You are in Scotland, wise up

Glasgow and Edinburgh have four stadiums with a capacity of 50,000 people or more: Murrayfield, Hampden, Celtic Park and Ibrox.  Hampden will be under lease to Uefa at the time of the Scottish Cup Final on 22 May.  This arrangement permits games to take place but prohibits fans from attending.

The Scottish Government (I’m not a fan, but to their credit), would almost certainly permit fans to attend, as their example-setters in London have already indicated they would do the same before that date.  Given this opportunity to have thousands of fans at a showpiece game, if you were in charge of the SFA you would move it from Hampden to Celtic Park, Ibrox, Murrayfield (my preference).  If necessary, you would move it to Cliftonhill to permit “the lifeblood of the game” to be in attendance.

However, you are not in charge of the SFA.  Given a choice between holding the Cup Final with fans at another venue, or holding it at an empty Hampden, the Association decided on the latter option.  These people!

Five Newco players were caught, red handed, breaking restrictions on Valentine’s Day.  They are free to face Celtic on Scottish Cup duty next weekend, nine weeks later.  Thanks to the SFA, suspensions will kick in days later.  Celtic broke zero restrictions in January, but rules were changed on-the-fly by the aforementioned Scottish Government, forcing Celtic to play two games at a critical time of the season without 16 players.

Don’t try to wreck your brain looking for fairness or consistency here, you’re in Scotland, wise up.

  1. St Stivs , the last I heard Anton and his wife , live in Oxford. I believe Oxford United were the last team he played for. His wife was Terry Cassidy’s personal assistant.

I was told by someone I know , Anton has never been back to Celtic Park since he left.

I worked in St Anne’s for a spell and would go to some Blackpool games , Anton was their left back. Dundee United manager , Micky Mellon , was one of his team mates.

Airdrie and Killie fans I worked with were in the casino one night .They saw Anton and started giving him a slagging but he gave back as good as he got. They said they had been to a few Blackpool games and were going to get tickets for the Blackpool v Man City league cup game the next week. Anton said he would get tickets sorted out for them. True to his word , Anton sorted out complimentary tickets for the two of them.

Anton is a cult hero . He suffered two separate leg fractures before joining us. He made daft mistakes but always gave his all. It was so good he scored against the now defunct club in front of the defunct club’s fans at Celtic Park thirty years ago.

Are you aware that Auldheid has no time for your man Lawwell?

Due to Lawwell asking Auldheid for the ‘smoking gun’ regarding res 12, and then burying the evidence.

How any Celtic fan can stick up for Lawwell after that is beyond me.

    =============

I had look, the words used were a “Dougie Dougie” moment. The meeting was referred to in a later e mail to Tony Hamilton in Lawwell’s absence.

This is an extract from an article about the latest cost to the public purse caused by the conduct of the police and prosecution service in Scotland.

Frank Mulholland fights back in the latest installment of the Great Scottish Ferret Sack Fight.

“In the aftermath of the calamity that befell Rangers in 2012, it was clear that one way or another the affair was going to end up in Scotland’s courts.

The tangled tale raised the prospect of a 21st century version of Charles Dickens’ “Bleak House”, which centres on a never-ending court case.

Who could have guessed it would lead to a High Court judge and former lord advocate giving evidence on oath in the Court of Session? Even Dickens would have struggled to make that up. No-one can remember such a thing happening before.

Lord Mulholland was in charge of the Crown Office when seven men were arrested during a fraud investigation into events at Rangers. Only one ended up in front of a jury. Craig Whyte, the saga’s pantomime villain, was found not guilty after a seven-week trial in 2017.

Business consultant David Grier worked as an advisor for Mr Whyte when he took over Rangers in 2011. Mr Grier was arrested in 2014 and cleared by a judge two years later.

Mr Grier says his arrest had a catastrophic impact on his career. He’s suing the current lord advocate for £5m and Police Scotland for £2m.

The Crown has already admitted that three of seven men were subjected to “malicious” prosecutions and paid out £21m in damages with more to come. It’s fighting Mr Grier’s claim that the same thing happened to him.

In February this year, Lord Mulholland’s role in the affair drew sharp criticism from Conservative MSPs in the Scottish Parliament. The judge issued a statement saying it was “an unfounded personal attack”.

The stage was set for today’s hearing but anyone expecting courtroom fireworks would have been disappointed.

Lord Muholland took the oath, answered questions about procedure and said he’d had a supervisory role in the process. He denied his hands had been “on the tiller.”

His fellow judge Lord Tyre will decide whether David Grier was another victim in what is already the most expensive scandal in the history of the Crown Office.”

God, I’d almost forgotten that and had to look it up on youtube. Here it is, Anton scoring against them. Although what is truly shocking is that the free kick was given instead of playing advantage.

    Well, not that shocking…

Good to see John Kennedy calling out the Sevco Football Association. Why is the Board silent? For example that useless Chairman.

*The same reason that Roy McGregor is when John Hughes is calling for transparency, or Clarence and fat boy when slippy is rabbitin on.

There are instances all over the fitba world when managers/coaches speak tae the media but let’s not let that get in the way of a pot shot against our largest shareholder, Chairman or CEO.
