I was going to post something similar re them winning the cup.

The sfa can’t put them forward, cos they know they are not eligible, end of.

I reckon they have a decent chance now, honest mistakes will see to it me thinks.

    Then the squeeling will begin, should be fun >}

Thanks for the response. I thought my post was only visible on my iPad!!!

Until the mess in Scottish football is sorted out once and for all, individual results are of minor importance.

Today ‘s result is a disaster for the hun and the collective media.

The hot ball merchants won ‘t know what kind of draw to give them tomorrow – another bye, or a tie against whatever top team is left.

Them winning the cup could be a nightmare for the SFA

  4. Sevco are now a cert for home tie v Raith, then semi final at home after that. So this should give them a good run to the final.

Ps very sorry for not being a regular poster over the last 8/9years, so do unregular posters like myself, now have to ask someone’s permission to make a post. Or is there required amount of posts per day/ week/month one must make these days, just curious.

I think well of NFL but remain unconvinced that he can move us beyond winning the league title when the huns aren’t about and despite their absence we win little silverware.

Going forward I guess we’re stuck with Neil until he fancies moving South to make way for Owen Coyle. Hardly inspirational but also just conjecture.

I don’t see exciting times ahead.

  6. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Have to admit to being really disappointed at today’s defeat and several aspects therein.

The Celtic lack passion and too many mistakes are being made. And I ain’t referring to just the team, I mean the club from top to bottom. But we are leaderless, and that alarms me, and until that is sorted we will continue to wander about in the wilderness and become less.

Aberdeen played in a Scottish Cup fixture today. Their horrible (they never used to be so poisonous) fans, players and management knew what it was. Contrast that to our players and our apathetic silent support. It actually hurt to see the top tier closed and listen to the half hearted attempts to counter the Aberdeen support’s bile.

I had hoped the attack on NFL would somehow have galvanised the support to turn up and face down the cretins. Fool me.

I had hoped his players would have had the spunk to mete out some justice too. Several looked as if they have been castrated at times. Passionless until Aberdeen took the lead then desperation is what we got today.

Lennie doesn’t seem to learn about characters though. Some disappeared, whilst their counterparts were fired-up, prepared and fed from their fans passion. The TV viewers on CQN won’t have seen the Aberdeen players run to their support before the second half to get a wee boost ?

Our problems are in-house, but top to bottom.

  7. BIG-CUP-WINNERS

Aberdeen’s fans were a disgrace and surely their directors in the stand we’re cringing at the songs and chants.

With regard to the vanishing Celtic support, we’ll need some rabbit and some hat.

What stick’s in my throat today apart from the feeling of bitter disappointment that we have now tamely exited all three cup competitions, with poor home performances, is that how often would we have the chance to contest a Scottish Cup Final at our own ground?

I will find it difficult to watch that game now and dread a set of circumstances that could come to pass which would brand it indelibly in my mind as a nightmare !!

As a season ticket holder I will turn up at the remaining games as we stroll to a title that was never in doubt, but how many other fans will do so?? Their will be an air of disappointment about what could have been and, apart from the title clincher, a lack of real atmosphere.

All my comments about the team selection, tactics, managers response (or lack of it) have already been covered, but I just cannot understand why the manager stands by Sammi when he has not committed to the club, is a yard too slow for the league, and when paired with Forrest, means us a man down in midfield as was shown today against a fired up Dons team who deserved their victory.

It’s the managers job to understand and react to tactical scenarios, so I hope he has noted that “same old same old” is just not good enough and we will hopefully see some changes to team selection in the coming months.

Like many I do this as catharsis, to vent frustration and handle disappointment.

  9. I can’t believe some of the comments today , we got beat , we were not at our best ,

NL played Sammy , who’se presence impacts on Izzy , so two positions weaker ,

Mathews not fit and JF not covering , another two positions weaker ,

How SB gets picked every week never mind team captain baffles me ,

SJ second game gets slagged off , give me him over brooony every time

Brown’s game is a tight midfield were he can use his manhandling style ,

Space for players to run by him just make him look stupid with his attempts

To stop them , anyhoo that was a sore one today . NL might now try a new

formation and players , Marcus Fraser , Henderson , Herron , Fisher , fridjonsen ,

    To name a few .

And before anyone asks , no I don’t care if we loose games if it means these guys

Are given a run of games to show if they have got it , toddles :)

  10. Auldheid,

thanks for the response. Like I said, I am a big fan of Neil.

I just think that there is too much ‘old school’ thinking in modern football. People ‘believe’ things are ‘good’…..bust ask them for data and they’ll just give you an opinion.

Was in the company of a premier league coach not long ago. I asked him this question:

    ‘What happens to corners’?

    Blank stare.

Repetitive things can be measured, and a degree of predictive thinking can help gain an advantage.

‘Into the box’ was his response.

I asked: ‘then where do they go’?

    Another blank stare.

Think about it. Then start wondering why we NEVER have anyone beyond the far post when we are taking a corner. Seriously.

Ask a goose hunter when do the geese arrive? Where do they go? How high do they fly? What’s the best way to hunt them?

You’ll get answers based on observations of repetitive behaviour.

Ask a professional coach what happens to corners. They’ll end up asking if you’ve ever played professionally.

If this happens, ask him if he has ever been a goose.

Scott Brown and one other midfielder against a decent side. More failure than success.

Off to eat my cooked goose…..:)

  12. Auldheid,

    Just saw your post.

I reckon we can only be creative when in control of the ball/midfield which we rarely were or are when we play two mid and two wide players in midfield.

We do not need two wide men as our full backs provide width. In fact having Sammi wide left inhibits Izzy’s creative surges.

Not having three in central midfield also inhibits VVD and Efe’s forward runs as Chas, Joe16 or Nir Biton have stepped into the space left when they surge forward.

We therefore have balance and cover.

Losing midfield means that our two creative forward players, Kris and Anthony, rarely get quality ball, leaving them generally unproductive. (One quality pass , Sammi to Ants provided the goal).

The biggest loss for me is that individually there is not one Aberdeen player I would have chosen over our player.

However, good players like Broonie and Stefan are marginalised due to be totally outnumbered, lack of quality passes to forwards mean Dons’ defenders easily attack the ball facing the right way, (facing away from their goal), and all our defenders, normally a source of creativity for us, were hesitant in going forward as we rarely achieved secure possession middle to front.

    Anyway that’s my take.

Aberdeen deserved their win, they were the better team.

That pretty much sums it up for me too.

Every point has been well covered today so I cant add anything, except to say that when things aren’t working out as well as they should be in any company, the reasons are identified and corrective actions taken.

PL will collect his bonus again despite his failure to address his company’s particular problem of alienating customers.

The reasons have been deliberated to death on this blog, but our views probably dont matter.

You have hit the nail right on the head.

A perfect analysis of today’s performance.

Why the manager and coaching staff couldn’t see that after 10mins baffles me.

They should know from experience that we can’t get away with the two wingers against well organised teams.
