My lowest night as a Celtic supporter

Just before I hit the sack, REMEMBER
there were 30 teams left in the Champions League who were glad they were not playing Barcelona tonight.
But REMEMBER
there are posibly over 2000 teams in Europe wishing they were playing in our position tonight.
We have 5 games left in the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE till the end of the year and at least 20 mil quid to keep our club financially secure.

Regarding SB — I have been very happy to see his domestic resurgence in form.
I was very happy to see his performance against HBS at CP.
However he was rank against HBS away.
And he was — to my mind — little better tonight.
He did have a couple of surging runs but that to me was it.
The rest of his game was terrible.
He does not want to take on responsibility.
He keeps passing the ball back to a ML who was already by then suffering from the “fear”.
That led to sharp triangular passing as we retreated into the corner and then gave the ball away — time after time after time.

If I read it correctly it is good news,so puts all of the artificial anxiety regarding football in perspective.

I see Colonel Mad Mitch on again with innumerable posts, aided and abetted by a Sheik from Level5. Some chancers on here tonight.
Nobody wanted — Old KT apart — to take any responsibility tonight.
That is where we failed as a team and as a group of players.
We lost the game on the flight over.
Long way back as that will take a long time to forget.
So what in God’s name happened tonight? Eah? Anyone got any explanations? Here’s mine.
We were beaten by a vastly superior team.
And, errr … that’s all. That’s what happened. Nothing more complicated than that.

That is how bad we were — Barnsley in the EPL bad.
Yes tonight hurts.I watched the kids today,and although they have looked the best bunch of kids for years,they were outclassed.The movement of these players is unbelievable.I honestly think that is a massive problem for our teams.Barca,at both levels always had 3-4 options.Alongside that,they are so comfortable on the ball.They caress it around the field.Magnificent footballers.
Sad to say,we are now looking at a different level.Probably unreachable.If UEFA had any sense,they would fek off with their top 16,give a fair bit of cash to the rest,and let us all get back to a more level playing field.
Until then,results like tonight will happen more and more frequently.Or just take the 30 million and accept the odd drubbing and dont complain.

I’mean sorry to disagree, but having been involved I don’t accept any of this. In other sports no such excuses are acceptable and in many cases they are not professional.

after 5 mins I said that the five at the back was too static and too stretched against usually one and sometimes two players. while in front we were totally outgunned with three against six at times. that allowed skilful players to run at our static back five at pace. before the game Rodgers spoke about an experiment. when it failed he did not have the bottle to change it tonight. the record book will show tonight as our lowest point ever in our history. Rodger could have stopped that – if not the defeat. 7-0 shocking, disgusting and if you are a Celtic fan happy with that then I don’t empathise with you!! I hope Brendan learns from this!”
History will record a period in football where the gap between the wealthiest teams and those in the peripheral leagues was at its most disproportionate. If you do not appreciate and understand this (which it would appear you don’t) then you really need some reality pills..

QF- Barca scored 2 from short corners, played back to about 20 yards out,a pass between FB and CB , a classic Barca move you see anytime you watch them, as they have not a lot of height .I think Brendan will be annoyed at those 2 in particular, maybe not the best place for Gamboa’s debut HH

Celtic’s players played a pretty intense fixture (albeit a stroll in the end) just three days ago, and have flown from Glasgow to Barcelona in the meantime, with little time to train properly ahead of tonight’s game.
It was humid and over 27°C in Barcelona at kick-off time.

Do yourself a favor and google the stats of the Barca players, they are many things but midgets ain’t one of them.
These guys are if not the best on the planet, they are someones vision of the best, they think so much quicker that 99.9% of others, that’s why they are playing for Barca, if they were thinking at 99% they might be playing for an EPL club, our boys prob think at 97%, at the level we are watching is a 7-0 humping.

Take a deep breath… Scott Brown was our “most effective” player tonight, by a considerable distance.
That perhaps says more about how difficult his team mates found the match, than it does about Scott’s performance, but there you have it.
He was the top Bhoy.
MadMItch – 11:01 – no, it’s a long way back for you but I think the team and management will reflect and move on, tough game gainst a tough mega-talented outfit who’ll give much better and wealthier than us a right horsing, thems the breaks and wouldn’t want it any other way as, when we do occasionally swim against the tide and get a result we can savour it all the more, need the famine to fully appreciate the feast so stop being so greedy! :o)
