When an asset becomes a daunting liability

1665

With Ukio Bankas bankrupt there is an acceptance that Hearts, who owe the bank in the region of £15m, will go into administration shortly after the end of the season.  This might not be the case.

Hearts major problem is their major asset, Tynecastle Stadium, which occupies a valuable patch of land in Edinburgh.  If administrators acting on behalf of Ukio have free access to the stadium they may shut it and look to recoup their loans by selling the land.  There is a possibility Hearts could be a football club without a stadium, but that does not necessarily mean they will go into administration.  Without a stadium to use the club would be liquidated but there is a possibility they would be able ground-share.

Hearts tested the land value before the property crash and received an offer of £22m from a house builder.

Alternatively the bank’s administrators could use their considerable influence over how the club is managed to sell their shares or come to some other arrangement (Ticketus, anyone?). When the major creditor has this much control of the company without administration, going through the formal process could actually harm their chances of getting their money back.

I think there is an effort being made by some to drive Neil Lennon out of Scottish football there must be times when he wonders what it would be like to be a football manager without the constant battle with authorities. The powers that be continue to hound him now we all know Neil can be a firey character and that is part of his success and part of his make up but continuely hounding him for the smallest little thing is in my opinion is not only out of order but also little more than a sinister witch hunt. H.H.

  11. T’would be just brilliant if we won the Cup and the team refused to collect it until Lenny was there. Team sitting in Centre Circle, crowd celebrating & singing for Lenny, and the blazers not able to do a thing about it. The more I think about it the more I like it.

  12. From CelticGossip.

The sfa want sevco fast tracked, if they are a member of spl2 then every Celtic fan must unite & demand celtic leaves this corrupt league HH

  17. There will be no SPL2 if that involves the zombies getting an invite, zero chance. The formation of SPL2 needs an 11-1 vote, there is no chance whatsoever of that happening. Raman WISHES not thinks…

Celtic reduce season tickets and they are selling like hot cakes.Sevco not selling season tickets yet.Sevco are being punted to be in SPL2 next season. How will the Celtic supporters walk away now that they have bought their tickets,I wonder? Surely not!!

If you aren’t already aware of it, there’s a good article on the financial chicanery, especially pension fund -raiding at you-know-where in the latest Private Eye.

  30. gordybhoy, There is no way the likes of Celtic & Aberdeen could vote for an SPL2 containing Sevco, there would be an absolute revolution amongst the support. By the way I note Cowdenbeath are one of the teams threatening to resign. Is it not possible that whoever finishes second last in SFL1 could be relegated. In that event I would assume the newly promoted Club would want in too. Anyhow I believe this is much ado about nothing, the Div1 Clubs may want to join the SPL but why would existing SPL Clubs want them without the 3 by 8 split. IMO the status quo will be retained for next year.

  32. If Lenny is banned then go up and get the medals and leave the cup sitting there, tell CO or or whatever to go and stick it on the bus and go and thank the fans.
