Why Hibs are a good bet tomorrow, blaming Ibrox monkeys, not the organ grinder

760

Before you get carried away, let me remind you: Our Premier League record of 25 consecutive wins in season 2003-04 came to an end at home to Motherwell, the game after a memorable European victory over Barcelona. Our 2007 win over European Champions, Milan, was followed by a harrowing game against Gretna at Fir Park, where the soon-to-be-liquidated minnows held the lead until the 87th minute.

The last 10 days have been mentally and physically exhausting for the players: a League Cup quarter-final victory, humbling Newco, then raising the bar further against Anderlecht, all three games away from home. There will be a natural drop-off in endorphins, even the coaches will find it difficult to squeeze determination to climb another summit so soon.

A home game against soft-looking Hibernian is exactly how 57 game unbeaten domestic runs come to an end.

It’s always a bit disconcerting to see the media report a story of discord at Newco, conditioned, as we were, by the blanket of control Sir David Murray shrouded news outlets with while at Oldco. Now news that Brother Pedro has banished Kenny Miller from the Newco first team squad.

Kenny is the innocent party in all of this, apparently. Troubles are the manager’s fault.

Miller, “a guy who lives and breathes Rangers (sic.)”

Miller, “a guy who lives and breathes Rangers (sic.)”

You and I both know that Pedro, Kenny and everyone else at Ibrox are woefully under-resourced to compete at the summit of the Scottish Premiership. That’s the only important part of this story, and the answer doesn’t lie on the pitch or in the dug-out on match days. At best, the person responsible for that is watching games poolside in South Africa.

All that campaigning to unseat the Easdales was for this. It’s a Brexit-style self-delusion, with an inevitable outcome.

Celtic FC Foundation, Great Scottish Run

I can’t tell you him much I appreciate the generous support ahead of the Great Scottish Run this Sunday, for the Celtic FC Foundation.  As I said yesterday, we are not only about winning trophies, and the Champions League, this club is has deep roots in helping our fellow those in need.

I’ve never made porridge in Malawi, or fed the poor in Haiti, not would I know how to engage with Autistic kids, but you and me can do our bit for those who have the responsibility of delivering help where needed.  What I can do is run on Sunday and ask for sponsorship.  If you can help, do so at this MyDonate page.

Thank you.

  1. Celtic FC Foundation donate £10,000 after Mexico’s earthquake

Good work by the Celtic fc Foundation again , taken from the News Now feed .

  2. I think tomorrow could be iffy.

Lenny knows how to set up a team to defend, will be happpy to give us the ball and watch us play across the park all day. His players will be motivated tomorrow ( this has been an ongoing problem at Hibs for years, for lots of reasons) and he has a talented squad.

We will Brown, miss Armstrong, probably rest Jozo and Griffiths and there will be other changes, so it will be a hard shift.

I wish I was going, it should be a cracker

Kenny Miller is going to make a brilliant coach

To replace the one that was burnt.

    ———————————————

Just because Miller had to jump back and forth over the fence a few times it doesnt make him a witch.

Nobody get’s this but Twist and Turns and I do.

Miller’s their strongest character and his strength lies in everything he learned at Celtic. Stick the boot into t Der Hun whilst down and sign him.

  4. Broonie and Armstrong out of Scotland squad…I guess some of somebody’s prayers are being answered…

  5. Not the first time “Kenny Miller” and “missed opportunity” have starred in the same sentence.

Not for me….plenty other suitable candidates available if we need a striking coach.

  6. The huns regard Miller as disloyal.

A troublemaker who is doing everything he can to undermine his manager.

And leaking info to the press.

The idea that they would be anything other than delighted if Celtic were stupid enough to take him on in any capacity is so ridiculous that you have to ask why anyone would suggest it.

There’s an obvious answer, though there may be others.

  7. SIONNACH ABU

You think Kenny Miller would be a great coach for Celtic?

Do you know anything – anything at all – about his life away from the game? A good coach has to be a good role model and should be beyond reproach. That isn’t Miller.

I will stick with Kolo Toure I think.

  8. Miller for Celtic?

We already have a tea lady.

An average player who was made better by Scottish hun refs tolerances .

With us he scored 7 games in 33 matches.

Went to Wolves and scored 50 in 162.

Returns to huns and scores 49 in 81.

On final hun stint in 2014 he scores 32 in 100 appearances.

So with us he scores at a ratio under25%

    Wolves just under 33%

    Huns around 66%

And in twilight Hun stint just under 33%

Hi ratios with huns suggest as i have always said that he was helped by refs approach to hun teams.

It is noticeable that the same defender who against Celtic is glued to our strikers back is standing a yard off a hun attacker allowing him time and space for shot.

The defenders in spl understand the differing ref tolerances when playing Celtic or huns.

This is what made an average player look way better than the actuality.

He is a bitter wee hun who is in an ideal place.

The above reasons have also elevated Morales who will be a disappointment to whoever purchases him.

  9. As much as I love to see the tribute act getting pumped, hope they get a result tonight to keep brother Pedro in a job so that we continue to get a laugh from that lot. It would also make the Tango man and the other senior cloggers look worse in this embarrassment

  10. SIONNACH ABU

Maybe he could have it finished when all the big boys are off playing Benfica in Canada?

Meccano can be very time consuming, from menory, and it looks like he will have plenty of time on his hands

  11. Miller was a useful player for Old Rangers and Scotland in his prime. Tons of energy and a bit of pace, tended to raise his game on the big occasion. His longevity is commendable but then he spent a few seasons in lower leagues and the more leisurely MLS as he got into his 30s.

But really, his technique and awareness mark him out as a very, very average player. It’s instructive that many in this country believe our captain gets away with more than his fair share on a pitch while “Kenny ” is lauded by media and ex pros, despite continually haranguing and abusing refs into giving decisions his way every team he has pulled on a blue shirt !

Anyway, it’s the end for both him and Pedro down Govan way, only a matter of time.

  12. CAMBHOY on 29TH SEPTEMBER 2017 2:48 PM

Can they afford to sack Pedro?

And what about all the players he’s signed? What happens to them?

  13. Whenever I read of troubles in Govania I think “Hell mend them”.

However after a number of years Ive concluded Hell is Hell bent on mending them eternally.

  14. Just shows you cant believe everything on internet.

Phil has been claiming for months a spat between factions in dressing room.

He has been telling us for months Kenny Miller was chief culprit

Well low and Behold the daily record is claiming an exclusive on this

    spat..

Phil call yourself an investigative journalist

you should hang his head in shame…

  15. I wasn’t too worried about coping with Hibs tomorrow but Brown and Armstrong are both match winners. They will be missed.

  16. TOMMY JOAD

Haranguing refs is a small part of Millers indiscretion’s.

He has a tendency to leave his foot in, arrive late to catch his opponent and two feet off the ground lunges.

All of the above are followed by hands up and the quiet word in his ear with no punishment .

A despicable cheat in the perfect place for someone of his character.

  17. Fan-a-tic,

Agreed, nasty element to his game at times as well. Bad one Armstrong at CP last season springs to mind and not even a yellow if memory serves.

We’ll find out how much our players prioritise Celtic over the next 14 days. It should make for interesting viewing and reading.

Can you use OMG on CQN?

    ****

Stringer … if you are on OMG at the moment, I think (well, I would hope) that there are other websites that you would be looking at.

(nb. … OMG is the street name for a drug containing sildenafil, so it is the poor man’s version of Viagra.

with your screen name, I would think you would be well versed on this stuff!

    :)

anxious moment … could this be my first yellow card?!

    just joking, of course, mate!
