Boot on the other foot for a change

601

For years we worried of the consequences an away trip in Europe would do to our weekend performance.  The boot is on the other foot now.  Hearts head to Celtic Park on Sunday after returning from Switzerland in the early hours of this morning.

Their result against Zurich was perfect: a narrow defeat keeps the tie alive; manager Robbie Neilson will be alert to the possibility of delivering Europa League football with a sold home win on Thursday.  Do not underestimate the emotional and physical strain put on the Hearts players as a result of last night’s game.  I am feeling unusually confident about Sunday.

There is a similar story at play with another Glasgow-Edinburgh fixture this weekend.  Hibs host Newco, who are between European qualifiers.  Hibs, like Celtic, don’t need to bother about these games.

Newco’s next six league games include visits to Hibs, Celtic, Aberdeen and Hearts.  This run will expose whatever weaknesses exist in their squad.  Celtic have their own business to take care of, and we will be in the middle of Champions League group stage exertions during this period, but, the opportunity is there to build a clear lead in the title race.

  1. Can we take some time to remind ourselves once again that TavPen is a crap defender.

  2. Don’t get me wrong, this mob are there for the taking as Hibs have just shown,if they would show a bit more bottle and bring their 2 front players into it more.

  3. Ray Singh-Carr on

Scottish Refs being asked for consistency. Showing it in bucketloads. They consistently give all the soft decisions to Sevco and consistently fail to spot them when they happen to their opponents. They probably can’t see any problems 🙄

  4. It’ll only cooont if they take points off thems………………

    Hibs should be one up……………………..

  5. The only difference again with Huns and another scottish team is the officials.

We will beat them of this I am sure.

    D :)

Can’t see anything to fear from this mob. Biggest worry will be if their chosen official has a blinder on Derby Day, and even then.

  7. The issue about The League tho’ is how much they are allowed to take advantage over the other teams to artifivcially ensure they keep neck an’ neck with ourselves.

We won’t get the rub o’ the green.

Thems’ll “beat” teams they shouldn’t have, them’s ll garner points they didn’t deserve and it’s wee nugget’s like wullie that helps all that along.

  15. more or less had a sly kick at a hibs player earlier when he came and no action was taken by the ref and thought he could get away with anything.

  16. hibs against 9, they just dont move the ball fast enough, they take seconds with every decision, we are spoiled watching our celtic.
