Superior resources do count. Have you looked at the league table recently?
Cup upsets are part of football. The main thing is to win the league. Lenny has done a remarkable job in preventing complacency and putting together a great run of wins in the league.
As I have posted earlier, Cup upsets are happening too often to Celtic who resources probably outweigh the combined resources of other clubs in Scotland.
There is a mental softness attached to Celtic.

Eventually you’re going to get a poor performance. Eventually, after so many games without conceding a goal from a corner, it will happen. Aberdeen got a lucky bounce of the ball in the box and scored. Second goal, Johansen made a mess of a clearance.

But earlier before the game, when I saw the line up I was confused – a bit sorry for wee Fisher to be honest. You try to visualise the team and I saw Forrest playing the wing and Samaras and Stokes – who’s tendency is to gravitate towards a wing – leaving Commons as our touchstone midfield forward – but worryingly what I saw as four forwards.
Leaving two in mid and the back four – with two defenders who like to bomb up the wings – that’s when I worried and within 20 mins some were confirmed and newer had arisen – Matthews was not (IMHO) mentally or physically fit – Samaras was closer to Izzy at LB and was plodding about (Which might be his style – just not needed today I thought).

Samaras is undoubtedly talented.
But his talents are better utilized in a counter attacking system which is why he was so effective in Europe last season.
He is unfortunately a momentum killer in a positive forward moving system.
He is though tried and trusted by a cautious coach.
The omission of Fisher for an unfit Mathews today was a perfect example of a fearful coach.
Cautious coaching styles are not my favorites but some have had great success with it.
Mourinho is a classic example.
Unfortunately we have a coach who lacks the ability to implement playing systems properly.
He also has never been able to create a team out of a talented squad.
We never seem the sum of our parts.
To often we moan about losing the tactical battle.
Neil Lennon is an outstanding man but unfortunately a poor coach.
Winning a one horse race is not an indication of coaching brilliance.
Today’s result was not a blip but a common occurrence in cup games during Neil’s tenure.
Last seasons European run was laudable with backs to the wall performances getting results but Neil’s other European forays have been poor.
Tony Donnely’s list will be getting bigger, and bigger……………

Poor performance,no spark as opposed to Robson and Co. who wanted it more, which is worrying.
I would have thought after the NL abuse the team would have wanted to win badly instead we gave them a platform, when in the ascendency,to pour unrelenting abuse towards NL.
Samaras poor,Forrest after resting for the first 60 mins got a few crosses in,but in my view is no better than the less vaunted Hayes.
We were over run in midfield and tactically got out thought which is not a new experience in Cup games.
A poor effort overall, almost as poor as the support for the team by the stay at Home/Pub “fans” who crave the return of the fifteen percenters.

Just back from the game. Needless to say, dire…
Reading back some of the blog and have a few questions.
Why is it when people make perfectly valid points, they are labelled glory hunters, huns, moaners etc?
Lennon’s records in domestic cups, for a manager of Glasgow Celtic, is abysmal. That must be obvious even to the ‘happiest of clappers…’ Also, there is nothing wrong with an inexperienced manager making mistakes but Neil keeps making the same mistakes again, again and again….
On top of this, the football on the whole, has been turgid, this result has been coming for months…
Celtic as a team, are not in a good place right now and haven’t been for a while. Subsequently the manager must shoulder responsibility. This isn’t just about getting knocked out, not getting a double and throwin the toys out the pram….
Calling and seeing all of this as it is, does not a ‘hun’ make.
