Your Celtic Foundation and the fuel crisis

521

Your Foundation has today committed £400k to help those in fuel crisis in Scotland.  £49 fuel vouchers will go to around 6,200 households, reaching 17,000 people.  A further 500 people will receive a winter care pack worth £100.

None of us really know what the world is in for this winter, but fuel bills have pushed so many on low or no incomes over the brink.  Families are choosing between heating and food, and forgoing the use of things life stairlifts for the disabled in an effort to hold their lives together.

Everyone who has put money in a Celtic FC Foundation bucket collection, bought a badge or contributed in any way, should be very proud of what they have achieved here.  Winter always brings a surge in demand for the Foundation’s work.  This project, in partnership with the Fuel Bank Foundation, is only a part of what will be done in your name in the months ahead.

What started in 1888 remains a very live and active part of being Celtic.  Well done to all.

Hard to disagree with what Scotland’s greatest ever comedian (even better than Chic Murray) had to say about Frankie Boyle.

“I do find Frankie Boyle offensive .He’ll write a joke, or someone will write it and give it to him, and he’ll do it without any thought. It’s like someone quoting something without even understanding what it is they’ve quoted.”

  2. There is no fuel crisis — just rampant profiteering by rapacious capitalists.

Follow the money — they are dancing in the streets of Riyadh / Qatar / Moscow as we speak.

If we are paying stupid money for energy someone is making stupid profits.

  3. Billy is quite supportive of Frankie. He said :_

“I think Frankie Boyle’s very funny. People do the humour that’s of its time, and that’s what they should be doing. If you don’t like it, move your thumb, press the other button on the remote, and he’s out of your life forever.”

Where did that little nugget come from?

My thoughts are that FB is a better writer than he is a comedian.

Didn’t think he had a booster club behind him writing his stuff.

On artificial surfaces, you are absolutely correct. Looked up a Scotsman piece from May 2021 not a hope in hell of it changing😕

There is a fuel crisis good sir. People will die this winter because of it.

  7. Public Information notice / in case it was missed first time round.

Police have closed High Street — traffic chaos is all the chat — seemingly there is a crowd of well turned-out older ladies dressed in black trying to cross the road pushing wheelchairs with a view to ram-raiding a pub.

The police are mystified as to the reason for this strange behaviour.

There are weather presenters involved — they want to attend to their fan club that is in some sort of distress.

    Not good.

Love this line to end the post that we really shouldn’t be having to read in this day and age.

  9. Frankie Boyle’s schpiel on Keanu Reeves the other night was so far off being funny his audience almost laughed. Needs to get back on the booze. Fast!. Give me Jonathan Watson any day of the week. Watched an old episode of The Fast Show on BBC4 last night, still very funny. Oh and Arabella Weir was on it, kinda Scottish and also very funny then and now. Lately to be found Two Doors Down (not literally!) alongside, amongst others, you guessed it, Jonathan Watson.

  10. `Hard to disagree with what Scotland’s greatest ever comedian`

Surely that is subjective? In my lifetime, Billy Connolly is/was miles ahead of anyone else.

I am not a Frnkie Boyle fan but I have heard the odd one or two quips that were funny.

Anyway, go on ernie. Who was Scotland`s finest comedian?

As I said, Scotland’s greatest ever comedian, Jerry Sadowitz.

When I read that, I thought it was an Aipple post and I was greatly surprised…..then I saw who the real poster was and was not surprised at all.

So, in a very rare response to Madmitch let me ask:

Is it not possible that there is a fuel crisis and it has been caused by the rapacious capatilists? ie the two are no mutually exclusive?

  13. BSR and Melbourne Mick, thanks for the Bermuda stuff.

The pictures I have are from the 1970 trip, we seemed to like going there at that point

  14. ‘Led Zeppelin are so old they’ll be singing “Stairlift to Heaven” next’

Stop! No laughing at the back!

    No, seriously folks….

  15. If you can’t afford to heat your home then you’re in a fuel crisis. Doesn’t matter how it’s caused.

  16. HOT SMOKED on 28TH OCTOBER 2022 5:36 PM

    Jery sadowitch?

J have you ever attended a Jerry Sadowitz, of course, one that wasn’t canceled

“What started in 1888 remains a very live and active part of being Celtic.”

The real CQN community has played its part in that continual journey since 1888, its the best part of CQN from local charities to building soup kitchens in Malawi, to all those who attended and supported the events, cap doffed.

  18. I met Jerry Sadowitz a while back

“That’s an interesting accent you’ve got Jerry, New Jersey?”

No, got it for a birthday present a while back!”

“Stop Jerry you’re cracking me up….”

  19. LIONROARS67 on 28TH OCTOBER 2022 5:41 PM

No, I have only seen him on Youtube and, as I said, I found some of his stuff quite funny but Scotland`s Greatest Ever? I`d put Big Jimmy ahead of him !

Anyway, nipping out for a pint.

    Cheerio for now.

  20. HS @ 5.29

I fear the power of critical / constructive thought has left your house / street / post code.

There is no fuel crisis just egregious market manipulation and rampant profiteering.

Hype / heat not light from the news media to scare the plebs fartless followed by rapacious capitalists doing their thing.

One thing for sure — inflation — RS is to blame.

Him and BoJo spaffed money up against any wall that their city pals / school buddies could access in any halfway legal means — the made the Barber boom look like a paragon of virtue and foresight.

  21. Rumour has it Rangers are sending Gio out dressed as a pumpkin this weekend hoping he’ll turn into a coach

  22. Tom McLaughlin on

I know exactly what Madmitch means. He just doesn’t know how to get his message across.

  23. Jerry Sadowitz hates Frankie Boyle because of the money he’s made on the back of stealing his act. I think FB has his moments and his act has got better but it’s a pale imitation of JS

I’ve seen him every year for a long time, it’s almost a duty now because I know how little money he makes from his comedy, but he’s also a top drawer card magician. He’s got a gig in a big venue in London for the first time in years on the back of the controversy in Edinburgh so it’s worked out well for him

I saw him in a small pub with 50 people recently. Hes still the funniest person I’ve ever seen but I’m nearly at point where he’s too offensive for me now.

  24. G @ 6.03

Hopefully you get the time to work out the viewpoint I have been pushing regarding the current spike in energy costs.

The poor are getting stiffed and the rich are making sure the gravy train stops at their door.
