Charlie is back, did he ever go away?

673

So Charlie’s back.  Did he ever really go away? I suspect not.  Sevco Scotland/The Rangers FC/Rangers International is Charles Green’s project.  He was the guy who picked the pieces up from the Rangers liquidator.

He was the guy, through liberal use of words like ‘bigotry’, ‘No surrender’ and ‘Dallas Cowboys’ managed to convince thousands of people to buy into a version of reality which convinced them to spend money.

He cut a deal with the compliant Ally McCoist to shift tickets in 2012, then did the same with Walter Smith in 2013, and co-opted a variety of flunkies to the cause along the way.  The £22m raised at an IPO was down to him.  No one else would have been able to achieve the latter feat, and he is needed again.

The move only appears audacious to those who have not been paying attention.  When Green bought Rangers assets two years ago, the game was up.  Those assets would be bled green, white and gold in order to provide as large a return on investment as possible.  Nothing has changed.

What is needed at Ibrox right now is someone to pitch up saying, “Bigotry, No surrender, forget what I said earlier, it’s the same club, now buy your ticket, you tell them Ally/Walter/whoever next”.  Charlie is perfect for this job.

The reality that existed pre-2012 is gone.  That club’s assets were bought from a liquidator and are now masquerading around the lower leagues of Scottish football.  Those who stepped forward, paid their money, and in doing so, actually gave thousands of people a club to support, are in charge – as is their right.

This is not a good thing if you have an affinity with that club, but it’s better than having Ibrox “razed to the ground” (remember Bomber Brown’s warning), so no matter what fans think of Charles Green, it’s time to accept his reality: Rangers were liquidated, fans were not organised, wealthy fans declined to step forward, the assets were bought by people who WILL make a financial return and Charles Green is one of the few people with an idea of how to deliver this.

    Hi Fellow Celtic Fans,

I stayed up late last night to watch the Argentina Game and was rewarded with Messi’s stunner of a goal! :-) I hope our new Manager and his still-to-be announced Number 2 will provide the (new and regenerated) players and environment to dish up similar sensational goals next season.

I was disappointed that Emilio was surrounded by a team of cloggers, but I suppose that mentality is good training for the SPFL this season and especially next.

Have we made any signings yet? I guess this World Cup is providing a good smokescreen to let our Management Team get on with preparing for the CL Qualifiers?

    Yours in Celtic,

    TB&F.

P.S. Looking forward to the WImbledon CSC night on Saturday!

  2. Charlie’s reappearance does not bode well for Hun fans… there is no money to be made on the business only the assets.

Is it possible to return a season ticket for a refund?

  3. Anybody heard anything from Twists n’ Turns recently? I see Genny Wren is down to run on Wednesday night.

  4. I would be delighted to welcome back John Collins to Paradise.

He appears to me to be the consummate professional and will have the players fit for the fight.

John has an excellent Celtic pedigree and along with The Maestro carried out team through the Hun cheating years.

Very articulate and vastly experienced , earning good reviews for his work with the national u19s.

    Welcome home Johnnie Bhoy

  5. Ghuys n Ghals,

This Thursday I will drive all the way over to the east coast of Scotland. I will get on a series of trains that will take me all the way over to the west coast of Scotland.

I’ll then spend the next 2 days pedalling all the way back to where I had left my car in the first place. If you’re thinking this all sounds a wee stooopid then I’m with you!

If know that there are loads of good causes and that money is tight….but if you have a wee bit of loose change you’d like to share via the link below then I promise it will be going to an excellent cause in support of people affected by lung conditions. That equates to on average 1 in 5 of us though as you can imagine in many areas in Scotland and Ireland it’s far higher than that.

Kate and Gerry McCann criticise former police chief who led hunt for Madeleine

Gonçalo Amaral is causing us more pain, say parents of missing girl after he delays Portuguese libel action by sacking lawyers

Kate and Gerry McCann have criticised the former police officer in charge of the hunt for their missing daughter after he delayed their libel action against him again.

Kate McCann said every delay caused by Gonçalo Amaral, who sacked his legal team at the last minute, “causes us more pain and distress”.

They are suing for libel over claims he made in his book The Truth Of The Lie and had travelled to Portugal to deliver personal statements on how accusations in the book were affecting them.

The McCanns were originally told they could not make statements to the long-running trial at Lisbon’s Palace of Justice, but the decision was overturned after an appeal by their lawyer.

Outside the court in Lisbon, Gerry McCann said: “We’re exasperated that the hearing has been cancelled once again at Mr Amaral’s request. This is the fourth time this has happened and we’ve travelled to Portugal. The legal case has been running now for over five years and we want to get justice for Madeleine.”

He added: “Today is a blatant and cynical attempt to wear us down and it’s Madeleine who is suffering. We’re not going to give up – we’re going to keep going.”

the along the line view did not provide a proper view as it was slightly angled. how could i tell. Well look at again. You can see a touch of the far post in the shot that was supposed to be straight along the line. Now if it were straight along the line said post would be fully hidden from view.

    I don’t doubt the technology.

One thing though. i am glad that in an Independent Scotland we do not use those nets. Can you imagine the amount of goals our refs would give that look like they are in but urny?

Maybe Charlie’s back because in order to sell a property – such as, say, Murray Park – you need to have ra deeds. And maybe, just maybe, when the current board went to fetch them from the Ibrox safe, they wurnae there.

‘Whaur’s ra deeds?’ they cried, like Ra Bommur before them.

‘Les deeds sont en France, at Chateau Vert’ came the ghostly reply.

It’s not all good news though. If Chazza comes back, surely the World’s Most Successful Rookie Manager will, as a man of honour and integrity, have to walk away.

    Oh, wait…
