Celtic still looking for midfield magic

771

A comfortable win in the end masked a difficult hour for Celtic at Inverness on Saturday.  It was not until Ki Sung-Yeung replaced Georgios Samaras that Celtic were able to prize open the home team.  Ki has the range of passing and shot that makes him a formidable attacking threat but he has still to require the consistency of concentration that would make him a certain starter.

After Paddy McCourt appeared on 69 minutes Celtic were well on top.  The Irishman brings the double gifts of time and space to the team.  He has the ability to take and retain possession despite the close attention of several defenders, allowing others to take up advance positions or relieve pressure on defence.

We’ve tried more midfield formations this season that I can keep track of and despite Ki and McCourt improving Celtic considerably on Saturday I’m not going to insist either is given a starting berth.  Both still have more to give, as do the rest of the midfield.

Celtic would need to make a move now before it’s too late.

Lenny has a lot of contacts at Cliftonville,so i am sure that he already knows about the player.

The lad is over 6 feet tall, brilliant in the air but also very good with the ball at his feet.

Exactly the kind of striker that the club have been crying out for.

Good point.I think that Liam Boyce had a wee bit of an attitude problem to be honest.

Can anyone confirm that Angela Constance MSP, The Scottish Parliament, Minister for Children is the MSP for Broxburn?

If so wonder what are her feelings that a family in her constituency no longer feel it is safe to bring up a family there due to sectarian attacks.

    ====================================

Broxburn is covered at Hollyrood by SNP’s Fiona Hyslop MSP . A little confusing as party list regional list etc. Angela Constance is Livingston but I think there is some overlap.

Westminster Broxburn is represented by Graeme Morrice (Lab)

Yes — it is not OK for them to tell the world that Celtic support the IRA — that is a lie . It is propaganda in support of an agenda.

I can’t fully explain Hun FC’s motives for avoiding meeting its full tax responsibilities . I imagine 1 motive would have been to save money and then use that money to fund an unfair competitive advantage. Maybe they had other motives —- I have no idea as to what they might have been.

I repeat that it is risibly hypocritical of that Quintessentially British Club to trumpet its loyalty to the Crown whilst failing to pay its dues to that Crown ..

I repeat that it is risibly hypocritical of Land of Hope and Glory Fc to belch its support for The British Military whilst failing to pay tax to Her Majesty’s Government – Sanctimonious guffery . Dissimulation . Two faced ass kissing lip service . Purveyors of false piety . Duplicitous chancers.

I repeat that your sniff out a Hun question is stupid —- it is stupid because it is based on a fallacy . It contains a specious argument. Hun FC are not directly responsible for the funding of the British Military . Her Majesty’s Government chooses what to spend on whom . The Huns could have paid all of their taxes and the Government could still have decided to cut the funding to the British military by X million pounds.

Exposing the absurd jingoistic posturing of The Hun / exposing the absurdity of such a jingoistic organization failing to to pay its dues to something it claims to love and support so much is easy . It is self evident.

The balance between that particular incident and the slaughtering of the referee is quite astonishing. Ah, it was against Celtic.

I think you’ve overlooked what is possibly the most important point. The ref is called O’Reilly.

BCC, I heard boyce had an attitude problem. As good as Donnelly is at that level I feel the strikers we have in U19s would be ultimately better. The likes of Tony Watt, James keatings, Greg Spence or Omar bogle would all be better than Donnelly as they have been coached by better coaches for longer.

  7. I believe that Rangers were playing a well known anti-crown rebel song. The Star spangled banner over the tannoy at Ibrox on Saturday. Is that going to be reported to the S.F.A.? if not why not?

On September 14, 1814, U.S. soldiers at Baltimore’s Fort McHenry raised a huge American flag to celebrate a crucial victory over British forces during the War of 1812. The sight of those “broad stripes and bright stars” inspired Francis Scott Key to write a song that eventually became the United States national anthem

“The Media are Ganging Up on the Green Brigade”

I got a call from my mate Tucker this morning; it was regarding a couple of pieces in the rag they call the Daily Record; apparently one was a letter from a guy in the North of Ireland who said I didn’t represent him; just to reassure him; I never asked to represent him.

The second was an article by that famous journalist James Traynor; he has a dig at me; nothing unusual there; but the real annoying thing about this arrogant journalistic nobody is; he tries to slaughter the Celtic Support; and in particular; “The Green Brigade”.

In his article he refers to the GB as an “Obnoxious stubborn bunch”, “Halfwits, and Half-baked activists in hoodies; he further states “They are a bunch of silly wee boys who are being easily led by one or two who fancy themselves as Parkhead politicos”.

If the GB are so offensive why does the stats released by the Government prove otherwise? Of the 47 arrests for sectarian offences at Celtic park; 14 were amongst the home support; out of 1,000,000 home fans; that works out at 1 in every 71,428; the other 33 arrests were for visiting fans; out of 35,000 visiting fans; that works out at 1 in every 1,060; and incidentally; 22,500 of those visiting fans came from one team.

I have met with several different representatives of the GB; and I would love to see them in an open debate with Traynor; then he would see if they were silly wee boys; I might add; there are quite a few female members in the GB as well.

The main reason for Traynor’s rant; and that of his media mafia friends the previous day; Keevins and Waddell; was that we had the audacity to refuse to meet with Assistant chief Constable Campbell Corrigan.

Let me once again clarify the position. Jeanette Findlay and I had contacted Celtic Head of Operations Ronnie Hawthorn after the heavy handed and brutal handling of the supporters within the GB section at the match against Hibs on October 29th.

Ronnie told us that we would have to talk to the Match Commander Eddie Smith as it was a police operation outside his remit for security; Ronnie said he would arrange a meeting. We were then informed that Mr Smith would not meet with us because he was unhappy with some of the comments made about him in some web sites; but he would send a junior officer.

That was completely unacceptable; so we contacted his superior at London Road Police Office, Chief Superintendent Wayne Mawson. He said he would be happy to meet with us; but would not discuss the specifics of the match on October 29th; again there was no point in meeting in those circumstances.

It was then put to us through the Club that ACC Corrigan wanted to meet with us to discuss all the issues concerning the Celtic support; the events of October 29th could be part of that agenda; and nothing was off limits.

We had provisionally agreed we would meet with ACC Corrigan on Friday November 18th; but following comments attributed to him in the Record; we felt it would be inappropriate to meet under those circumstances.

The comments appeared to say that we were being summoned by the ACC to be told exactly what the position was; in fact he was quoted as saying “We need dialogue with the supporters to put down a marker that we are not going to accept this anymore”; a telling off in other words.

There is some doubt as to whether ACC Corrigan actually made the comments in the first place. The Record had three exclusive stories that week concerning Celtic and their supporters.

The person who handles press releases for Strathclyde police is a guy called Rob Shorthouse; his Facebook page carries a picture of him and Sneaky Sally; there are several unsavoury comments by him which can be viewed quite openly online; not exactly impartial.

It may well be that we will eventually sit down with ACC Corrigan; that will be a decision taken by him and the Celtic supporters groups; we certainly won’t be asking for permission from Traynor, Keevins, or Waddell.

Ironically Traynor in the latter part of his article gives support to a bunch of Motherwell fans who were thrown out of Pittodrie for being on their feet having a good time; I wonder if he would support the GB in the same circumstances.

Keep repeating it, 1 out of every 71,000 Celtic supporters arrested for a sectarian offence

1 out of every 1,060 away fans at Celtic Park.

Or if you want, 1 out of every 15,000 people who attended a football match in Scotland was arrested in relation to a sectarian offence.

The excuse given and readily accepted was that poor Naisy had suffered enough and would be out of the game for ages anyway.

This excuse ignores the fact that Ragers should have been down to 10 players; that the red card would accrue points that carry over for 2 seasons; that sympathy is not a criterion written into the laws of the game or the interpretation of such laws.

  29. Do I not like foreigners?? Wise up.

Ok, ‘outsiders’. That includes english players.

The media circus around Celtic and rangers sucks them in and you will see the same players in the press week in week out…Big Dan has fallen into that trap.

I have yet to hear him apologize to the fans for any of his many shockers though…it’s invariably after a decent result or two. I wouldn’t mind it after a run of 10 victories.

I just think it contributes to this inherent complacency that settles into our performances after a win or two…the press allow our players to big themselves up, they get over-confident, they mess up. See murderwell or ICT last year. There are countless other examples.

Just play and do it well…we’ll decide if yer good enough on that basis alone! U have me in a proper tizzy now!
