Atletico, Malaga, “breathtaking hypocrisy”

I was pleased Hearts won last night as all season I’ve been telling people we will win the league by double figures. Dropping the ball on Wednesday night put that in jeopardy but the gap is back to 12 points ahead of the visit of Motherwell on Sunday.

Ronny is likely to deploy more first choice players for his final game as Celtic manager against a Motherwell team who staged a remarkable recovery after a dreadful 2015, which would have seem them relegated if it weren’t for the huge gap between Premiership and Championship.

It looked like farewell from Emilio on Wednesday but you have to expect a few more will possibly make their final competitive appearances in the hoops this weekend.

I see a “Five-in-a-row but Peter Lawwell just cannot win” article in The Scotsman. Aye, fair enough, but the article ploughs into the Resolution 12 guys, and accuses other Celtic fans of “breathtaking hypocrisy”.

It appears to imply Financial Fair Play rules are not applied elsewhere in Europe (citing Atletico Madrid), so there should be no issues with the rules not applying to Rangers in 2011. I don’t follow Spanish club licencing too closely, but you will remember Malaga being banned by Uefa for having “overdue payables” to the Spanish tax authorities.

The rules ARE applied, clubs are banned from European competition for overdue payables.

I’ve been in touch with both the Res 12 guys and Celtic on this matter this morning (they continue to work together on a daily basis). It’s fair to say both robustly rejected the tone in the article.  I don’t know how this matter will end, but it will not be decided at Hampden, or in a newspaper office – cards marked one more time.

Zlatan on ending his stay at PSG, “I came like a king, I leave like a legend”. And then some.

Hope your mum & son enjoy the day.

I moved from Old Stand to North Stand about 3 years ago, and from being surrounded by 6/7 OAs in old stand , I now have 4 within very close proximity in north stand.

Whilst it may not have served me well academically, I get a great deal of pride from huge number of OAs who support the hoops and are ST holders

  3. Aiden If you mean the club then I would imagine they would want the maladministration to be identified and remedied. But I have know real knowledge of that any more than you.

  5. BRTH. I heard that so called debate on radio Scotland.

Have the misfortune to know one of cowans pals. These guys are arseholes. They revel in their stupidity and are fully signed up Scottish institutional racists. This claim of ignorance and stupidity is a well worn path in Scotland. All the Huns used to do the same whenever I got them in a corner on their racist signing policy or on racists songs.

Scotland rebels in it. When it gets too hard then it’s too intellectual blah blah blah.

I saw shades of this with Lawwell this week.

I fully agree with Res 12 however could someone please explain if our board are now in agreement with the proposal why do the supporters have to fund an advert to promote it ?

The Board are delighted with sites like this, where fans can vent their spleen for days/weeks/years on various issues,it saves them for commenting on any important issues, which they haven’t done in the last 4 years. HH

SS-correct.been saying for years we need a few cash gates, not everyone can afford a season ticket, and if we can attract walk up fans, they might come back HH

First and foremost — that was a very nice Eden Mill stall I walked by in Castle Street in Edinburgh this afternoon.

If I didn’t have enough (for the moment) quality gin about the hoose I would have been sorely tempted.

Re your post. Thank for the appreciative words. You can never guarantee a successful outcome in any campaign like this even where your target might be described as fair and open minded.

You also have to allow for the fact that various parties will have their own self interests to protect or promote.

Then you have those who will not want to know and who will want to sweep sweep sweep for whatever reason. Maybe it is to protect a long established and institutionalised alliance? Maybe it is because the admission of a failure is too embarrassing to admit either personally or corporeally.

Maybe, we will get a magnificently polite and well written bum’s rush or a mere “thanks” and a hundred years of silence.

    Who knows?

But if you set out an argument logically, clearly with determination and leave it on the table for all to see and digest, it will have an effect even if the powers that be brush it under the carpet. You can only brush so much under the carpet before people begin to look at you askance and more and more begin to question.

So thanks for wishing us well we can ask for no more than that from anyone.

Sport — all sport — is something that gives millions of us great pleasure. It is great to see sport at its very best.

What is at stake here from what many have told me is the need to avoid the notion that football is fixed in Scotland and that there is nothing anyone — Celtic, Partick Thistle, Aberdeem, Hearts, Queen of the South. Clyde or whoever can do about it.

If that is so, if that perceptoion is allowed to remain, then you can appoint whoever you wish as Celtic manager and have him sign the greatest players in the world some people will just never come back to another Scottish fixture.

They don’t blame Celtic – many, but not all, are Celtic through and through – but they will never ever trust the SFA and the Scottish game to be fair and so, irrespective of who they support, they will be lost to football in Scotland.

If I had a fiver for everyone who has told me that then I would have pockets stuffed with thousands of pounds.

Hope your mum and yourself have a great day tomorrow.

I always remember my dear old mum,god rest her soul, telling me what the doctor asked her. ” Do you think your condition is helped by sitting in a cold football stadium?” Gave up her season ticket. She sat with her signed photo of Tommy Burns by her radio every week.

Right Bed time folks – some of us have to be at the Park for early o’clock to collect money for the CFC charity foundation.

Remember to get your 5 in a row badges and donate to the foundation as it does a lot of good work for folk who really need a hand.

I read the papers, I listen to SSB (actually enjoy it) thankfully i can think for myself, I don’t need to contribute too any advert in papers that many say they don’t read (but the the media is the media) and probably the saddest part in the last 30+ hours more people have donated to an advertisement about football than BMCUWP & Kitalba’s cause but heyho and Hail Hail

    Re pay at the gate

Surely in these days of technology, they could have people positioned all around the stadium selling tickets for those who turn up on the day, with wifi , touch payment etc, rather than ticket shop plus 1 person outside.

If you wonder why the gap between our revenue and Euro clubs is growing, the commercial myopia of buying a ticket on the day circus epitomizes it.
