Uefa compliance officer set for SFA next week

618

A Uefa compliance officer will visit the Scottish FA early next week after European football’s governing body were asked to look into what was happening inside Scottish football by people within the German game.  Scottish football has been rocked by allegations of improper registration of players for over a month now.  The SFA recently concluded an inquiry into Rangers without reference to the allegations while the Scottish Premier League have announced an inquiry, but indicate it will not report anytime soon.

Although the allegations have consequences beyond the SPL, including international and European football, the SFA have failed to actively address concerns which could see 12 years of football results rewritten, prompting interest from Uefa.

Me thinks it’s to do with the arrogance of the english, the best league in the world btw.

In the next month or so the euro winning head will be donned and we will get wall to wall england this and england that, and how they will beat everyone and they will triumph.

A little bit of humility goes a long way.

He advised that it would not be presented because the SPL said it would precede the split, but that Celtic were challenging this.

On gate sharing: You read me wrong. I was using the figure to work out the impact, not advocating its use. I pointed out why a 50/50 would not work.

TBB sent me a spreadsheet that I’ll upload. It lets you see the imapct of other ratios.

My weapon of choice is fairer distribution of CL money (if any Scottish team ever qualifies). That would stop the speculate to liquidate argument before the latter came about.

Philvisreturns ……..correct…….the extent of the injustice over a very long period has been the catalyst for the Celtic Family….we have been waiting to pounce for years, and now ‘our day has come’……

They do not know what has hit them…..their arrogance did not take account of our ability to mount a meticulous / relentless ‘challenge’ ……..I have been ‘gobsmacked’ with the intellectual input from CQN posters, Paul, Phil, RTC, etc……

God bless all of you…….we have come a long road, and we are nearly there now on TRUTH & JUSTICE…

Paranoid, ya bunch a twats. ?….I’ll give you paranoid..!!!!!!!

Years of arrogant / unbridled / ill-disguised shafting from the Scottish Football Establishment has lead to this day, and it’s only just the beginning…..

And we’re coming for you next, gang of 10…… have yur wee meetings, but make sure you take accurate ‘minutes’….. you’ll need them for when CQN / KDS etc come calling……and, if you’re not careful, we’ll let the GB loose on you…

    Thanks.

The first thing to mention is that Athletic Bilbao has nothing in its club statutes about only having Basque players because it knows this could be problematic. So this is all much more of a tradition than a written rule. This may sound familiar.

However, I would argue that there is a world of difference between what Athletic do and what Rangers did for decades.

Here is the deal. Yes, the tradition is to have players who are Basque, but contrary to what people think you don’t have to be Basque. You don’t have to be anything. You can be any colour, any religion, any size and have any native language you like. A black lad called Jonás Ramalho played for the first team this season. All right, he was born in Barakaldo, just along the coast from Bilbao, and is Basque, but his father is from Angola. I make the point to show that there is nothing racist about this.

You qualify (seems a strong term, because don’t forget this is all informal), if you are born in any of the territories that the Basques insist make up their homeland. So that means Vizcaya, Guipúzcoa, Álava and Navarra in what today Spain calls Spain, and Basse Navarre, Labourd and Soule in what today France calls France. If you’re born in any of these places, you can play. No questions asked.

The main point is this. For Athletic Bilbao, it’s not that the players must be Basque; it’s that it wants to sign players who have been trained and taught and nurtured in its local game. Therefore, anyone who has come through the ranks at any Basque club is in. No matter where they are from. It’s completely on merit. If you were a Glasgow-born Irishman who happened to get a game as a youth for Sestao and make an impression, Athletic would snap you up without a moment’s hesitation. Football, football, football. It’s only about the football. But it’s about their football, their way, their style, their philosophy. It loathes what Manchester City and Real Madrid do. It despises the concept of flashing a cheque and making football a puppet show. It believes good players are nurtured not lured with piles of cash.

A caveat here is that, as someone mentioned on CQN, this used also to be the philosophy of Real Sociedad, but, even before John Aldridge, Kevin Richardson and Dalian Atkinson signed for them in the 1980s, they had ditched it. And they blamed Athletic Bilbao because La Real was also rearing fantastic young players, only to see lots of them pop along the road for more money when they reached a certain stage in their careers. One of the last examples of this I can remember was Víctor Alkiza. This hurt the Real Sociedad fans more than most because the bould young Víctor was the son of the Real Sociedad chairman at the time.

Watching Athletic wipe the floor with Manchester United twice has been brilliant. I don’t want to commit sacrilege, but being too young to remember Lisbon in 1967, it made me think of the Lions, the bit about the beautiful, flowing football. Because no one thought Athletic Bilbao stood a chance against the flash harries. Lots of people barely knew they existed. But as soon as the ball started buzzing around among their players and their nominal right back turned up on the left wing to cross for their nominal left back to have an attempt on goal, it was only a matter of time before the beautiful, flowing football won the day again. Thanks be to God.

  12. The arrogance of the English gets up my nose as much as anyone here, I lived there for the best part of 20 years.

Financial doping? I hear you and agree 100%.

None of which impacts on my view that Portuguese teams cheat more on the field of play than any others I can think of. Seems like a major part of training and team talks.

Two wrongs don’t make a right and all that.

    Cheers

Neil Lennon is a millionaire. He doesn’t need to put his life at risk for a job.

But he faced down the hate with the same quiet stoicism he has showed for the past 12 years. And the hate blinked first.

Recently we’ve heard much from a certain cheating, tax-dodging, tainted club that they allegedly “don’t do walking away”.

I never mentioned the Portuguesse, but I do agree they are adept at the diving and time wasting, the cup final in Sevilla was one of the worst I have seen, and the scared runt of a ref from one of the Slovac countries had less baws than a sfa official.

No excuse, but they took a massive scalp tonight, no bad for a micky mouse league.

A level playing field, nothing more, nothing less, and the cheating would imo be a thing of the past, maybe I’m a dreamer, but I am allowed to dream.

    I found their behaviour nauseating.

The goalkeeper`s “injury”,following no contact.Miraculous recovery to keep out Hart`s header five minutes later.Shades of Seville.

At least four and a half minutes stolen in the last ten of normal time.

With respect, you never addressed my point about the chairmen who have bent over and allowed things to get where they are today, they are at fault here, and they are the ones who expect our supporters to pick up the tab.

A fair distrubution of the monies available is not a bad thing, but, ffs, why should we just bend over like they have, we have fought long and hard to get what we have, we give it away, a backward step imo.

No mi amigo, a level playing field on the pitch, fair and honest referees will be better than any sharing of our money.

Take the last few weeks for eg, the hun are going blue in the face that thr refs are giving decisions against them that hasn’t happened for years and they can’t handle it, Brines has been as honest as I have ever seen a scottish ref in their games, now I don’t know why this is, but maybes they can see the future and want to be part of it, I hope so.

Sort the referees, sort the problem.
