You are in Scotland, wise up

Glasgow and Edinburgh have four stadiums with a capacity of 50,000 people or more: Murrayfield, Hampden, Celtic Park and Ibrox.  Hampden will be under lease to Uefa at the time of the Scottish Cup Final on 22 May.  This arrangement permits games to take place but prohibits fans from attending.

The Scottish Government (I’m not a fan, but to their credit), would almost certainly permit fans to attend, as their example-setters in London have already indicated they would do the same before that date.  Given this opportunity to have thousands of fans at a showpiece game, if you were in charge of the SFA you would move it from Hampden to Celtic Park, Ibrox, Murrayfield (my preference).  If necessary, you would move it to Cliftonhill to permit “the lifeblood of the game” to be in attendance.

However, you are not in charge of the SFA.  Given a choice between holding the Cup Final with fans at another venue, or holding it at an empty Hampden, the Association decided on the latter option.  These people!

Five Newco players were caught, red handed, breaking restrictions on Valentine’s Day.  They are free to face Celtic on Scottish Cup duty next weekend, nine weeks later.  Thanks to the SFA, suspensions will kick in days later.  Celtic broke zero restrictions in January, but rules were changed on-the-fly by the aforementioned Scottish Government, forcing Celtic to play two games at a critical time of the season without 16 players.

Don’t try to wreck your brain looking for fairness or consistency here, you’re in Scotland, wise up.

Slippy G starting to take the piss now, he said ‘in Dubai social distancing rules were clearly broken & nothing was done’

Now did we not have half the team self isolate on return and missed two games?”

Was it only half our team? I thought it was more.

  2. Rumours that the 2nd Rangers have bestowed themselves with Phil the Greeks history and titles.

  3. The whole mgt search process is crazy nowadays , it sort of sickens you to the chancers who inhabit modern football.

I suspect that Howe’s agent gobbing off ought to rule him out of the job ….. gut feeling he’s not the right guy for us ….

  4. I kinda feel the same about Howe, why is this “workaholic” just jumping straight in, he can find out all he needs to know by picking up the phone to Neal and Brendan.

So that reluctance to get started really puzzles me, he would effectively have a free shoot and 6 plus games to work out who he wants to keep, and who he wants to bring.

  5. Very poor comments and amusement on someone’s death. It will come to you too. I’m sure you’ve all had a perfect life so no worries.

  6. Thought the Duke would nave made the century. Enjoying Augusta and the excellent Butch Harmon the Vietnam vet on commentary.

Has Eddie Howe chickened out yet, the heat expected in the Celtic kitchen may prove too much of a daunting prospect, a bit different to avoiding the bottom three in the EPL.

  7. Maybe, just maybe, Eddie Howe is sticking to his word to his family and taking a year out of football. BTW, I don’t know either way, most probably like everyone else on the blogs. Time will tell – but of course a statement to that effect would end the speculation if, indeed, that is the proposed way ahead.

Excellent – made me smile/smirk anyway.

HEADTHEBALL I take no JOY out of anyone’s death (well, OK Thatcher might have been an exception), but it makes me boke listening to/watching the condescending crud appearing on our radios and TVs that passes for ‘respect’ for a guy who, let’s face it, lived a life of utter entitlement for decades, largely paid for by for by working men and women up and down the country who had no access to even a sniff of the lifestyle he lived.

  9. Kennedy didn’t say enough should just gave called it out for what it is..cheating…bias

  10. Why were no games suspended…on both occasions…. Celtic a games were suspended as a punishment

That prk Gerrard just said Celtic broke the rules in Dubai, with SD and drinking? WTF is he on about? The SMSM don’t have the balls to ask about Arfield’s party

Why do you care about a guy who has consorted with Nazis? Protected a paedophile? Led a life of luxury off the backs off ordinary people? Dodged taxes and responsibilities all his life?

And that’s only the stuff we know about, God knows what else he has got up to. So instead of trying to take the moral high ground on here ask yourself why the hell do you care? Is it a genuine feeling or is it because your emotions are being influenced by the establishment?

And incidentally, I don’t think there are jokes being made about him personally, people are poking fun at the bullshit hysteria being manufactured by the pathetic right wing and forelock tugging press and political classes.

  13. It’s comments like “Scotland mourns the death …”. No it doesn’t….lucky if a dozen or so people knew him….how can you mourn …sad for people who lose a family member or friend…not someone who you know nothing about… Same as football. ..it’s mainly media reactions that do my head in..not the actual teams…people

In respect of Thatcher, she died on a Monday, the day after my birthday

Me and The Squiress had the Monday off work and had been booked into a nice wee French restaurant at the top of Hope Street.

We decided to mark the occasion by upgrading from a couple of bottles of rid to champagne

Our waiter was rather bemused when we told him why.

    Ding Dong !!!

Hope your Aintree is going well, couple ew bits and pieces for me and the Mullins winner today 😃

Just noticed this comment, if I’m reading it properly then if a host can’t guarantee fans in attendance then they will be bulleted.

‘Munich, Rome, Bilbao and Dublin have been unable to give firm guarantees and have until April 19 to provide information to UEFA or risk the games being moved.’

    Well said.

  24. Far too much irreverence on here, lets remember his many diplomatic triumphs

“If you stay here much longer, you will go home with slitty eyes,” he remarked to 21-year-old British student Simon Kerby during a visit to China in 1986

“I thought it was against the law these days for a woman to solicit,” he told a woman solicitor

“How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to pass the test?” he asked a Scottish driving instructor in 1995

“You can’t have been here that long, you haven’t got a pot belly,” said to a British tourist in Budapest , Hungary in 1993

“You managed not to get eaten then?“ he asked a British backpacker who trekked through Papua New Guinea in 1998

“Do you still throw spears at each other?” he asked Aboriginal leader William Brin at the Aboriginal Cultural Park in Queensland in 2002

“I don’t think a prostitute is more moral than a wife, but they are doing the same thing,” he said confusingly in 1988 when discussing blood sports

“Who do you sponge off?” he asked women at a community centre in Barking and Dagenham in 2015

“The Philippines must be half empty, you’re all here running the NHS,” he said to a Filipino nurse at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital in February 2016
