  1. Sammi needs to be gathering skelfs on the bench or the stands from now until the end of the season. I do not understand why he is a starter; not at all.

  2. Hands up all those that couldnt see that Matthews wasn’t match fit after about 5mins of this game?? Now if we could all see it who on earth at Celtic okayed him to start? It’s such a basic error yet sums up our coaching staff.

    JUST in from Paradise.

Out played, fought & thought. Sammi not at races. Commons quieter.

VERY unimpressed by Adeen fans goading NFL.

I m sure there will be a summit.

Griffiths looked sharp & could ve started instead of Sammi-hindsight.

  6. We can blame anyone we want about that joke today.

NL might not have signed the players he wanted but today he picked the team from what he had. What a disaster that was again.

Samaras shouldn’t be near a game, Matthews was barely match fit and we were generally poor.

We should be looking at a new manager now, not the summer.

  8. Ellboy - I am Neil Lennon, YNWA. on

Thought Sammy had a more than decent first half and without him we wouldn’t have taken the lead. Was a fine pass to Stokes.

Why are a number of posters calling for Neil Lennon to resign or be sacked?

I know it’s hard to take, but if we had changed managers every time we failed to win the Scottish Cup, Big Jock would never have led us to Lisbon or Milan.

    ———————————————————————————————————————

Six domestic cup failures to six different provincial teams in three season (seven if you include the Ross County defeat when he was caretaker manager) is a piss poor record. With the resources he has at his disposal and the massive advantage he has over every other team in Scotland, he should have at least one domestic treble under his belt by now. The truth is, he really is not that good a manager.

On the one road mate, ups and downs and all. There’s only one road.

I’m good mate, really good, thanks for asking, I hope you are too.

Chin up mate, always chin up, those we love deserve that at least.

  11. We lost a game of football today…..Whoa is me!

Aberdeen deserved it ..we didn’t…hopefully ..life goes on.HH

ps some fans at game today a disgrace….joining in whilst the sheep were telling Lenny

    to go, I fekn despair.

  12. Kojo

I referred to you only in that Neil read your plea to bring on Amido.

A number of posters have called for Neil to be sacked. I didn’t see you do so.

For anyone of my vintage I give you a name which is frequently followed by the speaker having to make the Sign of the Cross:

Kai Johanssen. (In the name ……..)

  13. Nothing like a Celtic defeat to bring the glory hunters onto the blog.

If a Celtic defeat is all that’s sad about your life then lucky you. Many other Celtic supporters don’t have that luxury.

    Get a grip FFS.

  14. Kitalba I couldnt disagree more. With the resourcea qt our disposql we should be sooooo far ahead.

  15. pogmathonyahun aka laird of the smile

I suppose that’s the upside of a poor performance by our team.

We were out sung and outplayed today.

We sold our two best players and throw out the GB to appease others and kill the atmosphere they generated!

Ye, I was a jungle bhoy and if was late, it would be number 4 in the celtic end.

Those days are gone now…it’s more orchastraded singing… more fool us!!!

  16. But I see your true colours. Shining through. I see your true colours. And that’s why I love you. So don’t be afraid to let them show. Your true colours. True colours.

Out of the woodwork come all the Lennon haters.

    Again…

we wanted competition… we got it.

  17. …and they said no Huns in top flight would kill Scottish fitba… Part of me is enjoying the cups going elsewhere… As long as it’s no Ibrox!

  18. Just in from the game.

    Better team won.

How many times though? Two midfielders against Five! Why?

Heard Lenny on Shortbread – unbelievable, “only Forrest and Stokes ok”, nonsense!

We cannot, and never will be able, to play with two midfielders and two wide men and win. We don’t have two midfielders good enough to triumph when heavily outnumbered in the middle.

Well done Aberdeen. Your support are a disgrace right enough.

Don’t call for a sacking unless you have a BETTER replacement lined up.

Plenty of choice at the moment.

    Laudrup is available.

    Doyle?

Moyes may soon be out of a job.

    Malky Mackay?

BTW in no way do I think any of these guys could replace Neil.

I’ll be back after I look out my tin helmet.

I wonder what size the crowd will be for our next home game with St.Johnstone in my opinion we will be lucky to hit 20,000. Now this for me will be where PL will start to wonder is Lennie the right man to take the team forward. Neil needs more time to mould this team and bring in a couple of new faces in the summer my worry is will he get that time. H.H.

  21. greenhillsbhoy on

Are celtic fans not allowed to criticise when we are served up dross like that,,that was our biggest game this season on the domestic front,we failed not for the 1st time in the cups,,we don’t have a divine right to win the any trophy,,but we should go down with a fight,,we didn’t,,its all to familiar under neil,,his tacticts were wrong again,,he didn’t sort out the midfield that was loosing the battle,,he and the players deserve the criticized,,we are all celtic fans but being happy clappers all the tim does the team no favours.

  22. Neil Lennon is my hero – he may not be the greatest ever coach but he is an inspiration to us all.

He has stood up to everything this bigoted system has thrown at him.

    He stands tall.

Having read the nature of some of the posts on here today, I hope it doesn’t break his heart.

Celtic supporters? doing the MSM’S bidding.

    I’m sad.

    Teuchter

  23. Best team won. The team that wanted it more won. The team that packed & dominated the midfield won. The manager who had done his homework & had a gameplan won. Thry deserved it, we didn’t.

  24. Well we got what we deserved. Why didn’t NL play the kids instead of these overpaid pretenders?

Also, this defeat wouldn’t have happened if we’d signed Johnny Russell or had Murdo and Wim in charge. Sack the bored!

And what use is a healthy balance sheet if you can’t beat the likes of Aberdeen? PL needs to get a grip, spend some money and allow the GB back as well. Boycott the games till he does.

  25. Well the plan is working,

no big pay day coming for thems,

further down the tubes they go.

  26. a light insanity on

Don’t know what to say as Neil is and will always be one of my favourite Celts. I just can’t comprehend how he keeps trying the same failed formation. We can’t play with 2 midfielders. Really frustrating. Yet he ppersists. Wtf?

  27. NegAnon:

You can disagree all you want but that was cup football.

Do you really want me to waste a couple of hours of my life listing cup upsets.

If you do, then I’ll have to disappoint you beyond Berwick Rangers, ICT, and Clyde.

It’s cup football mate, it’s CUP FOOTBALL.

  28. Did I imagine it or did we start with Brown left mid and Johansen right? And then swapped round, or more precisely confused them both into having no shape at all.

Sammy should not be in the starting line up ever again. Matthews didn’t deserve to start ahead of Fisher.

Otherwise the players selected were capable of winning that game but didn’t perform. I doubt it’s about “being up for it” since we have been doing that for meaningless league games for a while.

Perhaps scoring early led us into a false sense of security. But if so, that sense should have dissipated with the first and certainly the second Aberdeen goal.

No, it was just an off day for many. Certainly not any single players fault, but collectively culpable.

I excuse Ambrose, Van Dyke and James Forrest. Plus the (too) late subs.

  29. A surprisingly poor performance from Celtic which seems to haunt us when we close half the stadium, before a ball is kicked and I’ve never seen us play well, when the club declare to the fans before hand that they don’t expect to see them.

Aberdeen were the better side from shortly after Celtic scored the obligatory early goal made by Samaras, and well taken by Stokes. Aberdeen hadn’t started though and the played with six midfielders at times against the throttled Johanssen and Brown.

When Aberdeen equalised (via a handball?) too many experienced players heads went down, and didn’t come back up. With Biton the only other midfielder withheld Celtic never looked like scoring.

I was amazed that NFL didn’t change the format at half time or at the very latest from when Aberdeen took the lead (via another suspicious hand ball incident?) But it was same old same old, with Forrest intent own taking on the whole defence, and Sammi marked out of the game. The substitutions as ususal were delayed too long, and Aberdeen were worthy winners, because Brown and Johanssen never stood a chance.

A wet miserable day in Paradise.

    Non footballing matter

Great news for the diocese of Paisley, Father John Keenan, aged 49, parish priest of St Patricks in Anderston, has been appointed Bishop of Paisley.

On the footy, we were very poor today, better team won, hot what we deserved.
