Celtic harvesting the mascot generation

343

With St Mirren’s top of the table and derby clashes out of the way, Lewis Morgan attended a medical this morning ahead of his potential move to Celtic. The 21-year-old can play in left, right or central advanced midfield positions.

The player is out of contract in the summer and now free to choose his next contract, although a training compensation fee would be payable, the level of which Celtic have reportedly agreed with St Mirren. It is an indication of the times we live in, when a former Rangers mascot makes Celtic is his destination of choice.

That training compensation fee would not make him Celtic property until summer, so St Mirren are right to resist a little extra cash to part with him early, with their promotion push at a critical phase.

When Brendan Rodgers spoke after our Scottish Cup tie against St Mirren in March he suggested the Championship side were the best domestic opponents we had faced that season. Morgan clearly made an impression the manager followed up on.

  1. quiz question, what is the connection between a jazz musician and a former celtic player.hh.

Burnley , that was a lovely post about your early memories of going to games with your dad and others . What a time in our history to start going to Celtic matches.

My dad started to take me to Celtic Park around 1968/69 also , taking me to the Rangers end. He would park the car at St Michael’s church , then walk down Springfeld Road then through the wee side streets onto Janefield Street .

When I took my son to his first game , Dundee at Celtic Park in September 2004 , we sort of followed a similar route to the one my dad took me . I had to fight back tears of pride as loads of great memories came flooding back of the games my dad took me to and how excited I was to see the mighty Glasgow Celtic , which I still do , with me now passing that tradition onto my son.

Thankfully , he has caught the bug of supporting our team , two overseas trips already and he has just turned 18.

  3. AngelGabriel,

Agree. I was very sceptical of Phil’s post the other day. He’s either being fed duff information or is engaged in a prolonged exercise of wishful thinking.

They aren’t anywhere near administration, not when someone, somewhere is pumping money in. However, given what is stated in their accounts about needing cash before the season’s end, and spending money like this, there really should be questions being asked about the provenance of this cash.

Imagine Aberdeen suddenly splurged a million on a player? There’d be raised eyebrows everywhere. It should be the same with Sevco, and the SFA should be asking them as a matter of urgency where this cash is coming from, because it certainly isn’t coming from money earned, or normal commercial borrowings.

    Thanks for the shout out!.

In the rest of today’s news , Rainjuuuurz have appointed Jimmy Nicholl assistant manager. That’ll be to keep Murty’s residual timmishness in check.

  5. In a lot of ways not being listed on a market allows no questions or scrutiny of their spending or accounts to be asked, even if the Governing body were inclined to do so, if the governing body wont monitor this no club will do anything ever in my opinion. I do hope we have the ticket money from the Sevco match recently just in case.

  6. What surprises me more than anything about where the huns are getting their money from, is the lack of action from the serious crime squad, in saying that I saw a video on youtube the other week about the loyalists in the north, everyone and his dug knows who they are, membership is up to a ten year stretch, they flaunt it, yet they get away with it, now, if I were cynical, I may well conclude that the serious crime squad know what is going down re the huns and their money, but I’m sure I am way off the mark and the sfa are also on the ball.

Don’t worry about the Sevco ticket money. It’s safely resting in Del King’s account.

    A Glib appointment apparently.

Loyalist money has been hinted at almost from the moment Sevco was set up. Nothing – absolutely nothing – would surprise me.

Remember when Chuck Verde had a wee trip to Belfast, he sure as eggs are eggs wisny out there selling season books.

There have been many, many other instances that the serious crime squad should, if they were doing their jobs with any kinda conviction be looking into.

  16. A club that say at their AGM,that a further 4 million quid, will need to be found from somewhere, then go out and sack their entire management, with the ensuing costs, appoint a brand new DOF,and are now, supposedly paying 1 million quid for a player. Not a single eyebrow raised. Its incredible.Like when they tried to sign Cousin whilst in Admin and were given the OK by D and P.

Too much has gone on,and still is.Reading HMRC have not recieved a penny of the 72 million they are owed.Eh?When they were liquidated, why were the whole team,Ibrox,Murray Park,at the time ,sold off, along with any other assets.Thats were the problems all started.Hmrc sat back and watched the biggest sham of an insolvency ever recorded.

It’s scotland ffs, Hector doesn’t have much clout when the brothers are running things behind the scenes.

Time after time they have been bang to rights, yet time after time they get away with it.

The stuff they have gotten away with is eye watering, but they could only have done it in scotland, the best wee sectarian country in the world.

  19. The recent John James article[whatever you think of him] says a prepack CVA has been discussed at dinner with the games administrator, now why are they able to sign a player with this in the offing with the intention of paying pennies in the pound for him.

They can’t, it’s a football debt, I was under the impression that football debts were exempt, I am happy to be corrected on that, the only way football debts don’t have to be paid are if a club gets liquidated.

The Rangers who died in 2012 were signing players right up till the padlocks went on the gates.

Their last player signed, IIRC, was called Cellic!

Its Sevco, if it needs done it will, rules are guidelines that can be ignored changed bent or rewritten.

  24. okay no matter how we try on this sainted blog to have a laugh and discussion it always comes round to sevco, so here is my take on the matter, ever since our forefathers stepped of the boat in bonny scoddland we have been seen as second class citizens because of our catholic faith it has not changed one iota in over 100 hundred years now if it was us and not them who had fiddled the taxman as well as the rest of the shit what they have done, would we be still in the premier league and buying players no chance, how many posters have left over arguments about them, as a catholic growing up in lanarkshire i wasnt taught to hate them maybe some of you were, but the catholic faith welcomes allcomers, contrast that with the followers of the late ian paisley we are the antichrist yes you heard correctly the feckin antichrist and he was supposed to be a man of god, remember its his ilk that is running scotland and we wonder why rainjurs are still trading its so fecking sad that our forefathers are looking down on this shambles sorry for the rant its just so frustrating.hh.

I met a hun today, he would live a fair few miles away from me, but now and again he graces the village with his nordie presence, he is a total tosser, the Mrs positively hates him, and she is never shy about telling him he is a bigoted arseh*lo, he was sitting outside the bar when we arrived, you could see him cringing when he saw our car draw up, the Mrs made a beeline for him, yer man in his mind knows everything about everything, when in fact he knows virtually feck all about feck all, I must admit I sit in awe of the Mrs when she tears him to bits, it’s better than what I remember sex to be if I am honest :-)

Hence I am on a wee bit of a hun hate fest tonight, the scum get under your skin, I am blessed in reality, I see yer man less than a handful of times in a year so.

The last time we saw him was about three months ago, saturday at the market, the village was very busy being a nice bright sunny morning, after the shopping folks tend to go for a coffee or a beer at one of the bars, anyways, he was holding court when we arrived, must have been twenty brit speaking people sitting outside the bar, we had a dog with us that we wanted a home for, a cracking dog, a big pure white mastin, his Mrs took a liking to the dog and yer man shouted, as he tends to do, Ok you can have her if you want her, meaning his Mrs could have the dog, well, Mrs TET tore yer man to bits, he actually left when she was in full rant at him, the dog he had died through his negligence, she never misses him :-)
