It was curious that Peter Lawwell was quizzed on potentially having a conflict of interest in deciding if a recent multiple-convict would be regarded by the SFA as Fit and Proper to direct a football club. The club in question are not even in our league; conflict exists only in the heads of those who persist in believing in a ‘Firm which expired on the liquidation of one party.
I’ve avoided the appropriateness of a recent convict directing a football club as the deciding matters appear overwhelmingly obvious. There are no written rules on being Fit and Proper, largely due to the Mahatma Gandhi question posed by Neil Doncaster last year. Gandhi was a convict, but one of impeccable character. The contemporaneous character references are all important. The SFA will also be chastened by recent experiences.
My guess is that in the unlikely event the Nomads acquiesce, Peter Lawwell’s views will be immaterial. “Nobody likes us, we don’t care” has nothing to do with it, just find someone Fit and Proper!
Delighted that Aberdeen’s quest for silverware survived Fir Park last night. This club have underachieved for around 20 years now but Derek McInnes stands a reasonable chance of delivering second place in the league, as well as the League Cup.
Not so delighted at Hibs capitulation. Just saw Fernando Ricksen on STV terrible disease MND. A good friend of mine diagnosed about a year ago with MND they just said on TV that the average lifespan is around 14 months from diagnosis to death. Wow!

Is it any wonder PL speaks to the media relatively infrequently. Yesterday he mentioned that he exempted himself from discussions on the cup final venue due to conflicts of interest. This is reported as his intention the excuse himself from potential discussions around whether a 41 times convicted tax evader is fit and proper to join the board of another football club. He also mentions that Celtic have asked UEFA for option for CL qualifiers, and before you know it the BBC have been in touch with UEFA and report that Celtics request to play outside Scotland will be declined. That’s a good trick that, declining a request before it has been made.
I’m looking forward to various media outlets similarly addressing the blatant bollix about Rangers being taken out of administration just spouted by Jim McColl. ( when did he quit the Beechgrove Garden anyway?).

I may have missed something in your post re CL and level playing fields,but surely a beamback to CP to 30k x £15 = £450k, not a lot,when we presently share pooled TV money based on millions of TV viewers and we get to sit in the house and/or pubs and spend that £15 on whatever?,thats what those fans do when they dont fancy actually going to games in Italy for instance or do we get circa £15M on gate receipts alone? you never see empty stadia in most CL ties,Italy and East Euro excepted.
Not a Finance expert, but UEFA seem capable of generating money,and FFP may be the way to spread the jam and allow Champions only to play CL football.We can but dream,but meanwhile, back at the bread and butter issue,we want a level playing field.
