Write your own headlines as Celtic work below radar

1442

Peter Lawwell told Sky Sports he’ll not be rushed into making an appointment.  Football goes on holiday for the next few weeks as players, managers and (under normal circumstances) CEOs kick back before minds turn to preseason and transfers.  Even if Celtic appoint a manager tomorrow, his plans for next season will progress little in the immediate future, but the task is being addressed with some urgency.

The best insight I can offer is that the bookies and media know Sweet Fanny Ally about what is going on.  Know that when Celtic start to talk to a candidate, the first thing they will insist on is radio silence, so if the aspiring manager is talking to a jouno, chances are he’s not talking to Celtic.  The club will attempt to do as much work below radar as possible, but between now and the day of an appointment, newspapers will splash their latest ‘favourite’ to get the job over their covers in an attempt to get you buy.  You’d be better picking your own candidates and writing your own headlines.

I’m going to wallow a bit in European glory tonight.  All those photos of the Lions back in Lisbon has been inspiring.  What great man, what a great history they’ve given us.

I kind of get the feeling that NL and PL were playing poker. NL couldn’t see he was going to get what he wanted but kept hoping until the last minute that he would, and PL thinking NL would cave in.

That would at least explain why NL had seemingly been suggesting to some people he was for the off weeks before it happened and the Club being caught on the hop when it did actually happen.

A bit reminiscent of Jackie Mac’s departure.

At least we are no longer fed directly by Peter his made up corporate babble to address any given situation.

    Hand to mouth. Information dissemination.

Problem is the support have now accepted that with regards the finances.

Although they know really that its an Old Firm realignment excercise. Peer pressure I presume feeds the denial.

With BT taking over the TV rights for the Champions League next year, with a corresponding increase in payouts, even to the Scottish Champions, it was even more important to try and maintain our European profile in the season ahead. With the 2-3 additions Neil wanted, no sales, and the advance of 2-3 of our younger players, Celtic could qualify for the Champions League, and possibly still be in the knockout stages in Europe in the New Year That I believe was Neil’s vision, sadly it is not one shared by Peter Lawwell.

  13. At the moment,I like the look of our team.If big Fraser goes,it wont really alter the team too much.Getting £10 million for him, would allow us to buy eg,Snodgrass,£4 million reputedly.I would also buy eithe Ciftci,or May,£1 million.£5 million spent,£5 million banked

This team would I think get us to the CL.

    Snodgrass,Broony,Commons,Johansen,

I know this is only my idea, but keeping the ball, keeping it tight is something we must learn.

Greenpinata. You of course are right free tuition and free prescriptions have to be paid for. The difference up here in this progressive, beautiful wee country is that we share the cost more fairly.

The first thing this Unionist Government did was reduce tax for the very wealthy; and increase tax for the less well off. Vat and Bedroom.

I will also mention that once again our brother workers down south voted heavily in favour of right wing and extreme right wing parties. Something that just does not happen in our progressive and beautiful wee country.

Final point. Without the support of our working class brothers in England Thatcher or Cameron could never get in.

Your last statement. How do you know that?

Would you like me to put it to Celtic at the Supporters Forum?

That is what it is for. To address issues that concern the support.

The underlying question is not so much why Lenny left but what factors influence the size of the player budget.

Do they make sense in light of the positive aspects of CL rewards?

We might not agree with the factors as Celtic see them but at least we can get away from the idea our vision is to depend on the revival of Rangers.

For a million reasons I sincerely hope not.

  19. Astonished at the number of fholk who have an unfettered believe in the absolute details of Neil Lennon and Peter Lawell beliefs and thoughts based on a long distance view of their actions …….

Neil Lennon has had ample opportunity to state explicitly his reason for leaving, apologies for missing the ‘piece to camera’ where he stated he was leaving because he was unhappy about ; the playing budget, the OF stance of the board, selling of GS etc, etc ad nauseam.

In football terms , in my view Neil had taken the team as far as he could and that a fresh face and ideas would do no harm at all. Neil has been very gracious in his exit and good luck to him , but some of the nonsense on here about why he left is red-top rubbish.

It has been proven that selling our best players does not affect our chances of qualifying for the CL in the main. That allows a lot of scope for European football failure.

Failure for the happy clappers would be losing the SPL . Glaring arithmetic inability for all to see

The safety nets above this is

    CL qualification

    Europa League qualifcation

That fails sell players before buying other players.

Maximum period of dissatisfaction and what therefore what should be minimised. Being out of Europe before ST sales.

I’ve read people on here posting that the bigotry is drifting away…no, they are just more sleekit with it now.

I’m personally in dispute with a sectarian management that finds it acceptable for a manaGER to display a divider and compass as his screensaver.

I posted the day Lenny left, that a poster posted the reasons Lenny left, and he told you all where he got his info.

Only one poster picked him up.

Lenny left cos of financial and personal reasons, the bigots he could handle, not being free to go for a beer bothered him.

Getting his best players sold and shite brought in bothered him.

Having his budget reduced bothered him.

Having players he wanted to keep sold on bothered him.

I’m of the same mind and reckon with not too much of a spend and with minimum disruption, qualification is more likely than not.

I think the disruption factor is key. It takes new players time to gel in a team.

The less new guys the lower the risk of significant team performance reduction.

I thought moving Ledley on was an indicator of learning from last summer. His replacement knows his way around by now.

Pukki might be good enough and come good. Write off Balde and Boerrigter we have bought duds before and will again.

Sneddon would tell us the media were talking crap when they introduced the budget as a reason for Lenny moving idea in spite of nothing in the club statement to suggest it.

I mean who believes anything coming from the smsm?

Poor bloggers on paper with no time to think ideas through, no time to research and an agenda to promote.
