Atletico, Malaga, “breathtaking hypocrisy”

I was pleased Hearts won last night as all season I’ve been telling people we will win the league by double figures. Dropping the ball on Wednesday night put that in jeopardy but the gap is back to 12 points ahead of the visit of Motherwell on Sunday.

Ronny is likely to deploy more first choice players for his final game as Celtic manager against a Motherwell team who staged a remarkable recovery after a dreadful 2015, which would have seem them relegated if it weren’t for the huge gap between Premiership and Championship.

It looked like farewell from Emilio on Wednesday but you have to expect a few more will possibly make their final competitive appearances in the hoops this weekend.

I see a “Five-in-a-row but Peter Lawwell just cannot win” article in The Scotsman. Aye, fair enough, but the article ploughs into the Resolution 12 guys, and accuses other Celtic fans of “breathtaking hypocrisy”.

It appears to imply Financial Fair Play rules are not applied elsewhere in Europe (citing Atletico Madrid), so there should be no issues with the rules not applying to Rangers in 2011. I don’t follow Spanish club licencing too closely, but you will remember Malaga being banned by Uefa for having “overdue payables” to the Spanish tax authorities.

The rules ARE applied, clubs are banned from European competition for overdue payables.

I’ve been in touch with both the Res 12 guys and Celtic on this matter this morning (they continue to work together on a daily basis). It’s fair to say both robustly rejected the tone in the article.  I don’t know how this matter will end, but it will not be decided at Hampden, or in a newspaper office – cards marked one more time.

Zlatan on ending his stay at PSG, “I came like a king, I leave like a legend”. And then some.

*Fully concur with you here Mats, bits snipped BTW

There are those who are adamant that he should have been shown the door much earlier and blame the board, not only for his initial appointment, but for not acting quick enough to sack him.

*a bit hunnish that, don’t forget they fired their 2nd most successful manager at the time while top of the League.

Oh I forgot they don’t fire managers, he resigned after turning down the director of football position, a role that naebody had heard of at that time. Revisionists are we.

And then there was the commando who was a highly successful manager in both his spells with the huns but unexpectedly resigned after completing a treble.

His reason for leaving was a secret!!!!! (only my mammy and daddy know why he proclaimed) that he maintained until he left this world although it’s curious that his first signing on taking over the manager’s position at Filbert Street was an avid Tim from the holy village of Renton.

After that there was a succession of 15 different managers albeit 5 of them were interim, but only one, who had the team still in Europe, was fired as a result of fan power, hmmmm if it wisnae based on results I wonder what else it could have been, bammy power mibbees.

Would his tenure have been extended had we beaten the ‘Rangers’? No, I don’t think so.

*me neither, so well done the club with acting with distinction and integrity, see we can use that word tae but at least mean it.

The job was too big for Ronny, so thanks and all the very best in whatever you chose to do in the future.

*said like a true Tim and human being.

    Re print at home tickets.

That’s fine for some folk, but many of our fans don’t have the things that many cqners , including myself, take for granted – wifi , printers etc.

Don’t know if you are aware, but there used to be a kcal bye-law in Glasgow which said that for musc , arts events, they had to hold back a certain % of tickets till a week in advance.

I dont have full details, or, know if it applied to football, but it was intended to ensure that weekly paid workers, weren’t disadavanted for cultural events.

Not sure it still exists, but , IMHO a great example of government putting punters first.

Well said about Barry McGuigan,a soup taker of the highest order.

And closely followed by Wogan and Norton when they refer to “us” and “we” when they commentated on the Eurovision song contest

  6. Evenin my Fellow Celtic Supporters.

Donation made to the Newspaper Ad.. worth every penny, and if you need more cash, don’t delay, let us know.

We are at a crossroads here.. our club has done nothing wrong, NOTHING!! either legally, ethically or morally, and yet the attack on us is unprecedented. The lies and fabricated stories have never been so bitter or dishonest.. and we have, so far, taken it.

The corruption in the SFA will end with a resignation and a pension to go with the golden handshake.. but our problems are deeper than that. When the Daily Filth can employ a ‘journalist’ to issue a personal attack on our Captain, insult and demean his ability and character, then we are at war. Provan, Walker, Keevins, Johnston, Trainor, Jackson, et al.. can write what they like about us, and we do not hit back.

I would take Keane as our next Manager in a heartbeat, for one reason only.. none of the above would dare write the abusive lies if they had to face him one to one. So, would I give up a successful season on the playing side to achieve an end to the gutter press.. In A Heartbeat.!!

C’mon the Hoops tmorra, lets celebrate our success.

Just logged on and disappointed to read page after page of dialogue between respected CQN posters and this chancer Kill Ultra. Why?? Don’t waste any words on him. Ignore him and he’ll eventually sling his hook. He’s obviously a Hun on a fishing trip. Looking for names to intimidate and looking to sow discontent and division amongst CQNers. There is no good reason for his questions.

Ignore him and he’ll go away and don’t be polite about it either.

I enjoy your posts about our team. Take no notice of the no-nothings dismissing our captain this season, is my advice.

Me, you, Scott Brown and everyone else who supports the Celts will be 6IAR champions next May.

I get upset and angry that this is all a one way street.. and if it was fair, Brooney would have the same column space to reply and offer his opinion of the writer.. But its not.. Would the same stories be fabricated and printed when Big Jock was in charge?? Don’t think so, the Big Man would have publicly punched their faces the length of London Rd. Would Provan, Jackson and the rest take that chance with Roy Keane?? Don’t Think So.

Our PR Dept lacks fight and soul and the challenge the supporters want to see and hear.

I know we should take the moral high ground and hope that justice will be done.. but we live in a Country steeped in the ancient order, and it has influence everywhere.. so leaving things to chance aint gonna guarantee success.

I love my Club dearly.. perhaps I get too wound up by those who are out to cover up fraud and corruption and turn the spotlight on us to deflect from their sins.

I have great admiration, great admiration, for our Res 12 Ghuys.. God Bless them.. we owe them much.

Lets go out on a high tmorra.. Lets win, thank Ronny for what he tried to achieve, and show our incoming Manager what he will inherit.

  15. Another Championship winning season is coming to an end. I’m glad I was there to see it. But it looks like we have more battles ahead to fight off the field. It’s been an absolute pleasure as always to engage with some truly amazing folks. Our trip to Dublin was the highlight. Thanks very much for putting up with my nonsense. And with luck and your God willing I’ll be with you next season. In between I’ve got the Boss at Hampden, the Euros and my holibags in Ibiza to look forward to. We are the best supporters in the world bar none and I wish you all well. EDB ktf. We are Celtic HH

Thanks to Awe Naw and Morissey for the heads up.

ok res12 Paypal donation made to CQN bookstore Newspaper statement fund.

I wonder how many adverts CQN could take out for a few % of a Lawwell bonus?

or even better how many adverts could CQN take out with a small fraction of the thousands of pounds I contributed to CQN back in the “Not lazy Journalism” days. Isn’t it ironic that the custodians of CQN now have to set up funds for this after 3.5 years??

I wonder what piqued their interest. My guess is some discussions with Lawwell underestimating the current mindset of the non happy clapper contingent.
