Celtic interims show what a stable club looks like

869

Celtic interim accounts for the 6 months to 31 December were released this afternoon.  The standout figure is that, despite Champions League revenue being absent this year, football and stadium income was down from £16.8m to a similar £16.5m.  This suggests other ticket sales increased.

The hit from the lack of Champions League came in the multimedia and commercial column, which was down from £19.5m to £7.9m, but the club still make an operating profit of £3.2m.  So, we’ve a fairly solid club on our hands.

We invested £5.7m in players, while making a profit of £7.1m on disposals.  With player trading, tax and interest all accounted for, we made a profit for the period of £6.601m.  This Armageddon thing is working out quite well.

After my moaning last night, ihave to admit I really liked the Basquiat exhibition last night, and in retrospect I’m quite glad I didn’t get my head shaved (it is bloody cold here, and sadly, I don’t look good in hats)

    Hmmm,poor politicking from the DR,IMO.

I have to declare a wee interest here, inasmuch as I would rather cut my knob off than vote SNP. Though,as it is my opinion,it is not intended as a starter for ten on a political debate.

But for a newspaper to conflate someone’s footballing preferences or prejudices with their ability to do a job as an elected MP is comparing apples and oranges.

The Labour Party needs better leaders. And judging by the DR,it needs better cheerleaders too.

  9. Dundee’s last Scottish Cup win against Celtic was in the 19th Century.

    Let’s keep it that way!

  10. I was in an Edinburgh pub last night with a few friends after work. The BBC Scotland news was on the TV and reported “Celtic accounts reveal large slump in profits.”

I overheard a guy at the next table say to his mate, “Looks like Celtic are going the way of their weegie pals.”

It was at that moment I realised why the BBC put a negative spin on anything involving Celtic . . . there are enough uneducated morons out there who fall for it.

  11. In South London today…does anyone know if the white bear at Kennington still showing the games…last time I went by there looked like it had changed…any other pubs close by….If not will head to the cock at euston but that will mean missing the first 20 minutes

  12. Many Inter fans are of the opinion that the players care more about cars , clothes and women than playing for Inter .

Up pops Icardi in the fitba papers – just bought himself another Lamborghini – man thinks it’ s good to have a choice of colour.

  13. BMCUW

A fair point about the LAbour Party press cheerleaders but I still think its fair to point out that the SNP and The Yessers generally have a fair share of bigots too, in order to counteract the dewy eyed optimism of those that believe they will deliver a rapid trip to The Big Rock Candy Mountain while singing “Tomorrow belongs to us”.

Anyways, todays a fitba day and politics can wait. I fancy our chances against Dundee because I don’t rate their defence. Griffiths will want to torture McPake today.

Interesting comments from Kris confirming there was unrest about Ronny when we were in our early season slump. It is true what they say, “success has many fathers, failure is an orphan”. Everybody wants a share of the credit for recent improvements but only Ronny was getting the blame for the early season form.

    **LAST MAN STANDING 3**

All of the week 5 selections have now been received so good luck to all. We could potentially have a winner by tomorrow afternoon as only 1 person has selected Dundee United. But looking at the choices and fixtures I personally think that all 33 are likely to qualify!

The numbers selecting each team are as follows along with those teams fixtures.

    18 – Manchester City

    6 – Aberdeen

    6 – Dundee United

    2 – Chelsea

    1 – Southampton

    Saturday 7 February

    Aston Villa v Chelsea

    Manchester City v Hull

    QPR v Southampton

    Aberdeen v Ross County

  19. Politics

Long time supporter of Labour (which has been wavering of late) but the decision, albeit now reversed, of the West Dunbartonshire Council to reduce the school hours of primary pupils is the end for me. This is a party without leadership or connection with its past. The local councillors should have been chased out of town to have even considered never mind vote on such a cut.

  27. Re the SNP candidate. The tweet was posted a few years ago.

So she “hates Celtic”. Since when did that equate to sectarianism? There are many fans of every other club in Scotland who would admit to hating Celtic. Most of them would also say they hate Rangers too. I’d expect a good number of them are Catholics too.

Every day we read on CQN how much we hate Sevco, Hearts, Motherwell, Kilmarnock etc.

Let’s not get too precious about other people returning the sentiment.

But don’t let me stop people on here from doing the Daily Record’s dirty work for them.
