Battle of the Ages ends with LLLLLiquidation Day!

407

I took and made a few calls after the BBC broke the news about Rangers liquidation.  So much to discuss, so many possibilities and so much uncertainty remains.  Rangers are gone and whatever you think or hear about a Newco, it will be a shadow of the club Rangers were in the early 80s, never mind today.  But still, we have plenty to focus on as we prepare for the enormous events that lie ahead.

I then took a call from my Dad who told me to forget about tomorrow. “This day is about history, about all the events over all the years”. How true.

My friends in Celtic, tonight raise a glass to Celtic fans past, who never lived to see how this Battle of the Ages ended, celebrate for each of them. Celebrate all of those league titles and cups you were denied which were ‘won’ illegally by Rangers over the last 14 years. Celebrate for every hard working man and woman in the country who pays their tax every month, no matter the hardship. This is a victory for all of us. LLLLLLLLLLLiquidation Day is here!

We’ll worry about how other clubs plan to get their hands on your money tomorrow.

I/we didn’t buy season tickets to line the pockets of Kilmarnock,Murderwell etc.If they bring 500 to CP for a league game, they can have half of that.

They should get all the money their supporters bring to Celtic Park and therefore fair being fair, we should get all the money our supporters bring to their poxy grounds. These clubs live off us like parasites and always want more more more.

I accept that we need competition but if these other teams cared more about improving their own clubs and bring more fans in through their gates it would fit them better than trying to steal all our money.

Anyway, rant over for now. Will just enjoy the day as it is a great day.

Having finally read the article all I can say is Paul67 especially, you deserve to enjoy a glass or 10 of whatever your favourite tipple is tonight.

This day has come about in my opinion because of people such as you and Phil Mc amongst others.

If it wasn’t for you and other contributors online, all of the shady goings on might just have been kept behind closed doors until a way was found for tax dodging cheats FC to get away with it .

Yes I would like to add my congratulations to you and my heartfelt gratitude for giving us this magnificent blog. You have worked hard to maintain it and to keep us up to date and informed of developments before we read or heard about it anywhere else during the period of RFC’s demise.

Indeed as far as I can remember you were the very first to predict it around 2008 or so when you had a look at Murray International Holdings’ accounts. (Apologies to anyone else who might have also predicted this but Paul was the first person I read or heard). What has been particularly good is that you have (rarely) got over excited and your column is always informative but restrained.

I’m having champers tonight with my jelly and ice cream and I’ll raise a toast to you.

“I had heard Murray snr had gambled away the business he had built up but not that he had done time for fraud.

“Just goes to show the grip his son had on the Scottish media that the little snippet had been kept quiet.”

I remember reading about this in a Scotland on Sunday interview with Corrupt Dave about 1996. It was almost a throw-away line and not much was made of it.

In the same interview Dave stated that if Rangers have not reached a European final by the new Millennium he would consider his tenure at Ibrox as a failure.

Not much was made of that either, in the years up until 2008, but I think we can all agree Dave can be branded a failure … and for soooo many reasons.
