Celtic need to learn resuscitation methods

980

Celtic have lost in the game immediately after three of their previous four European games, shipping nine points which could be crucial in determining the destination of the championship, so it was not surprising they were below par for much of the game yesterday.  Fortunately, the Aberdeen goal came early enough to allow Celtic time to raise their game and respond.

How Celtic respond after European games will become even more crucial in the weeks ahead as they have visits to Motherwell, Dundee United and St Johnstone due after our next three Europa League games.  Any slim championship aspirations will be extinguished in these games if Celtic are unable to improve performance for the league challenge.

Ally McCoist is defying early predictions and grinding out impressive results for Rangers, who will seldom have started the league with such an impressive defensive record.  Six away wins from six games without conceding a goal is the kind of form it takes to win leagues.

Our more immediate challengers, Motherwell, dropped two points on Saturday, meaning we can go two points clear of them if we win our game in hand, however, the teams meet at Fir Park a week on Sunday (three days after Celtic play Rennes), in what looks like being a key game in our season.

Paddy waltzs by the Aberdeen defense with ease, pauses, looks up for options and thinks ‘what would Kojo do’?

    How you doing maestro? :-)

Agree, Paddy McC made that opportunity on his own and earned the right to go for goal, there were far too many Dons defenders around our forwards for a pass, people would have been screaming at Paddy for not having the confidence to go for goal if he passed and wasted it.

  17. Kpjo,

First of all I am not talking about speculation. I made that clear. My information is from personal sources who are in a position to know. I will not under any circumstances breach the confidence.

It is not speculation in any way shape or form

    See above.

I have sources i trust , and who are in a position to know. The information they have provided me gives me great concern over the way the Football operation runs. I have been completely supportive of Neil. How you can construe what I have said as being anything other than supportive beggars belief.

I will not name names of contacts. Ever….

Should you choose to take the view that Lawell does not interfere in player recruitment thats your choice. I suspect if you spoke to the people I spoke to then you may very well have a different view

  18. Enjoyed Jackie Mac’s observations earlier.

We will improve, just an awful lot of personnel changes at the moment.

Plus Izzy out, Hooper and Kayal not on last year’s form.

That’s our 3 impact players from last year.

The debate on Rangerstaxcase is at an interesting juncture…what might an ‘OF’-less SPL act and feel like?

Would other clubs that always complain about the glasgow-centric focus actually vote for it?

Maybe RFC moving up through the leagues would give lower-league teams the shot in the arm that might jolt some back into a healthier state?

Mention of the 11-1 voting rule, and it’s effective veto on change for the glasgow giants.

What fun might the other clubs have with no ‘OF’ veto built-in anymore?

    Hail, hail

You could not make it up…!!!….some Celtic fans on the phone-in wanting DD to go….

it really is reality time, I’m afraid……the £17m SDM spent on their current squad is what put rankers ‘over the edge’……Scottish Football is not going to survive this recession, and, being in a good financial state, we will be able to move to another league…..rankers cheated the taxman to pay their 9 in a row players, and we were cheated out of 3 leagues in ‘their’ desparate attempts to allow rankers to survive …. it didn’t work, and the banks called in their money by pushing through the whyte Alamo (sorry ‘revolution’……..they now have an asset stripper at the helm, and the ‘wounded animal’ is making it’s last desperate attempt to avoid Armageddon……Tick Tock

The next couple of months are going to be interesting …..let’s see, for example, if they can pay the wages this month and, if not, watch the Media’s attempts to cover even this up…..!!!

Administration is a certainty…..(the PR machine is already working this into their fans’ mindset….) …..liquidation a distinct possibility (since they will need to sell players / stadium etc to clear whytes credit, and that of HMRC alone…!!!

…AND SOME CELTIC FANS WANT US TO GO DOWN THE SAME ROAD !!!? …..THE NAME OF THE GAME NOW IN SCOTTISH FOOTBALL IS FINANCIAL SURVIVAL………WATCH THIS SPACE IN JANUARY…..I ACTUALLY THINK WE SHOULD BUY JELLY FISH IF THE EPL DON’T ‘BITE’

    IN NEIL I TRUST……………!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“Maybe if our keeper had made the saves that

MacGregor made yesterday we would have won at Tynecastle.”

A wee bit harsh. Fraser made one smart save from Stevenston’s early header and a tremendous save from their first half free kick. He made just as many good saves as McGregor did but our defence kept asking him to make more and more. Fairer to say if Matthews, Majstorovic, M.Wilson and Mulgrew had played like Goian, Bocanegra and McCulloch, he would not face as many one on ones as he has to.

I accept your point that Hearts tried hard against Rangers but you must also see that Rangers were fortunate, as well as resilient, in beating them, The foul count and Yellow Cards awarded in that match do not reflect well. Rangers had a slightly higher foul count but half as many yellows received.

Look at these 2011/12 season stats:-

    Red Cards

    Aberdeen 2

    Celtic 2

    Dundee Utd 1

    Dunfermline 1

    Rangers 1

    Inverness CT 1

    Motherwell 1

    Hearts 1

    St Mirren 1

    Yellow Cards

    Aberdeen 20

    Celtic 9

    Dundee Utd 18

    Dunfermline 17

    Hearts 23

    Hibernian 25

    Inverness CT 22

    Kilmarnock 20

    Motherwell 15

    Rangers 16

    St Johnstone 25

    St Mirren 23

We are receiving far fewer YC’s than any other club but have the joint highest RC count. You may feel that Charlie and Kriss’s red cards were justified but how easy is it for refs to not go beyond yellow for serial Rangers offenders? We got 2 of our better players sent off; they got Maurice Edu done.

  22. I made the mistake of reading Dingwalls article.

I see that the message from the recent national mental health week, that aimed to reduce the stigma of mental illness, failed to penetrate dingwalls conciousness.

What is it with those people, is intolerance and prejudice part of their DNA?

I would guess most bhoy’s would accept what you say as having a lot of truth, Im actually staggered that some bhoy’s don’t believe the managers hands are tied and players are being bought for him, not by him.

All anyone has to do is revisit some of lenny’s media conferences in pre-season and you’ll find all you need from what Lenny says, he repeatedly talked about certain players and the need for experience and not ONE of his preferred choices were delivered, its a shocking state of affairs.

Something stinks in paradise, over the last three years we’ve tried changing the team and the manager to no avail, its time to address the real problem.
