Boot on the other foot for a change

601

For years we worried of the consequences an away trip in Europe would do to our weekend performance.  The boot is on the other foot now.  Hearts head to Celtic Park on Sunday after returning from Switzerland in the early hours of this morning.

Their result against Zurich was perfect: a narrow defeat keeps the tie alive; manager Robbie Neilson will be alert to the possibility of delivering Europa League football with a sold home win on Thursday.  Do not underestimate the emotional and physical strain put on the Hearts players as a result of last night’s game.  I am feeling unusually confident about Sunday.

There is a similar story at play with another Glasgow-Edinburgh fixture this weekend.  Hibs host Newco, who are between European qualifiers.  Hibs, like Celtic, don’t need to bother about these games.

Newco’s next six league games include visits to Hibs, Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts.  This run will expose whatever weaknesses exist in their squad.  Celtic have their own business to take care of, and we will be in the middle of Champions League group stage exertions during this period, but, the opportunity is there to build a clear lead in the title race.

On paper the Blackburn and Norwich games were also sell outs.

Hard to argue the ground is too small when for both games it was half empty..

There used to be a poster on here who gave us actual numbers of ” bums on seats ” rather than tickets sold.

It is possible to oversubscribe like most other businesses do ? Very difficult.to address this.

‘You definitely can’t temper your love of Celtic because Rainjurz cheated for years whilst trying to better our club.’

    ###

Well with respect I’m not aware of anyone who has argued that.

The concern isn’t so much what the huns did, or how Scoddish football dealt with what the huns did. (Though if the whole thing is a corrupt farce, where pretence outweighs reality, and the death of a club can be ignored, it might make some question just how much of this they can accept before regarding the whole shebang as absurd).

It’s how Celtic Football Club dealt with it.

Did they seek to distance the Club from the corrupt farce, or did they, by their silence, endorse and enable it?

I suspect that’s a door many on here, and in the support generally, are afraid to open, for fear of how it might affect them.

Others might find that they can only suspend their disbelief for so long, and start to reappraise their beliefs.

I’m specifically talking league & Euro games. Not so much friendlies and domestic cups.

To be fair, the club announced that the Blackburn & Norwich games were sold out in the sense that there were no tickets available due to both matches being on the season ticket.

They didn’t claim afterwards that the stadium was full at either game.

  5. Greenpinata, the amount of Ladies & Ghirls attending Celtic Park is incredible these Davie Hay’s. I remember the olde Jungle and its bog.

I think we could easily sell 80.000 ST’s and go to another level. it means investment in the Main Stand.

Ange’s brand of fitba is obviously a Massive factor.

Was it not just yesterday that a Celtic statement would have sufficed for your good self?

It’s a Rainjurz then Sevco matter and nothing whatsoever to do with what Celtic said or did or didn’t do. Scottish Football decided on every cheated supporter’s behalf, why single out Celtic, a mere member.

We voted No the same as every other club (Kilmarnock aside) were we a special case in wanting Rainjurz more dead than they already were? It was jelly and ice cream when they went, its Celtic supporter angst because there’s now apparently ‘something still out there – Jim.’

Yes. But even league games are never usually totally filled, apart from the obvious ones. But you are right in principle

    Tom McLaughlin,

So many wanting to go and yet so many empty seats. I wonder if the club could have made it pay at the gate for most areas at a nominal price of circa £5.

I think that may be the way forward for such games.

    Petec,

Yes, Parkhead is certainly a family friendly place nowadays. Let’s keep it that way and enhance the match day experience. On this topic we must never stop.

    Cheers and HH.

  11. Anthony Joseph has pulled back on speculation that Celtic are on the brink of signing Sead Haksabanovic from Rubin Kazan.

Over the last 48 hours the news from Sweden and Russia was that progress had been made with The Sun reporting that a medical could be held today in London.

Rubin look like taking a significant hit on the £5m fee that they paid for Haksabanovic a year ago but it seems that more than Celtic are in contention to sign the winger.

Personally, I’m not precious about how the shareholding is broadened.

Your suggestion is probably more pragmatic than mine.

A share issue by default every ten years, aimed at new and existing small shareholders.

Wouldn’t need to be vast? e.g. 1 million shares

Primary target demographic should be those supporters who were six to fifteen years old at last share issue.

    Get them young.

I still see some appeal in allocating a share for every season ticket renewal or even offering a share purchase with every sale online or at Superstore?

Many of us cough up £3 for the Foundation at renewal time.

Same premise – tick box here to buy a share at £1.50 (small mark up for admin).

Might need a bit if joining up of back office systems admittedly.

    Apologies – can’t recall who …

    … But thank you.

“17.25% of club owned by small shareholders”

“We need those 27,897 individual fans to have their say”

Over the next decade I’d like to see the number of individuals double.

I’d like each season ticket holder to own at least one share per season ticket per season.

If, during the same period, 17.25% became 30.25% ?

    That would be good.

    “““““““““““““““““

That the same CELTIC TRUST, who allowed themselves to be mugged off by DAVID LOWE, who’s powers of persuasion, persuaded CT not to back any campaign which would lead to the boycott of season books, with a view to instigating regime change of the thoroughly dodgy PLC, BEFORE the same PLC sat idly by as the 10 in a row season went down the pan in font of theirs and everybody elses eyes?

The same CELTIC TRUST, who along with The GREEN BRIGADE, protested in the car park for 6 months of the same 10 in a row season, displaying vaious powder puff banners, chasing buses to shout at them, and then…..the PLC rang the season ticket renewal bell, and CT & GB all fell into line like timid little school children??

    THE PLC ARE YOUR GRANDMASTERS.

YOU’VE GOT NOTHING, NOTHING, TO THREATEN THE PLC WITH, AND THE PLC KNOW THAT NONE OF YOU HAVE ANY BALLS!

The CELTIC TRUST made a mistake by not appointing JEANETTE FINDLAY as leader whilst her stock was high and she was gaining kudo’s as a robust callenger to any PLC chicanery, who viewed her as a thorn in the side.

    What happened there?

    Ego’s?

The clique who always seem to get, ungettable tickets, was their noses out of joint?

The CELTIC TRUST has, like 53k season ticket holders has, and the CSA has, and all bloggers and podcasters have, NO say, because the PLC view you collectively as a group of people who choose to feed themselves to a group of insidious, pro OLDFIRM, CELTIC PLC sharks.

    Sharks don’t respect ANYBODY.

    Respect?

    A Say?

    Taken Seriously?

The PLC piss their pants laughing at you all because they know that you don’t have the balls to go nuclear on them!

In my opinion any Celtic “statement” would have been lapped up by oor media …

Have you any thoughts on why HMRC let a business Phoenix with same(ish) name and why they didn’t chase the debt that the entity playing football out of the same football stadium with the same fans ?

Surely our Revenue & Customs mob are more to blame than the Spl, Celtic board, than anyone regarding the Huns …. considering non payment of tax is actually breaking the law (I think)

    Evasion not avoidance ….

Anyhow as BSR put it, we know they liquidated and every Sevconian fan I know (and I know a few) also know that we know they liquidated

I know I never let them forget …

and I don’t need no board of Celtic to educate me

If the Huns appearance in Europa final and the way they run their finances … ask yourself this, would you take a few decent European runs if liquidation and ditching your debt would give you a chance of this

Anyhow … here and now Ange has our 100% backing and I think he will gather points in this CL group stage but 3pts Sunday is the only aim for now

CELTIC PLC retained OLDCO prices onto NEWCO tickets when NEWCO arrived in SPFL in 2016.

53k season ticket holders finance a CELTIC executive who’ve ably, sleekitly, and eagerly assisted in the cover up of the crime wave of the DAVID MURRAY, EBT theft of £100+ million from HMRC, and 20+ football trophies.

Had the KELLY’S and WHITE’S embarked upon the cover up of irrefutable evidence, that revealed possibly 20+ years of brazen cheating of CELTIC FC and its supporters, then we’d still to this day, and forevermore, be watching video evidence of CELTIC supporters of that, KELLY and WHITE era, The JUNGLE era, REAL TIMS, dragging directors along London Rd and throwing the complicit sell-outs’ into the River Clyde, possibly under a hail of bottles and bricks and boulders, to ensure these directors didn’t emerge again.

That would’ve been terrible, but if you spat in REAL TIMS eyes then attepted to put a knife into their backs, then what I’ve described would probably have happened.

But nowadays we’re all civilised with nice seats to sit on to comply with THATCHER Govt, Hillsborough psyop 1989, to frame football terraces as – dangerous – yeah, apart from Hillsborough, where else were terraces dangerous?

A THATCHER Govt that detested the 99% of society, a huge percentage of them football fans, and THATCHER Govt going out on a limb to provide safely all seated football stadiums?

LIVERPOOL FC fans say that Hillsborough 1989 was a set up, designed to crush innocent Liverpool fans to death. 97 R.I.P. 💔💚🍀🕯️🙏🏻

    What happens to sheep?

Sheep spend all of their lives paranoid out of their minds that they’ll be eaten by a wolf.

Then the sheep end up being eaten by their shepard!?

Get rid of the PLC GRANDMASTERS or forevermore suck their chicanery?!

Get rid of seats – like minds will socially mobilise on terraces like before, not safe standing with stabiisers bs REAL terraces like before – new Jungle rebels might emerge?
