  1. Terrible performance and result today I thought. Am afraid Neil has to take much of the blame.

Matthews was never fit and Samaras was miles off the pace. Shouldn’t have started and really should have been off at HT.

Stokes as well – how bad must Balde and Pukki be that they can’t dislodge such an obviously disinterested player from the team?

Felt sorry for Johansen, trying to do the job of three men after Brown decided to wander all over the park picking fights.

Only Virgil gets pass marks from me.

Regarding Aberdeen. How loathesome are their fans? Clearly they feel there is a gap to be filled since the demise of the Huns.

Overall we looked tired and flat. Between now and the summer Neil has to decide what his best team is and play it in anticipation of another marathon CL qualifying campaign. I suspect that means the end of Sammi, Stokes, and maybe even Brown (if he is brave enough).

Only consolation is that the Armageddon theory has taken another knock, and ultimately, though it is difficult to admit at the moment, the Scottish game needs more teams to be challenging us and winning trophies.

  2. Tully57 its juat a pathetuc excuse. Celtic ltic just want money and couldnt care less about resukts.

  3. It’s only what you’ve become. I’m fine. Then in reality you’ve never been a supporter and days such as today for whatever perverse reason seem to delight you.

    Just in from the game.

    Better team won.

How many times though? Two midfielders against Five! Why?

    ======================

It is easier to stop creative football than it is to play creative football. The biggest element is energy and numbers, skill is then on the back foot.

I think Mulgrew’s absence must have been a factor and Joe Ledley certainly had energy but is no longer around.

So who is used to pack midfield with six players? Brown, Johansen, Biton, Kayal, Commons and? Also given we were at home would it be acceptable to put out a team to stop creative football than one to play it?

Results are always inches away from being better and it only takes one to go in rather than past to change the complexion of the game and we had a couple.

So Aberdeen started with an advantage in terms of formation and game plan. Every SPL team playing Celtic does but do not have enough players of adequate quality and energy to implement it.

Aberdeen do and did and good luck to them.

  5. Greenpinata

The CEO should lead the Board in its strategic deliberations….

He has a tricky job in this league and is handicapped to a degree but the crowds must now be a concern

  6. Love Lenny to bits.

However….2 men in midfield is a recipe for disaster. 2 against 5. Seen this movie so many times before.

Easy to see and say that individuals didn’t perform…..but they were fighting against a system that doesn’t work.

In his early years, Scott Brown was poor. Why? He played in a midfield 2. Had to hunt down 5 opponents….and then had to hit 30 yard passes to wingers. Our players were too far apart. Doesn’t work.

With Mulgrew injured, the obvious move was to put Biton in the middle, keep a midfield 3 and play our usual game. Instead, we played 4 ‘attacking’ players and Aberdeen said ‘thankyouverymuchfitlike’.

At the final whistle, Brown was shattered. That tells you everything.

  7. McDowellcelt god bless wee oscar on

The thought of that sleekit sniggering **** of a man Mc Coist parading and dancing with the Scottish cup at parkhead in May makes me physically sick and there is a very real chance this will happen.

This season has been a total failure and we have gone backwards. This can’t be dressed up any other way. Poor tactics, poor players, selling our best players not replacing them.

We will be lucky to get 15,000 at home games rest of season.

But sure it doesn’t matter we have Phil mc and others tellin us sevco will die again. Absolute nonsense. We need to address our own problems before worryin about that mob.

Really, Neganon….do you really believe that? Seriously?

  9. Total pash from us today. The four postmen of the Apocalypse will be coming for NL now I think. Meanwhile Sevco go from strength to strength with a crap manager and no money.

I had concerns before today about playing Fisher. Good prospect, has had good games but I think the opposition see his youth as a weak spot.

Thus if Matthews was fit, and a fit Matthews offers more than young Fisher I can see why he was selected, Lustig being unfit.

  12. Not a very well thought out response Neganon2….and it doesn’t make much sense.

if it’s only money Celtic care about then bad results on the field is detrimental to that.

  13. Back in from the game. Well disappointed by the performance, missed Charlie but too many others had a poor game. Fair play to Aberdeen, good solid performance, deserved their win. Their fans went way down in my estimation today, scum is the only word I can think of. Anyway, as some have (rightly) said, we wanted competition. It can only be for the better of Scottish football, if we were running away with everything it would become tedious. And all the `we need thems` brigade would be wallowing in it. As much as i`m down about today i`ll still be a Tim tomorrow. Unless i`m on the list. Hail Hail. Am away over to HibernianArsenal Quick News for some light entertainment.

  14. Ticketbus

Thought we missed Charlie badly today…the midfield looked light and unbalanced.

  15. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Surely before any season starts Celtic must set a goal for the season if they dont how do they measure a poor season or a good season how do the measure individuals performance? So I am assuming they do have a measurement it is clear that PL has a monetary goal so Neil will be measured I am sure against the clubs football goal which will decide the managers long term future. H.H.

  16. We lost. Always hurts but that’s competition. Well done Aberdeen and I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Isn’t it good to welcome a competitive domestic match back like an old friend.

Now sadly those with utter misery in their lives will infest the blog like a plague for the next few days, unleashing their hate after such a fantastic run.

Discourse will be abandoned as their sandwich board of ‘the world is about to end’ echoes round the room.

Off to the pub to celebrate being a Tim, the Irish rugby team and my dear old dad who ll be looking down with a smile on his face.

  17. Tully tou are so wrong. Eltic laxk if ambition is now xoming home to roost. Thy qre utterly reliant on a suport thy hold b in open contempt. Its only going to end one way.

To give you an example celtic were tryung to sell efe just before the ttansfer wundow. Did you know that? Celtic are takinf the pish. Are you all happy?

  18. Auldheid

Can agree to a point re creative football – when it becomes apparent that your plan isn’t working you should change it – at 1-0 we were not going to run over them, at 1-1 we were not going to run over them and at 1-2 we were not going to run over them…

I worry when the personnel changes do not alter the approach – there was more danger of Aberdeen scoring in the last 10 than us – as I said it’s a shame – would have loved to have seen us defend the cup at Celtic Park…

    Bad result for Celtic.

    Good result for football.

Sky and the rest of the media craved an “OF” confrontation.

    They craved a payday.

    Not going to happen.

Best case scenario now is for some other team to go on and win the cup. Armageddon?

Worst case scenario is for them to go on and win the cup.

    BUT.

Will it be number 34 or number one?

Will they be allowed to compete in Europe?

Big decisions for the SFA and EUFA.

    Make their mind up time.

Team selection today looked liked it was a case of playing as many senior players as possible, irrespective of shape or tactics,

    Why?

Was it contractual, that some guys are guaranteed cup tie appearance money?

Fancifully, perhaps, but no more so than playing the discredited and ineffectual 4-2-4.

I have never had such conflicting emotions after a Celtic defeat, but my underlying feeling is that I NEVER want to face them on the field again ; and certainly not give them any financial aid at this crucial time in their short existance.

  21. Come CL qualifiers PL and others will regale us with talk of how difficult it is to compete with clubs who have massively greater resources than us.

Don’t hear too much from them about superior resources on days like today.

So much for the mythical decade of domestic dominance.

  22. Just back in from game. Everything about today was disappointing . The attendance, performance, result and Lenny’s tactics. A special mention must go to the Huns in sheeps’ clothing who we’re shocking today. Saying that ,I hope the dons now lift the cup as the thought of sleekit ally parading the Scottish round our stadium In front of the sevconian hordes is a disturbing one.

I just don’t want to read all the negatonian shoite……some of them are hunlurkers anyway…… but you read on and enjoy…….incidentally, the vast majority of them disappear when we win……make up your own mind about that, fella….HH…….(and, by the way, after we scored, our players thought they were on ‘easy street’)

  25. Even though the game was on the tv, I thought our fans would’ve been up for this game today.

I was and the people who travel with me were, so why were there thousands of empty seats there today?

The Dons fans were bouncing around CP today a couple of hours before the game, but for some reason our own fans’ apathy towards our team is shocking.

And the Dons fans reminded us of it at every turn!

People criticised the board for shutting the top tier, but were proven correct to do so.

Can anyone offer up an explanation?

We need to get our act together before the CL qualifier in July.

Forget an unbeaten season, our sole focus now should be preparation for those games.

If NFL knows of anyone who is definately leaving in the summer, don’t play them!

    There’s no point.

Superior resources do count. Have you looked at the league table recently?

Cup upsets are part of football. The main thing is to win the league. Lenny has done a remarkable job in preventing complacency and putting together a great run of wins in the league.

  27. ulysses mcghee is praying for Oscar

Yup but my point was who and how many would it have taken to tip the balance? Looking at the bench, apart from Biton, and even he is a risk , I could not see anyone.
