The Poste’ always delivers

484

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone, the time has come.  Ange Postecoglou is officially Celtic manager.  It has been a long wait but consistent with Celtic’s typical managerial appointment times (Neil Lennon first got the job on 9 June 2010, despite already being in temp position).

The chapter of our history on Angelos Postecoglou now begins.  I’m only slightly annoyed they didn’t announce it at noon…..  Ange has delivered success beyond expectation wherever he goes.  That will be difficult to achieve at Celtic, where expectations are stratospheric, but hope in our hearts, and all that.

Strap in, it’s going to be a blast.  Best of luck, Ange.

I disagree with your interpretation of Sutton’s reported quote.

I’m old enough to remember Lillee and Thomson and how fearsome they were at their peak.

I think what he means is that he believes Postecoglou is coming into the job with little protection and support from within Celtic Park – akin to being shoved out in front of them pair without pads or a helmet.

I don’t read it as a criticism of Postecoglou as such but more of his employers.

I liked this bit from James Forrest’s blog regrading our new manager

‘He’s crossing two continents to come here, he’s uprooting his whole life.

At 55, this is it for him, a career do-or-die moment.

Yet he’s upped sticks without hesitation.

He’s grabbing it with boths hands, moving himself and his family from all the way on the other side of the world.

Howe wouldn’t move up the M6.’

True – fair play to Big Ange.

I thought SC only started in August 2018 – before that Mahe posted on here for a time. But I could be wrong

  9. Good luck to big Ange, I really hope this works out. It’s more about keeping my fingers crossed, though.

Gene , read it again mate – There was someone else on here today endorsing SENILECELTS. No need to advertise. I joined 10 years ago. – too much cricket in your heid :)

  11. SENTINEL CELTS is a good read.

Great articles and usually about Celtic.

Full support for Ange and his back room team whoever they are.

Anything else and you’re playing into the hands of the Bbc Scotland, the Huns and whatever other enemies, real or imagined.

Post of the day for me!

Easy to spot the huns on here today!

  14. I suppose I should add my tuppence worth of welcome and ‘approval.’

My track record is not too bad:

Going back to the nineties, I thought they would make it ten and simply prayed to a God I didn’t believe in that Wim would be a success and stop it.

Thought Dr Joe had a good background and would be a success.

Thought the ‘Dream Team’ would be the disaster it was.

Was pleased with the appointment of Martin, although somewhat disappointed when I found out who the alternative might have been.

    Was pleased with Strachan’s appointment.

Had serious doubts about Tony Mowbray and opposed Neil Lennon’s first appointment.

Thought Ronny’s appointment was imaginative and was optimistic.

Thought the same as everyone about Rodgers and nearly everyone about NL’s second appointment.

The latest reminds me of Ronny’s but I have a more realistic appreciation that the job is a big one and there are many obviously better qualified candidates. Also the Execs in charge (and the appreciative owner of that ‘fantastic’ club) have shown themselves to be even worse than I had ever thought and might thwart the best.

My hope is that Ange is older and more experienced than Ronny and maybe better prepared for the step up.

Sometimes it’s better to also clutch at straws when your eyes are wide open to the obvious risks.

I wish! ( quickly inserted in between the constant Privacy Notices and pop ups asking me to disable Adblocker Plus )

  16. I don’t post much these days due to life getting in the way, shame but it is what it is, welcome to Ange, for sure he is gonna need it.

Delighted that Pedro is “hopefully” no longer in the picture and Dom can do his bit, we will see, but…..I have this horrible feeling that PL won’t be that far away from the decision making, hopefully am proved wrong, but as ever time is gonna tell.

I am in the he is doomed camp and again hope to be proved wrong.

As for Sentinel Celts, a great site apart from one of the administrators, banned me, but again it is what it is, he doesn’t like it up him, unlike Paul, a stalwart that can take it all day long.

Cave is up for sale if anyone is interested in a quiet retreat in a hun free environment with very little government interventions.

Down points are it’s too effin hot just now, seriously effin hot, it’s the start of June and it hit 44 today, man it was hot, even the pool was warm :)

    Great to see you posting!

Hope life is as good as can be!

Where are you thinking of moving to?

    Back to Scotia?

  18. TET , as I recall you called the host on SC all the names under the sun and did a flounce ! thats a fact bud

  19. Gene-PB………..

Mrs TET doesn’t have too many more breaths to take and wants to be nearer the grandweans for the remainder of them, probably Ireland in bandit country on the border is looking likely, but it all depends on selling here first, we have the builders in sprucing the place up, things that needed doing anyways, so we will see.

  20. TET

    Sorry to here that.

You are both always in my prayers.

    Always.

I hope you get back to God’s country and soon!

    Take care and God bless.

  21. I find it hard to believe that real Huns post on here and pretend to be Celtic supporters. I feel that those who come over as Huns are simply Celtic fans who are very much guided by the MSSM. Of course, they will deny this and say that they can read `papers etc then make their own minds up. I don`t believe we can make our own minds up any more than we could unilaterally decide which language we were going to speak .
