Boot on the other foot for a change

601

For years we worried of the consequences an away trip in Europe would do to our weekend performance.  The boot is on the other foot now.  Hearts head to Celtic Park on Sunday after returning from Switzerland in the early hours of this morning.

Their result against Zurich was perfect: a narrow defeat keeps the tie alive; manager Robbie Neilson will be alert to the possibility of delivering Europa League football with a sold home win on Thursday.  Do not underestimate the emotional and physical strain put on the Hearts players as a result of last night’s game.  I am feeling unusually confident about Sunday.

There is a similar story at play with another Glasgow-Edinburgh fixture this weekend.  Hibs host Newco, who are between European qualifiers.  Hibs, like Celtic, don’t need to bother about these games.

Newco’s next six league games include visits to Hibs, Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts.  This run will expose whatever weaknesses exist in their squad.  Celtic have their own business to take care of, and we will be in the middle of Champions League group stage exertions during this period, but, the opportunity is there to build a clear lead in the title race.

Brilliant! (Rangers 2 Celtic 2 in March 1977 at Ibrox. Roy Aitken scores to put Celtic 1-0 up on 12 minutes in the SPL clash.)

What it shows most is that Celtic currently have a fantastic team spirit and guys like Joe, Josip and Jota (as he showed in the interview with wee Greg) are really nice people.

  4. Love the Celts. So many happy memories and many new ones in the making.

    Enjoy your day, fellow Celts.

  5. Walkers new terminology for a stonewall penalty for Hibs,as Tavernier, wrestles Hibs player to the ground.

“Very dangerous defending there by Tavernier”.

    Weasel.

  6. So a random conversation.

Out last night at a work do. VEGA at YOTEL, great venue, brilliant views across south glasgow and east glasgow, really well done on the fit up and ideas.

A group of like minded middle aged, nearing retirement blokes, belting out the celtic symphony on the kareoke at 5pm on a friday, what could possibly go wrong.

    Anyways, that conversation.

We got talking to a hammers fan. For those that know the east end, the fella lives in Poplar right next to Canary Wharf. A traditional West Ham heartland. Property is dear by scottish standards, his two bed flat a mere, £600k.

So I expected the fella to be a long standing supporter. He wasnt really, he liked the club cos of family connections but had nevr been to a game ay the Bolyn ever in his life. He goes now cos its the big thing, 30,000 new attendees at the London Stadium, a great day out without the violence and fears, and the stadium is comfortable and modern. His season card is only £500.

I asked while in glasgow if he would try take in a game,

    not really that interested mate.

  7. So we’re handing the huns 700 tickets for the 3rd Seot game.

The pros against giving them any tickets are well documented on here and make absolute sense. I’ve not heard one good sustainable argument for giving them tickets. The poorest one being ” It’s the rules ”

Its 700 of our supporters who will miss the game as we welcome the worst of the worst.

    WHY ,?

  8. Not a shot at goal, but Golum decides to give them a penalty for nothing in the 45th minute.

    Disgusting.Shitbag Walker,”well that’s very sort”

  9. Ach Nae worries the pundits will explain why it was a stonewaller , tav pen doing it in the hun box wisnae

  10. It was no stonewaller but technically it’s a pen- as Bushiri grabbed at a player he was making no attempt to tackle or catch up with. It was a soft-ish pen but arguably a pen.

Just as it was when Tavpen himself manhandled the Hibs forward earlier in the match.

    Both Hibs CB’s are bombscures

  11. If that’s us then I’m shouting for a penalty, madness from the centre half as there was absolutely no danger. Why Hibs didn’t get the earlier penalty, well that’s more in keeping with the cheats charter.

  12. Haven’t watched a hun game for a while but watching that the fix is in. Gollum looking for any opportunity to give them anything, almost painful to watch him desperately looking for anything. Soft as tavpen. Bed can’t watch this anymore. Sevco are shite. We need to keep the pressure on and hump them 4 times before the cheating stops.

  13. The corruption in Scottish football makes me sick to the pit of my stomach.

It makes all our titles and cups more incredible.

Ps charge the 700 huns £1888 or £1967 for a ticket, if they want to pay then great if not sell to the 700 season ticket fans who do not get entry on these games for our normal price.

Simples its oor naw and we make the rules.

    D :)

Quote Message: An absolute moment of stupidity from Bushiri. Having said all that, I’m not convinced it is a penalty. I’m not convinced there’s enough of a pull, if there even is a pull. I think he puts two hands on him, which is crazy because there’s no way that Colak is getting near the ball. Bushiri has given Willie Collum the opportunity, and we all know how much he likes to make big decisions.

  15. See the difference.Those couple of pricks see a pull,which after seeing it 15 times,I can’t see.He touched him,Colan dived like Tom Daly.Hibs stonewaller,Boyd,no penalty.

What is it with these Uncle Tom Arses.

    Raging.

  16. SS,

A great day out without the violence and the fears.while sitting in modern comfort.

This is the new face of football. A family game.

If you had pressed your London friend he would maybe have mentioned that he didn’t want to hear IRA chants at our stadium and sectarian filth at Grayskull.

This is a constant theme that I get hit with by my English colleagues at work.

Much of what was acceptable years ago is no acceptable now. We need to adapt in the same way as the rest of society or we will pay the price.

Deep down, we all know this.

    HH.

  17. Everything has been said about collum’s refereeing, he is a weak easily initimated individual who enjoys the uefa gravy train due to his compliance, not because he is fair impartial or competent,he isn’t, madden wasn’t the only problem within refereeing here.

  18. The Hoops hierarchy had been open to exploring a return to the traditional away allocation of 8,000 at both grounds, but there will be no change this time around.

so we instigated giving thems 8000 and they didn’t play ball and said no , so we accepted their offer of 800 , we should’ve them zilch, nothing, hee haw after the shocking incidents at thems park last time out ,we are far too weak in accepting what they want.

on their pen the sad thing is that we expect it to happen every game they play.

  19. SFTBs,

Your “Ripping the pish”out of someone, different from mine.If you mean, sitting giggling with him, fair enough.
