5 point lead gave false comfort

247

A two-goal win for Hearts on Saturday lunchtime would be enough to move them into second in the table.  It would be reassuring to have an early opportunity to restore our five-point lead at the top of the table.  Another possibility is that Newco win at Tynecastle to go top, for a few hours at least.

Irrespective of how well our season has started, defeat in Paisley last time out suggests that five-point lead gave us some false comfort.  If they get through Saturday intact, Newco have the comfort of knowing that within the first seven games, they have already played away against four of the other five clubs in the top half of the table.  They have significantly fewer challenging periods ahead.

We were in a far worse situation this time last year, when we comforted ourselves with the knowledge that we had almost certainly come through our most difficult period.  With many eyes on the Champions League game on Wednesday, we first need to get the job done against Motherwell.

Baby boomers / 63-65 in Glesga for some odd reason.– it is P/head not CP.

CP is a late 80’s Yuppy invention when someone read the address in full.

I blame the Centenary Season for all the CP nonsense.

    P/head it is.

Personally I have never called it Celtic Park. It will always be Parkheid for me no matter its official title.

“And most of the football greats,

    Have passed through Parkhead’s gates,

All to play football the Glasgow Celtic”

    Cheers and HH.

  3. Hello is that you cooncil, its me jackie representing the Clyde FC supporter owners trust, all 300 of us.

See that Crownpoint fitba park, no the grass wan, the 3g wan, you know the plastic wan. well you could give us it for nothin under wan oh them asset transfer deals, and then we will get funding from the lottery to build a stand with dressing rooms, so we can play fitba back in our spiritual home in the east end to the joy of our average support of 511. We could get MM Construction to draw up some plans of what a 600 seat stand will look like, and take it from there.

We also have an idea that Sir Lord Fridge will buy us and merge Queens park with us, and we will rent the park out to celtic for the wummins games, and their academy games, cos that would be a money spinner,

especially when the east end is busy on non celtic match days, we will literally have dozens of people flocking to this new ground and enjoying what gallowgate east has to offer,

oh and an ice cream van

  5. Greenpinata @ various issues

Some really good points I would say.

On summer football, I’ve done more pivots and 360 turns than David Turnbull. Can never quite make up my mind. One, not much mentioned issue, would be the summer transfer window being open whilst we were in the middle of the season. With the improvement in pitch care technology (St Johnstone’s farmers field aside), the days of a bit of frost or snow cancelling a game, are pretty much a thing of the past. I’m a bit surprised that the womens league has not been trialled as a calendar year season.

On the subject of main stand upgrade, the demand is certainly there at the moment as every league and Euro game is sold out. Can’t remember the last league match that wasn’t. Real Madrid are currently spending an enormous sum on the Bernabeu, and only increasing the capacity by 4,000 . Whilst the Desmond family call the shots, I’m not anticipating anything significant on stadium development. Perhaps a Fergus type character only comes along once in our Celtic supporting lifetime.

Agree on stadium rights. No idea why this has not already happened. One for Michael Nicholson at the next AGM ? Maybe Dermot himself will make an appearance.

Not really one of your best was it?

The world moves on and you keep clapping for the board.

You have to ask why you cannot engage with what is happening out in the real world?

    Not good.

Poor essay .Amnesia is bad in you

No grudge here and no Tory hard sell.

As I said to Celticmac markets react.

In 2008 when 11 fingers totalled the economy it was down to previous incompetence over its previous neglect to stem the flow to deregulate/liberalize markets, one policy miscounted was the massive growth in credit

Now I agreed with you the cave in that we are on the brink off is prev tory incompetence, yet with 11fingers of the manse you have complete amnesia

So today its tory incompetence,i agree. don’t burn yisr boz standing at your cooker however when in 08 the same govt incompetence is correctly owned by 11 fingers and 2tone heid-Darling.as I say its why the all new anti semitic pro zionist keev is all bout financial competence

    Markets react.

I am an outsider looking in regarding financial stuff.

    So am I.

I understood it was as simple as there being a run on long-dated gilts after they dropped in value because of the huge forecast interest rate rises and because it looked to the markets like the UK had lost its mind.

I understand, kind of, why the run happened and why the Bank of England intervened.

You clearly understand it, it’s interesting to read your thoughts on it. It makes me wonder why you feel the need to make your point on other things by being abusive. I’d read more what you post if you didn’t make it so bloody difficult.

  10. Some investors and hedgefunds want the pound to tank, a real indictment on the workings of the market.

  14. Anyone know of any day trips or over night ones to Leipzig ?

I have to be back for a decent time on Thursday so was probably just going to fly into Berlin, hire a car, and drive over and back on the day and then fly back Thursday on an early but not sure if anyone knows of any other flights / trips going with space as it would be easier that way.

It’s a bit annoying as last train from Leipzig to Berlin is just a tiny bit too tight if for any reasons our fans are held back.

Sell your assets or borrow against them.

We know where this usually ends up.

Admittedly though, it looks like GCC simply don’t have anywhere else to go with this one.

A few decades back when I was more callow I used to read with total bewilderment news reports of (the equivalent of) councils in the USA going bankrupt.

I just couldn’t get my head round it.

“How can a council, funded by public money, go bankrupt?”

Fast forward a few years 🤔🤦
