Week with a sting in the tail

781

The narrative was set for Aberdeen.  After six consecutive league wins without losing a goal, their bubble was burst when they drew with Dundee and St Johnstone, but it hasn’t turned out that way.  They have scored 10 and not conceded in the three league games since.  Out of the Scottish and League Cups, their entire focus is on beating teams less resourceful than them in the league, which is everyone apart from Celtic.

Despite Celtic’s impressive ability to collect points dating back several months, Aberdeen are hanging in there, a remarkable achievement.   The only thing which separates the teams are Celtic’s two 2-1 wins in their previous meetings this season.  From Saturday afternoon Aberdeen’s complete focus will be on their visit to Celtic Park on Sunday.

By contrast, Celtic will return to Glasgow early Friday morning after their trip to Milan.  They will face Aberdeen pretty much as that trip leaves them.

If I was offered a win and a defeat this week, I’d take the win in Milan, but we will need enough in te tank for Sunday’s game.

Thanks to everyone who booked a ticket over the weekend for the CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner on Friday on 13 March at the Kerrydale Suite.  Anyone still to catch up, let me know, celticquicknews@gmail.com

Heard that about the legal action. Think it was over “bin lids” initially (or so it was said).

I always had a lot of time for Maire Jones, thought both of them worked well together.

Thought you might have made it up to the Felons for the Hoot.

I told Jake you might be dropping by.

I was disappointed over their fallout, I had a lot of times for Jones.

Years ago I saw The Blind Fiddler in a wee room in London. It had a fabulous and very subtle insight into how Catholics/Nationalists had to hide themselves in the Northern State, just to exist.

I couldn’t believe that it had not been part of her own, personal background.

Saw that earlier but I feel the Irish Embassy should have went to town on the p*ick demanding his resignation for his comments.

I think those things are handled more subtlety, but I don’t doubt they made it very clear their feelings.

Somethin I didn’t know.. whilst waiting in the tunnel in Lisbon in 67, wee Bertie started “The Celtic Song” and led the players, to the astonishment of the Milan players.. I never knew that!!

Spot on mhate!!.. Yea, everyone has spoken about the atmosphere on Thursday night.. was great to see and hear the Thunder back at Pardise. (well almost everyone, with the exception of the chip wrappers and the parasites living off our name, who try to demean us by reporting ‘doing a lap of honour for a draw against a team we should be beating).

We wont forget that, or you.

Probably missed you now but i am off to milan on wed afternoon from Edinburgh to Brussels then Linate

Hoping to see a bit more of Milan this time but probably just see different bars around Duomo – going with Son, my mate and his son. we are big lhads so if you see us you’ll remember!

last time, got off plane had some dinner then straight to game was after 1am by time we got back to hotel. up next morning, breakfast then home – good trip. Kaka ruined it though:(

  16. My view of Inter is that they are gutless. They are good upfront,of course, but the midfield, and defence, were blowing out of their @ss for the final 25 minutes.Vidic could hardly breathe. When Cagliari were battering them, they were all over the place. And they are a relegation team.If we are as fit as we think, and can defend,we have a chance.

I gather Keevins was forced onto Clyde tonight to eat some humble pie. Hope he choked on it,but I’ll bet he did it in such a way that you know he didn’t mean a word of it.

Many of us on here have followed the courageous battle by Tony Conway, son of RWE,against the devastating effects of ALS/MND.

A truly awful illness, which also robbed us of Jimmy Johnstone.

Tony took the time-and no inconsiderable effort-to keep people informed via his own blog,”dontshrink.com”. It was refreshingly short on anger and despair, and full of love and reminiscence. Never maudling, though!

A fitting tribute to a strong and courageous man is contained below.

  21. Morning Celts,

I thought there would be some interest on CQN re a signed Celtic top auction in aid of a children’s charity, not in vogue I suppose, or maybe it’s got to be a CQN clique type who brings it to the blog (wry grin).
