Week with a sting in the tail

781

The narrative was set for Aberdeen.  After six consecutive league wins without losing a goal, their bubble was burst when they drew with Dundee and St Johnstone, but it hasn’t turned out that way.  They have scored 10 and not conceded in the three league games since.  Out of the Scottish and League Cups, their entire focus is on beating teams less resourceful than them in the league, which is everyone apart from Celtic.

Despite Celtic’s impressive ability to collect points dating back several months, Aberdeen are hanging in there, a remarkable achievement.   The only thing which separates the teams are Celtic’s two 2-1 wins in their previous meetings this season.  From Saturday afternoon Aberdeen’s complete focus will be on their visit to Celtic Park on Sunday.

By contrast, Celtic will return to Glasgow early Friday morning after their trip to Milan.  They will face Aberdeen pretty much as that trip leaves them.

If I was offered a win and a defeat this week, I’d take the win in Milan, but we will need enough in te tank for Sunday’s game.

Thanks to everyone who booked a ticket over the weekend for the CQN11 St Patrick’s Dinner on Friday on 13 March at the Kerrydale Suite.  Anyone still to catch up, let me know, celticquicknews@gmail.com

    Morning all

A couple months back there was a trial in the West Virginia courts. A man was being tried for fornicating with a sheep, since that’s still illegal there an’ all. Anyway, the key witness was an old fella who was walking

along the highway by the farm where the sheep was raised. The prosecutor asked the witness what he saw: “Well, I was walkin’ along, and saw this sheep just’a eatin’ grass. And then this fella walks up from behind the

sheep, real quiet-like.” “And then what?” asked the prosecutor. “Then he unbuckled his belt, and pulled the sheep close.” “And what happened after that?” “Well,” said the witness, “they sorta shook for a couple of minutes. Then, afterwards, the sheep turned around… an’ licked him!” Just then one of the jurors leaned over to the jury member next tohim and said, “You know… a good sheep’ll do that.”

Typical performance.A curate’ s egg of a team. Why can they only play for 75 minutes.Defensive shambles.

Happy with some of it, unhappy with some of it. It seems we like to suffer. When the other team presses , we get too stretched..We need to be more compact. We need to concentrate.”

  6. Good morning CQNers,

I always appear to be on the run these days so not much time to look back, however looking back I did hit on this gem.

I trust James Forrest doesn’t mind if I re-post his 20.26 contribution this morning for anyone who may have missed it.

James Forrest not faffing about and how to deal with irrational people – great post

Great indeed, I had hoped, foolishly, that the latest shame had done for them. As I said on Saturday, they soos realised that racism was one thing they could not sweep under the carpet. So,as ever, the rankd were closed, the laager circled and they get away with it again. Spineless.

A fine morning. With spring light levels and winter temperature levels.

No idea how thus night will pan out.

As for Sunday noticed all 3 aberdeen goals against St Mirren came from big standard crosses to the back post. Not quite route 1, but hardly tic a tacx!. I’d expect carbon copies against izzie and Adam m on Sunday.

I respect aberdeen. We should. But if you were an aberdeen fan would you not be pretty convened about playing against our talents. They should be.

In reply to my own post earlier regarding if one end of our ground sang god save the queen would i boo them…YES i would..my reason..i support an Independant Scotland which , when it comes, will dispatch of this royalty nonsense with haste….of that i have not one iota of doubt…

Booing anyone’s national anthem is hunnish behaviour IMHO.

In your independent Scotland your leaders want to maintain the British Monarchy. In my Republican Britain there would be no Monarchy.

  11. My money is on the SFA demanding the club have an internal investigation and get back with their result, that’s how it usually goes, no ?

  17. TBB,

Good point, forgetting about the balance of probabilities, it was probably, Celtic or Chelsea supporters trying to give the poor wee hun a bad name

  18. Just a pity we were not organised enough to keep the Stan Collymore thing going. Going to the English rather than Scotland I feel the momentum is fading.

  24. It’s time for Lawwell or, whoever troosers yer dough for the day to day running of your club to invite the SMSM to Celtic Park, today and lay it out for them that….

…There is nowhere in the world that you’ll hear the Irish National Anthem being sung with such, passion and identity as you will when the Celtic supporters take it upon themselves to treat us to such a spectacle within Celtic Park and, elsewhere throughout the world as our wonderful fans express their…identity, traditions, roots and belonging through this song and, the ‘add-on’ of a tribute to the Holy Father which, it has to be remembered is a positive contribution, rather than a negative / lower attempt to smear the Holy Father…a man of peace…a deserved recognition of the the highest figure of the church from whom, earlier descendants like, Brother Walfrid gave the world it’s greatest gift from Ireland’s diaspora…that thing called – Celtic Football Club.

We, as custodians / guardians of this wonderful club would eternally encourage our wonderful support to continue with their amazing rendition of this fantastic piece of music and, would ask you…the media and…the public to learn to appreciate that, through their music, our supporters bring nothing but peace and goodwill and, fond remembrance to their traditional heroes…who should rightly be remembered with pride.

Finally…we would like to make it clear that, having illustrated the clubs viewpoint as clearly as it was possible to do, if any one finds that they cant accept our fans expression of their roots then, please dont bother returning to Celtic Park as, press-facilities will no longer be afforded to you and, furthermore…our club ‘s legal-team will be forensically poring over any ‘slanted’ reporting.

    Do you not see this.

There will NEVER be any sanctions on Rangers or any version of them until we get the matter taken OUT of Scotland,

The nearest we have been to getting then sanctioned is when Alex Thompson and Stan Collymore called them out.

Scotland is institutionally racist, bigoted and sectarian and will protect the ‘brand’ till the last breath using all means available. SFA, SPFL, Judiciary, Police Scotland, SNP, BBC Scotland, Radio Clyde, Daily Newspapers.

They will wrestle the issue back ‘indoors’ blame Raith Rovers for selling tickets to Chelsea fans and ‘move on’.

  26. cathedral view,

Agreed, no result or decision will be made until they can drag us into it, if that means they wait 5 months then that is what they will do.
