Correct mate , that sometimes happens in football .

We let ourselves down today and I’m gutted but there appears at times people on this blog who are waiting for us to fail then come on and tell us all that they told us so .

This must be the first season in Celtic’s history that we haven’t won the Scottish Cup.

It is certainly another season in which the fans were entitled to think that it should have been won.

Only a couple of days ago I posted remarking on the stellar opposition that has recently knocked us out of domestic cup competitions.

  3. Seriously – losing to the second best team in the country is a humiliation? A disgrace? A sacking offence?

We have no automatic right to win every game. We made chances and missed them. It happens. What did Sami do – apart from set up a goal? What did Stokes do – apart from score? What did Forrest do – apart from create several good chances?

We didn’t play well and Aberdeen did. It happens in one off games. We don’t have to like it – but we have to accept it happens now and then.

Got to get this one off my chest,

Samaras, Commons and Forrest in the same team is fine once the game has been won, but not before,

C’mon Neil you bare better than that, could you not see they had packed their midfield and would swamp Samaras, Commons and Forrest,

and I’ve nothing against any of the 3 off them, in fact I like them all, just not in the same team,

my heart sank when the team was read out, oh no not again, but alas a gubbing was on the cards,

win the midfield battle, win the game, a basic requirement that Neil should be well aware off by now.

Neil Lennon’s cup record is very poor given the resources he has at his disposal.

There are plenty of people disappointed and disgusted today and each and every one of them has every right to be.

  7. Why Balde doesn’t get a start ahead of Sammi is a mystery. At least he punches his weight, is direct and has scored in most games when he has come on (late, usually), so he deserves a run together with LG. Lenny selects the same predictable formation time after time and today he did himself no favours by sticking to that..

  8. Lennon wanted to bring back the thunder to the stands. Fat chance of that happening anytime soon.

  9. Expat Celt ….

Lots of plastic Paddy deedly deedly dee pubs in Krakow…..I would avoid them all and go to the Hard Rock Cafe.

Cracking atmosphere and large selection of drinks and food.

  10. Our Mid-field was out-numbered and this was clear to see from early in the game. It was Broony and Johansen against 4.

Very few real chances created by us in fact the sheep looked more dangerous throughout.

In an environment where our resources massively outstrip those of the opposition Celtic fans are having to accept it all too often. St. Mirren, Kilmarnock, Morton etc.

    Is that ok ?

  13. they say that the worst time to comment on a defeat is right after it as you maybe say things on impulse without thought. today was bad and that will probably be our cl qualifiers squad minus WD and FF so lot of big decisions to be made at CP. Lets see if the PLC match the fans ambition on bright side denied sevco a big pay day roll on admin wont be long.

I take your point on that one but for the sake of clarity, my comments were:-

Our team today, was out planned, out thought and out fought by the Dons.

Some of our “rejects” paid us back in spades. Well done to them.

  15. Well done to the Dons, they deserved their win. Hope they win it, hope they get the Hun in the next round and give them a right doing. Only good thing that came out of to-days score, no chance of Old Firm (media terminology) match up. Let us be honest, today we were terrible, full stop. Why the feck was Sammi on from the start.

  16. Bad day at the office? I think it was more than that, body language was not good from the moment we scored. We played like we thought we could just win if we wanted. Matthews was nowhere near fit, Johansen and Brown outnumbered all day, Stokes got lost after scoring and KC had a mare.

team shape should have been changed at HT and we may have improved. Not sure though, I just feel there is something brewing in the camp, just a hunch.

hope not, still there are bigger worries in life than worrying about watching McCoist parading a trophy!! What Celtic fan would watch that?

  17. leigh griffiths magic wand on

absolute @#$@$#$# pish. I am so mad at that @#$@4 pish. how many times will Lennon play a midfield consisting of 1 or 2 actual midfielders. It’s bad enough starting with just Brown and Johansen in there but then it was obvious Johansen was having a nightmare the whole first half and didn’t get much better in the second half. It was Scott Brown on his own in midfield – the only player we had mixing it up there. Why does he continue to play Commons and Forrest together as we play terrible more times than not when they both start. And with Samaras in midfield also we were just overrun by Aberdeen. They were on top for about the last 20-25 minutes of first half and controlled the whole second half. You could sense their first goal coming cuz they were getting a head on every corner. Also where was the urgency from us in the second half. And why was a half fit Adam Matthews playing, Dons players just ran by him all game long. Johansen got slightly better in second half but was made to look worse by Lennon not wanting to play actual midfielders in midfield for us. Why not play Biton or even Henderson? Actual midfielders. It drives me crazy that he never learns. He always plays Forrest no matter what. If Commons has a bad day then there appears to be nobody on our coaching staff that has any idea of what to do next to change it up. Since the season is now over I’d like to see Balde start up front with probably Pukki since Stokes isn’t the answer for Europe anyway so it would be good to see if we have anyone else that is. It’s not like the warning signs weren’t there in our previous games against Aberdeen but he just never seems to learn. I can’t count the number of big games he’s either lost or completely failed to motivate the team for. Worse than losing was the actual pitiful performance of so many of the team with no real urgency until the last 5 minutes when it was hopeless punts and crosses that none of our strikes have gotten on the end of all season anyway and the complete inability by him to learn you have to get control of the midfield first in these types of games.

Glad to here that you cancelled Sky subscription. Never had on myself.

  19. Losing Mulgrew with Ledley gone found the midfield unable to find thier shape when pushed or turn into a unit that could move forward to create chances.Aberdeens young team played well sticking to thier plan. Russel Anderson spoke very well after the game, a bright young man.

    I’m very disapointed Neil.

  20. Remember when we had larsson, sutton, lubo and hartson we never lost a match?

We’re going to have to agree to disagree. JF gets plenty of the ball , like Izzy , but creates far too little. Fair play to him he doesn’t hide but he isn’t direct enough.

As I said earlier he wasn’t the worst. Sammi , apart from one moment of genius , did absolutely nothing. Balde , for me , is miles short of what we need in a big striker.

Not one player out there looked like they were capable of grabbing the game busy the scruff and turning it around.

Commons had , by his standards , a poor game and our creativity went with him.

  22. Joe Filippis Haircut on

In my opinion we should now start building for the CL qualifyers of the guys playing for us today I think we will lose VanDyke = 7 million Fraser Forster= 7 million Sammi= 0 and there may be doubts about others so we must be out scouting for replacements now.My fees are only guesswork we could get more we could get less. However,a Celtic manager who has the ability to outspend any other team in Scotland in transfer fees and wages should be winning more than we currently are Neil you have to sort it out fella at Parkhead without any real challenge the league is expected a European run should be expected and the league and Scottish cup should be a distinct posibility. H.H.

  23. I watch AFC at home.. This result is no surprise to me. They are a solid unit. Tell me there weakness?….

Exactly they may lack the quality we have in individual players but they are a TEAM… Led by a proper CAPTAIN.

Brown lives to do the ‘Broonie’ when we’re winning but he hides when it get tough IMO. Anderson didn’t hide today when they went 1-0 down!

The fans have been crying out for Lenny to experiment with our new players in the league for ages but why do so with 20 mins to go in an important cup tie?

Finishing the game when desperate for a goal with three novices, perhaps even four if you include Derk, is head scratching to say the least. It was crystal clear from early on that we were struggling in the middle of the park, yet no help was given to either Johanson (who was over run for most of the game) or Brown (who played very well) Biton had to have been brought on to help get a grip of the game yet he was left on the bench.

A lot of what we did today was confusing and I don’t want to be overly critical but most of this in my view was down to Lenny’s baffling substitutions/decisions.

    HH!

*Just listening to Lenny on Radio Scotland and he was saying similar about the midfield not functioning. Clearly he saw where the problem was, I just don’t know why he chose to ignore the problem. Baffled!*

You will have to emigrate to avoid having it rammed down your throat.

That is why I posted earlier that to win today was absolutely vital.

  27. Aberdeen’s first goal came after Adam M passed to a player in red – they then had a lot of possession and won a corner. The second goal came from a poor clearance by Stefan J.

You can’t blame the manager for that. Too many players had an off day. Bad for us, good for Scottish football, you could say. At least there’ll be no game against the Ungrateful Dead.

  30. Come on guys , what’s wrong with you all. so, we lost a game, it was bound to happen sometime, after all excrement happen, get over it.

    Food for thought I’d say.

Can you imagine how boring it would be if we won EVERY game we ever played, does not bear thinking about really.

Through gritted teeth I say well played the Sheep, you deserved your win.

Off to jump in front of a train, but if I’m as slow as Forster the train would go under me!!
