But when parts of the roof hang free over the heads of spectators, as happened at Ibrox last night, lots of things need to be checked. Starting with the maintenance records.
My preference would be that games are cancelled during high winds. Better safe than sorry.
Annual building maintenance cost of Celtic Park is £800k (not counting Lennoxtown or the Superstore). That’s a lot of money to find, if you were scrapping by on emergency loans.

Why not bomb Saudi Arabia, everything Benn said coiuld apply to them,, and they fund IS.
OH i forgot some people make a LOT of money from them.. who’d have thought that!
Corbin is bang on when he suggested that the British should follow the money, strange that this is not an option in the west eh.

The Saudis own lots of america/britain, ie land, business, property etc.
Not so much about oil anymore with the saudis and they keep us well bunged/paid to keep us out of their business.
Maradominic
Mr Cameron and er…British Businessmen, have been supplying arms to Saudi, who have unleashed those weapons in Yemen…..nobody says nothing.
And of course…..some of those weapons go to Da’esh.
So….Britain is arming its own enemies.
Not clever.

Makes perfect sense.
Make money from both sides of the war. Sell arms to the enemy to start the war. Buy arms from your allies to finish the war! Who are the major shareholders in the arms companies that benefit from the sales??
The bush family built there fortune doing this, US senator Prescot Bush (the grandfather to George Dubya) had fingers in all the pies
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2004/sep/25/usa.secondworldwar
for the last 7-8 years on bbc news there has been an item on THE WAR. either first or second. Or stories about brave servicemen (Veterans! – like USA). Everyday!!!!!!! All to soften people up to the use of the army against others and eventually to be used on people here. The Poppy issue is not a natural thing but was organised. Every person on BBC from 1st OCT made to wear one. shoved on sportsmen coming off the pitch.. I reckon only aroun 5% of people I saw wore one. Maximum. Same with minutes silences. Forces day etc.. David Cameron is an odious man. His comment that if you don’t support the bombing then you are backing terrorists is sickening. 2 years ago he wanted to attacked Syrian leaders.
I get the distinct impression that this Tim knows exactly what he is talking about in relation to oil and the Middle East.
Been there and done that.

Assad ignored.
Cameron is the evil one.

ASSAD and CAMERON are evil….both.
Nobody who orders death is innocent.

Fred Quimby 5.00am
“Fred” your posting style is very similar to some bygone posters on this blog; Horrid Henry, Alfie Noakes and Mr Pastry spring to mind.
I’m sure that this is entirely co-incidental……
TGBS
Yeah….I think you may be right.
Fred seems very similar to Alfie Noakes, Thompson Twin etc etc

You have dismissed criticism made by various people on here of the Celtic board on the grounds that they (the CQN posters) haven’t run a business.
Now applying your own logic here, you really should not be commenting on the situation in the Middle East, after all you have never been President or Prime Minister of a country so in your own view you are not qualified to comment on such affairs.
Or maybe your previously stated opinion in relation to this was wrong?
I’m becoming less and less convinced on the guilt of Assad when I look at his accusers and their sources of info/evidence.
Maybe someone can tell me the last time Syria invaded another country ?
The Green Man
I forgot about Thompson Twin. Hard to keep up with just how many alter-egos this character has had on here.
Maybe Mrs Quimby might make an appearance at some point to reassure us that Fred and Mr Pastry are not one and the same :)
TGBS
I noticed Fred was trying to get posters to bite by being obnoxious.
Best ignoring.

It is like Mike Yarwood has been stuck in a time travelling dressing room.
Alfie Noakes, Thompson Twin are the symptoms of mindless boredom.

Morning Bhoys The people have little or no say about going to war once we have voted a politician in he/she can do very much as they like.Even the next election does not bother them unduly as the British public in the main are apathetic and the politician no matter how poor stands a fair chance of being re -elected.We are now bombing Syria and lots of innocent people will be killed and the cost in financial terms will be huge Cameron has a lot to answer for as he follows Blairs footsteps. H.H.
why would anyone be interested in Stan collymore’s take on the bombing of Syria? And why would he think we would be? and why am I posting about it?
Off for a lie doon
The Green Man
I just thought the timing of his (re)appearance was very telling; only hours after TD67 had buried the hatchet with folk and peace had broken out on here up pops a familiar plant with a new name to try and stir things up
Hail hail

Loads of purile agendas at work.
Hunfiltration….sort of, only they don’t have the smarts to engage.
Once you challenge….they vanish quickly.
But, as you say….strange timing.
Somebody is bored.

I expect to see dramatic reductions in attendances at Ibrokes as tens of thousands sign up for the military
Not as important by far as war but , on a CELTIC site, more relevant:
Should Scott Allan start on Saturday?
JJ
I expect to see dramatic reductions in attendances at Ibrokes as the rules on Safety are applied.

Good Man, Jungle Jim, for the record re Scott Allan starting against the Accies. corkcelt says Aye.,
Jungle Jim Hot Smoked
Calum McGregor has two in two and I’m not sure Scott Allan has done enough to displace him from the team..
Although not so fashionable in some Celtic places Calumn is a very direct player from midfield with an eye for goal, I wonder how it would be with both of them as I think Rogic has gone off the boil:)
HH
Forgive me if m slightly more concerned over the bombing of Syria, rather than whether Scott Allan stars on Saturday.
HH
Scott Allen can invade enemy territory and supply the ammunition to destroy them .
2 birds 1 stone
ALLAN Jinky FFS not ALLEN. Why do 90% of CQN persist in spelling the bhoy’s name wrong.;
Think Calum should be played behind Griffiths, no reason why Allan can’t get good 30/35mins.
Goooooooooooooooooooood morning
