Abada sparkles as Rogic stakes PoTY claim

175

An illness-ravaged Celtic swept St Johnstone aside in Perth yesterday with far greater efficiency than at Hampden last month.  St Johnstone went on a downward spiral after that semi-final, losing games since, but this was still an impressive performance.

Liel Abada sparkled in the central striker role, scoring two early on, and his Israeli team-mate Nir Bitton, tidied things up near the end.  Carl Starfelt made things interesting midway through the second half by conceding possession in a dangerous position, allowing St Johnstone to score with their only attempt on target.  Incidents like this will be a concern for Ange Postecoglou.

Liam Scales continued to settle into the side while Josip Juranovic on the opposite wing-back role put in one of his best shifts for Celtic.  Yet again, Tom Rogic made things happen.  The Aussie has flourished under Postecolgou and must surely be favourite for Player of the Year.

As Ange made clear after the game, the break could not come soon enough for Celtic, who ALWAYS prefer to play in front of a full crowd.

Hi Mick: I still have relatives on Lewis and used to go back once a year ( from the good ole US of A ) before the pestilence struck. I called in on HEBCELT my last 2 visits, and we enjoyed a few aperitifs.

As you say, a lovely fellow. Can’t say he would say the same about me!🤣😂😅

  3. Glad to see Boris at least applying some common sense to the restrictions.

Words I never thought I would say. Just as I never thought in a million years that I would find the Telegraph the best balanced of MSM on any issue but they certainly are the only ones supporting common sense with this current new virus.

Genuine question Does anyone know anyone who has been seriously ill with this new omicron virus ? My 2 family members said it was less challenging than a light cold.

Taking an interval from the brilliant Blade Runner 2049 on BBC2. Funny I was talking to friend of mine a few days back re the self same Lizard KIng. Bit of a musicologist, runs a business re memorabilia, original film and concert posters, records and sometimes even classic record players dansette portables etc. Big Doors fan, esp. of Jim Morrison as an Irish Poet. As is my wont, said he well may be, but the name Morrison (including one of this Parish), is more often than not identified with the Outer Hebrides, and also to the North West of Scotland. Found of course in Ireland, and also in W Yorkshire home of yet another William Morrison, founder of your favourite store. He will be thrilled to know the story, and I suspect the images of both Morrisons. There is a poster in there methinks.

  11. Even though we changed the Formation on Sunday, it looks like Everyone knows what to do now…. no matter who the personnel that is Selected on any given day/game. Celtic were Superb on a shocker of a pitch.

Its a blow if David Turnbull is out for a while but it just means more opportunities for others.

Ange&NoExcuses – The Guy was destined to Manage Celtic I reckon.

So I stayed up in front of the TV to watch day 3 of the Ashes Melbourne test

England were a disgrace and an embarrassment.

    ————

    Bit harsh Tom?

Joe Root batted ok as always and did alright in the slip.

    Jimmy Anderson’s bowling was decent.

    Haseeb Hameed fielded well.

    Admittedly …..

…. the eight other guys the tour bus picked up on the way to the MCG …

…. and who were provided with whites, lunch and tea ?

    ….. they weren’t so hot

  23. SETTING FREE THE BEARS FOR RES. 12 & OSCAR KNOX on 27TH DECEMBER 2021 8:38 PM

I watched that last night as well and thought it was good… 30 minutes too long but still definitely worth a watch. It’s been absolutely slaughtered by a number of critics which is a bit strange considering the utter rubbish they’ll happily give 5 stars to.

  24. Hello again all you young rebels

From another very warm Melbourne footy park.

Went down to mark out the lines today for our training starting

next week, forgot my Celtic hat “ sacrilege “ but you know those

COVID masks we all moan about ? just wrap them round the
