The sun will still rise tomorrow.

    ——————————-

    Not in EK !

    hh n goodnight.

  2. SHEIK YERBOUTI

True it isn’t rocket science, tackling, standing up, I saw plenty of that tonight, unfortunately the team we were playing are a pretty good team who can make any team look as crap as that scoreline tonight. That’s not rocket science either.

Should be loads of spare tickets now for the ManC game, so no bother for me getting one for my boy.

Send your application to acgr@outlook.com, I,ll pick the best offer and get back to you.

  4. I saw us given a football lesson by PSG back in the nineties and even then I could not slag off our team.

We lost heavily tonight and guess what I will still not slag of Celtic.

  5. Best case for me is a draw against City in two weeks, beat BM at home and maybe, just maybe, sneak a win against an already qualified Barca at Celtic Park. Third place seems a world away after tonight but it was our toughest game. 4 points from the next two would be a fantastic achievement.

  6. Ah a defensive midfielder, that’d work. FF why has no one ever tried that against them before.

    That’s fecking so insightful.

All down to Peter, ye know.

Mags Pish of the night award, players on a “jolly”, you are drunk, right, right?

  7. Corkcelt. 10.37.

    Thank you.

I didn’t want to say that but that’s how I felt watching the game, although I have to confess I did get annoyed when we missed the pen, but if Moussa hadn’t scored a pen against Astana we might not be in the champions league.

Hopefully EDB will receive some good news soon, in his difficult circumstances

    Hail Hail.

  8. Tambourine Bhoy of 1967 on

Sore one but hey ho. Always going to be something positive to pluck from even the worst experience, and Brendan and the bhoys will do that.

0 games in europe for ÂŁ0

6 games in europe for ÂŁ30 million

….. gimme the cash anyday! If it means we take a pumping, so be it!

    Bedtime for me.

  9. Parkheadcumsalford

I agree, however, in the interim, we must strive to improve. That quality player might not have made a difference tonight but he might make the difference between third or fourth in the group.

  10. The set up was all wrong.

We played a straight back 5 that was scared of its own shadow.

The CM pairing was either unfit or emotionally not prepared.

We were relying on ScS and PR to do a full defensive shift.

They just couldn’t do it to the standard required.

We were so far off the pace we couldn’t even hurt them.

The game was lost when played a partially fit SB.

A gulf in skill is something we will have to accept.

A gulf in desire and attitude is shameful.

A gulf in energy and intensity is shameful.

We were physically dominated by a team of midgets — Barca worked / kicked / shoved us of the park. That is how badly we played tonight — laughing stock.

  11. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Jimmynotpaul, i”m pleased for you that you got good rather bad news from your test results today.

Good news for you and your family.

If I had a choice between you getting good news from the consultant or us getting a result tonight, the former was my choice.

Our team’s away record in Europe for the majority of the last 43years , isn’t the best. I agree the sponsors want the bigger clubs and have who huge tv audiences to dominate but until something is done about it by other clubs and their supporters , we are stuck with this lopsided situation.

I don’t know how it would be done but I live in hope that Uefa , the sponsors and greedy clubs are brought to heel in some way.

Tonight’s result gives me another reason to avoid sky sevco news.

    It’s football not rocket science

We need players who can tackle

    Stand up

We were the worst I’ve ever seen a Celtic team play

    Yes

    7-0

    Is unacceptable”

Away tae bed and sober up ya walloper

  13. JNP

Please accept my apologies T it’s been a manic day and I only got home minutes before kick off tonight. I’ll reply to your text tomorrow in private my friend.

  14. Finding it difficult to understand the criticism of SB….by far our best player. A real pity nobody else reached his level.

PS….our penalty conversion over the last 3/4 years has been very poor.

    HH

  15. Oh Dear, a huge lesson. For so many of our young players

    Tierney 19

    Roberts 19

    Dembele 20

I would have picked the same team as Brendan, and laid out the team in same structure

Barcelona, just exploited the huge gaps through our midfield and defence, those gaps have been there for a few seasons

Still we will have picked up abooot €5m for that game, and Brendan has time to sort the gaps we have

    Hail Hail

  16. Yep Jimmy, Was thinking of EDB as well, a really lovely man. With the help of God he will be OK.

I know you will still have a lot to put up with but just like Celtic after tonight, you will survive.

  17. BB @ 10.43

    Yes I watched the game.

Do you want to know the colour of his Zimmer frame?

He played with little intensity, no intelligence and less desire.

    Unfortunately NB was even worse.

  18. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on 13th September 2016 10:44 pm

Mags Pish of the night award, players on a “jolly”, you are drunk, right, right?

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I win that award every night

“jolly” ??? Are you fae Tajikstan

    a little drunk….cuff him!

  19. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Look on the bright side – BBC Football Online NEVER lead with a Celtic story.

    They have tonight.

Hoped to win the group with maximum points.

Will need to settle for 15 out of 18 I suppose.

    Hail hail

  20. I never at any time thought we would win this,as I watched the 2-0 against the Israelis I said don’t care we never win a game as long as we qualify so I guess I can’t complain.

That said I think with the utmost of respect Brendan played a potentially good formation but it was not working as was quickly evident.

Gamboa was terrible, 4 maybe more goals were down his wing, what a time for a debut, surely he was watched at training as his ability to control a ball looked rusty,he should have been off,Lustig to RB and O’Connell in,why the delay.

Then we have the Goalie ,who in my opinion should have been phased into the team, even although Gordon is a flapper he would have stopped the free kick and maybe the first.

Then Dembele, attitude at penalty lacked urgency, and attitude at interview was so what, its football, sorry ,previous hat trick or not that attitude is poor, and it could have effected the result as they would have pulled back if 1-1.

Why no Rogic even for a short period?

Not happy, but at weekend if offered a 5-1 Sat and a negative 7-0 tonight I would have taken it.

    Onward to Inverness.

  21. MAD..you ain’t a fan of SB are you.

He put in a great shift without the benefit of anyone joining him at his level.

If that’s him unfit he’s going to have his most outstanding season ;-)

    HH

  22. “We were physically dominated by a team of midgets — Barca worked / kicked / shoved us of the park. That is how badly we played tonight — laughing stock.”

Physically dominated by a team of midgets… Possibly one of the best team of players to grace the game and you come out with gem! Is somebody handing out crazy pills tonight?

  23. Doc (10:32pm): “It might actually help us learn”

You learn a lot more from a 0-7 defeat than from a 5-1 win.

Hopefully BR, his coaching team and his players will all be sitting down soon and dissecting the video of that match. And the main thing they should be watching is not what is happening around the ball, but what is happening everywhere BUT around the ball.

If we can emulate even a little of the Barca players’ off the ball movement and positional sense; their awareness and anticipation of each other’s positioning and movement; their playing of the ball into empty space ahead of their team-mates’ runs; their speed of thought and accuracy of ONE touch passing; their ability to keep the ball in perpetual motion, making it impossible to actually effect a tackle… and if we can do all that on a cabbage patch in central Scotland on a wet & windy night in February, then we will be winning 7-0 every week in the SPL.

Sadly, I don’t think players good enough to do all that as effectively as Barca will ever come to a team that plays in the SPL, even if we had the money to afford their transfer fees and salaries!

  24. Owen the night Raised and Co. destroyed us at Celtic Park remember it well. good that you brought it up.

Tell you what, TB’s (RIP) Celtic were playing catch up, trying to adopt a style that Tommy was instilling in the side.

There was no shame in a lesson from masters, none at all.

Just like tonight, a changing team, changing ambitions, that’ll hopefully blossom.

  25. Park the bus = fear

Being realistic and saying go out and show no fear against probably the best team in the world, that takes courage.

We have learned 10 times more tonight than if we’d played for 3 0.

I won’t be losing any sleep tonight.

    Good night everyone Celtic :)

    Dan Q

  26. OK, That’s me done for the night.

I remain an unrepentant Fenian Bastard.

as the song goes Even the bad times are good”.

Good Night & God Bless All.

  27. celtic1member1vote on

9 Celtic players had incl. travel only 1 full day of rest after

Saturday’s game. 7 Barcelona players had a full week’s rest.

Losing 5 goals in the second half was not suprising given the

very short physical recovery time for our players.

As we build up a big points advantage in the league,

hopefully Brendan will be able to rest most our players before

    our European games.

  28. after 5 mins I said that the five at the back was too static and too stretched against usually one and sometimes two players. while in front we were totally outgunned with three against six at times. that allowed skilful players to run at our static back five at pace. before the game Rodgers spoke about an experiment. when it failed he did not have the bottle to change it tonight. the record book will show tonight as our lowest point ever in our history. Rodger could have stopped that – if not the defeat. 7-0 shocking, disgusting and if you are a Celtic fan happy with that then I don’t empathise with you!! I hope Brendan learns from this!

  29. Dallas.

    Thank you

    H.T.

No worries, speak to you tomorrow.

On a football front, I thought Scott Brown and until he tired Scott Sinclair performed well.

Others will be more disappointed with their performances but that’s football. It’s all about levels not one of our players are at Barcas levels the same as not one of Sevcos players are at our level. The gap as you climb to the very top gets bigger and harder to bridge.

  30. Some amount of bedwetters on here tonight.

There is a reason that we beat every other team in Scotland, namely we have far more money than the rest and so can afford the best manager and the best players. That tends to be the way professional football goes. No reason why it should work that way in Europe.

Brendan is hardly in the door and despite bring in five players so far, none of them play in the area of the team that most onlookers would agree is the weakest part of our team. Namely our lack of genuine holding players in midfield.

Said it time and again Brown and Bitton ain’t the real thing and that was again cruelly exposed tonight. We get away with it Scotland but we won’t get away with it against these team in the CL.

Hopefully Brendan will get the backing he requires to bring in the right type and quality of player so that next season we are in better shape for this challenge!
