  1. I would as HAPPY as ” DOPEY Boris at a Xmas Party”…IF Celtic WON EVERY Game by 3-2 !

Although, maybe my Heart wouldnt stand the strain ?

    LOL

At the Dons 1st Goal, it wasnt just our Defenders to blame, as MAYBE One or Two Midfielders SHOULD have been a LOT closer to their goal scorer, and at LEAST BLOCKED his shot ?

  7. Players walking back from an offside position happens in every game, everywhere.

Unless he’s blocking the keepers view, I have never seen an offside player penalised for literally standing still to ensure he doesn’t impact the game.

Bates knows he’s not getting to Jota and literally runs into a man standing still with his arms down by his side and screams free kick !

It’s a pathetic appeal but to give Bates some credit, he’s seen Collum award them easy free kicks all night and he’s thought, why not ?

    Collum was atrocious last night.

We didn’t play to our usual standard but deserved the points imo.

I’d like to see subs availed off much quicker in games that are going against us though. That continues to be my fear with our side. We’ve a great subs bench now and should be making the most of it.

  9. My Memory is playing up these days…

Was it Wullie Garner or Frank Munro who scored TWO OWN GOALS in their debuts for Celtic ?

Ive also got a funny feeling that Frank Munro was MADE Celtics Captain on his Hoops debut ?

I could be WRONG of course.

    ………..

I AGREE Mate and as I Posted earlier this morning…LIEL ABADA is NOT ” OBLIGED” to move away and make space for any opposition player…LIEL simply ” Stood his Ground”.

    HH.

  11. BIG JIMMY

Don’t know about Frank Munro but Wullie Gardner certainly did, I was there, couldn’t believe the first one, the absolute silence after the second was something to behold!

  12. OHITS on 10TH FEBRUARY 2022 6:41 AM

I see people talking about the Aberdeen TV commentary and how fair it was , one of them was Willie Garner who played for us. He was an ex pupil at St Mirins Academy Paisley although hes not the most famous footballer to come from thar school , that honour belongs to our ex player and manager David Hay. There are a few of that Alumni on this blog myself being included. HH

    ————

What vintage are ye OHITS ?

Seem to recall a chat on here yonks ago with talk about Charlie Fegan, John Clews, Bouncer, Ghengis etc HH

  13. Big Jimmy..

Was at Big Garners debut..if my memory serves me right he wisnae far away from gettin an o.g hat-trick that day.

The Big man can still say he scored at Celtic Park!

  14. DREW1967 on 10TH FEBRUARY 2022 9:32 AM

    ……….

DREW You may well be 100% correct, but somewhere in the back of my auld Heid is telling me that Frank Munro’s Celtic debut was also a ” Shocker”, and that Munro was Celtics Captain that day ?

MAYBE , I NEED to go back on the BEER ASAP ?

    LOL

  15. Former Celt, Frank Munro passes away on 16th August 2011 due to a Heart Attack. Frank was only 63 years of Age.

    By Joe Sullivan

FORMER Celt Frank Munro passed away yesterday (Tuesday) at the age 63 after suffering a heart attack in New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.

The Dundee-born centre-half started at Tannadice and moved to Aberdeen before joining Wolverhampton in January of 1968. He was a mainstay at Molineux as it was at Wolves where he spent the bulk of his career and none other than Jock Stein was a long-time admirer of the player.

The Celtic fanatic’s dream came true when Stein arranged a deal with Wolves and Frank travelled back north for a trial period with his Bhoyhood heroes as he neared the end of his career.

He made his Celtic debut in a home game against St Mirren on October 15, 1977 and was made captain for the day but, unfortunately, scored an own goal in a 2-1 win for the Paisley side.

That slip didn’t deter Stein, though, and the loan-deal was made permanent in December, although the defender only played 21 games for Celtic before he was freed in April 1978.

The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic Park are with the Munro family at this sad time.

….So frank ONLY Scored ONE Own Goal on his Celtic debut, but I was correct about Frank being made Captain on his Debut for Celtic.

So it was Willie Garner after all who scored TWO Own Goals on his Celtic debut…I think ?

    HH

  16. We didn’t play up to our usual standards last night but we still managed to win the game.

    That is what Champions do,

Glad there is a wee break from League action now, we need it.

Kyogo is a huge loss, when we are on song we can manage without him but in tight games like last night, he would be a lesson.

Maeda runs around a lot and he is an OK player to have but Kyogo is different Gravy.

  17. I wonder how many New Celtic players brought to the Club..ON LOAN…were made Captain on their Celtic Debut like Frank Munro ?

Strange decision by Big Jock Stein ?

    HH.

  18. DAIZEN MAEDA…

I feel a wee bit sorry for the Bhoy, as his COMMITMENT/WORK RATE is second to none, however its a lot to ask any player to step into KYOGO’s Boots.

Wee DAI maybe isnt getting the breaks in front of goal…and maybe his luck will change real soon ?

    HH.

  19. QUADROPHENIAN

I was there from 69 to 74 , great school for the football you were either Celtic or St Mirren but it was mostly the bhoys as you will know. I remember Charlie Fegan well horrible man. I played for the school team thar Brendan Maguire ran , at under 15 we went the whole season undefeated including the Summer Cup. HH

  20. Thought last night’s game was more suited to GG than Maeada , especially the second half.

When we were struggling to get up the pitch

  21. MIB @ total lack of engagement with the rules.

AKA known as following the ludge agenda.

Not all contact is a foul — Exhibit 1:

JNPF running through on goal comes into contact with a Dons player — arms / hands / no evidence of force — Dons player falls / foul given / subsequent goal disallowed.

    Exhibit 2:

GG chasing after a long ball with the Dons JH trailing behind — JH puts in a shoulder charge with a five yard run up to shove GG onto the ball which he mis-controls — no foul awarded / goal kick given as the ball had went out of play.

That is the state of the SPL at the moment — unadulterated partial / slanted / forced implementation of the laws of the game to put one and only one team at a disadvantage.

We as a team / club / squad have been gas lighted over decades to accept this injustice as just the cross we have to bear to play top flight football in the SPL.

As noted by many before — they are not even trying to hide it now.

The ninja tackling and the injuries they cause are now just part of the game.

Another example last night and LA was lucky to be able to play on.

We need to stop tugging our forelock and start to call this out.

  22. Frank Munro – hugely liked at Wolves, came to celtic at 30 to replace Pat Stanton.

Was indeed made captain on his debut, a loss to Fergusons st mirren, he scored on own goal and was given a torrid time by Frank McGarvey.

  23. MM

Aberdeens first goal was never a free kick , CM turns his back and jumps to block , the ball goes to the front post and one of the Aberdeen players heads wide, not one of the Dons claims a free kick. Cue WC pulling it back and awarding the free kick which they score from , job done.

  24. O @ 10.27

Saw that little cheateroo as well.

WC played a blinder with all his not subtle influencing of the game.

I think that the MIB Ludge / SPFL Ludge / MSM Ludge have a brains trust to work out how to affect our games / playing style as cutely as possible.

Where our strengths are — so that they can hobble us early in the move / look out for marginal calls to give against us.

Our runs into the box are well timed so they are open to erroneous off-side calls.

They look for individual and collective weaknesses which they highlight to everybody through the commentators to build up negative chatter in the support and encourage the opposition to put pressure on us.

Then you have the scandal of the way the SPFL treats its drug testing programme — half hearted would be a generous way of describing their efforts / laughing stock would be closer to the truth.

  25. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Broadly agree with MadMitch’s analysis of referee’s performance.

As for how we escalate this as a club?

Opinions about “was that a foul or not” are always subjective …

… As a result criticism is easy to bat away.

“You’re biased” / “Green tinted specs”.

    I’d hammer home the statistics.

Throughout European football, team with more possession RARELY concede more fouls.

With Celtic it happens most of the time.

  26. I was working last night and trying to watch on an iPhone. For a spell every time I looked at the screen it was a free kick around our box. Just knew Gollum was at it even though I didn’t see the incidents.

  27. ST TAMS

If the Dons had scored from the near post header do you think Collum would have pulled it back for the non existent free kick, not a chance.they cant have it both ways, sorry I will re phrase that , they are cheating pure and simple.
