5 point lead gave false comfort

247

A two-goal win for Hearts on Saturday lunchtime would be enough to move them into second in the table.  It would be reassuring to have an early opportunity to restore our five-point lead at the top of the table.  Another possibility is that Newco win at Tynecastle to go top, for a few hours at least.

Irrespective of how well our season has started, defeat in Paisley last time out suggests that five-point lead gave us some false comfort.  If they get through Saturday intact, Newco have the comfort of knowing that within the first seven games, they have already played away against four of the other five clubs in the top half of the table.  They have significantly fewer challenging periods ahead.

We were in a far worse situation this time last year, when we comforted ourselves with the knowledge that we had almost certainly come through our most difficult period.  With many eyes on the Champions League game on Wednesday, we first need to get the job done against Motherwell.

  1. We had our foot on their neck before we went to Paisley and inexplicably took it off, very surprised that Ange didn’t go with his strongest 11 then rest some of them when the game was won, almost a schoolboy error to send out a brand new team – for the last league game before the int break. quite unbelievable that they can go top at the weekend even if only (hopefully) for a few hours.

  2. AC Milan and Inter are caught up in the same dichotomy over their stadium name. People often call the stadium the San Siro but that’s actually the name of the district that houses the stadium which of course is called the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.

Does anyone have any detail / history on this pay issue?

My limited understanding — Brum and Glesga have been the two major instances of this issue.

Not sure if it has reached other councils / organisations?

Given the £3 ph gap — did we pay our binmen £3 too much?

Or did we pay our dinner ladies £3 too little?

If we paid them £3 too little how did the Glesga rate of pay compare to other councils?

Did it take a long time to spot this issue?

Interested to understand the full story.

Coincidence that the two councils with the biggest property portfolios — NEC / SECC et al — had to pay out the most?

There are lessons to be,the big one in this is to follow the law

The law in this case being equal pay

    .

The case started to form in 2006….16 years ago

The case was settled in 2019.

Today’s announcement is to fund the councils incompetence as it didn’t follow the law

It’s complex now as a lot of the woman are now dead or pastime with different hours

    Simple answer.follow the law.

Two weeks later and still tend to agree, Ange had he a confidant could have briefed him about results in that ground, one of which saw Tony Mowbray out the door.

In fairness he admitted immediately that he got the team selection wrong.

My favourite arena was there in 80s and again after redevelopment.superb arena.

Last I read both AC and inter were chatting of doing the same as Juventus did with Stadia Del Alpe and move to a smaller ground, both were looking at there own ground. That was pre covid I think the plans are paused.

    Hail Hail

  7. Guys,

Just having civil discussion on social media about the equal pay scenario at GCC.

There is no doubt the Labour controlled Glasgow Council were asleep at the wheel.

However selling off our natural treasures like the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a step too far. The incumbent Council do not morally have grounds to sell off treasures belonging to the people.

In 2020 /20 the SG had an underspend of £495m. Yes, money that was underspend. In other words doing nothing.

Solution: Spend some of the underspend to protect the peoples birthright.

Any nuggets / wisdom you would want to share with us?

    How many councils are affected?

I have only heard Brum and Glesga involved?

  10. Has this ruling on equal pay made it into the private sector?

Have distant memories about warehouse staff / men n a shop being paid a higher rate than the shopfloor staff / women but no real detail — again to me difficult to judge given the mobility issue.

Here’s something to cheer you up.

The latest you gov poll gives Labour a 33% lead over he Tories.

    https://www.rte.ie/news/business/2022/0929/1326083-stocks-up-but-sterling-slippery-after-boe-buys-bonds/

I saw somewhere that that would leave the Tories with 2 MPs, though I find that hard to believe.

Maybe time for you to rethink your ‘without Scotland there will never be a Labour government’ mantra.

Team for Saturday; Joe, Josip, Tank, St Moritz, Welshy, Captain, Reo, Great Dane, Jota, Kyogo, Jamesie.

  15. In local government since about the late 90’s jobs have been graded into bands, the rating is based on different criteria which is designed to even out the physical difference between roles therefore someone in a canteen’s rating may be the same as someone who repairs roads.

This was done to introduce a fairness to the different roles, unfortunately some councils didn’t apply the rules properly and that is why the unions had to fight to get equal rights.

The process is usually designed by HR

Totally cheery, bit of low one yesterday thinking of my lost pal Delaneys from here.

Keep following the polls alas they are not a vote?

I guess you will be looking improve on one seat the Labour&Unionist party, Your sounding hopeful it does.i go back to the General election morning and seeing the Sun shred Neil with that light bulb headline of last person turn the lights off. I came up to Scotland and Murdoch was backing someone else.

Tony went n popt his Mrs and Rupert was onside for 97.

And if it turned into an inverse 80s,do you recall?

What was it Michael Forsyth and his mammy(2 or 3 other cons) held all those labour seats, demonstrating

and birthing the total anti democratic nature of what happens in the UK today.eunuchry personified.

Now I guess you are gleeing, rubbing your hands at Scotland again voting in opposition to what your union is voting,ie England will go marketing,Scotland to an independence party, polls mean nothing, all part of the pro zionist walk into making the chaotic fantasy that is brexit a reality.that’ll be a laugh.one that will continue

    to cause Chaos.

The irresponsible incompetence of all involved in the GCC fair pay for Woman 2006-2022.

As Camusbhoy outlines how pay is tiered and in strata is important, you’ll see those fantastic men and woman

Now that is a local council and a bona-fide mess¿ up

This is the level of incompetence Scots are used to

Now,a pity you can own that 16 y.o cock but I am interested in the source of your underspend fig?

Without being are you seriously kevj’ing yourself by suggesting that nearly £¹/² billion was not spent during these times? Seriously?

Show your evidence cos as you know with a lot on here, don’t trust your party.

Is this the great stash for independence fund? Behave

  20. I would be absolutely delighted if Labour won the next general election and kicked the tory scum into touch, with neither Labour nor Tory winning a single Scottish seat. I’d even be happy if Labour held on to their solitary seat.
