Good morning from a cloudy North Staffs – lying here looking out of the bedroom window it’s not Lake Como but Now Cop will have to do.
An Tearman from last night.
Relieved in a way that we made the playoffs but disappointed that we couldn’t make automatic promotion. It’s going to be difficult – Swindon are always tough but we’ll see.
Looking at the stats from yesterday Exeter had the vast majority of the possession and 17 shots on goal although only 3 on target – but it’s goals that count.

“Cast your mind back 10 years……..” But in our case to end of September last year – according to the Huns they were planning title parties already and the SMSM were in full support. Yesterday put that nonsense to bed.
Well done Ange and the bhoys for a remarkable turnaround.
Excellent day out yesterday, superb result ! met some of the best CQN folk before and after the game, a significant title to secure for Ange, With the news, confirmed C/L direct group stage qualification through the efforts of Ange, the club has money to back transfer business, Ange should receive full backing, the football squad requires some upgrading for C/L games, PL deadwood likes of 12 mil Barkas & Ajeti require moving on with others, it should be a busy transfer window

Rangers are the only club in European football history to win a European trophy and be banned from competing the next season due to the mayhem they caused in Barcelona.

Some good posts regarding Celtic and Sevco’s contrasting fortunes in Europe regardibg board strategy and priorities.
One thing that we can definitely take on board is how to better use the Bosman system for inbound transfers – something that Sevco have done pretty well in recent years.
Too many seem to equate “backing Ange” with spending money on transfer fees. A few more Matt O’Riley type signings is a far better use of limited funds but maybe doesn’t grab the headlines. It’s a big fitba world and there are a hell of a lot of decent players out there who could improve in a better team. Scouting, coaching and fitness conditioning need to be our focus for improvement – not splurging money for the sake of headlines.

Great to more or less get it over the line yesterday.
I backed Ange from the start (nice to make money off the bookies who gave 2-1 at one stage on us winning the league).
We shouldn’t forget the refereeing was ramped up this season (with the predicted compliance of the smsm) to ridiculous levels, but the manager, coaches and players raised their levels to combat it. Huge ammount of credit deserved, and, for me, the entertaining way we play makes the league win all the more joyful. Only Celtic, in Scotland, have the dna to win whilst entertaining. It’s the Celtic way and we are in for more joy imo with a second season of pre-season training, settled players and development of the system knowledge and dynamics🍀
Martim1980 on
Is should be reminded that Ange signed mostly players who are young and have room to develope, he mentioned their age when questioned over his signings, CL a different level, however, I don’t buy this rhetoric (msm and trying to divide the support and that he needs spend specific amounts- designed to take the joy out of a great campaign) just sign the right technical players with the correct attitude and mindset.

Key moments in the season
28 July 2021
Calum Mcgregor’s strike against Midtjylland. His quality goal set down a marker for the incoming Celtic players.
4 October 2021
Back on the winning road again with that late goal from Jota at Pittodrie
15 December 2021
Anthony Ralston with a 97th minute salmon leap to head the winner at Ross County when we were playing with 10 men
19 December 2021
Kyogo turns the tables on Hibs in the League Cup Final at Hampden
29 January 2022
Liel Abada’s last minute goal, with Celtic down to 10 men again, finally overcoming a resistant Dundee Utd at Parkhead
2/2/22
On this magical day Reo Hatate burst onto the scene and brought back memories of Nakamura
19th of March 2022
Giakou nets his second hat trick to confirm himself as a Celtic striker of promise
3/4/22
The old one-two at Ibrox. A game that had to be won and it was.
8th of May 2022
Player of the year Jota sets up the Duracell Bunny Maeda to send us on our way to the title
10/10 for Joe Hart, Juranovic, Carl Starfelt, CCV and Taylor for being the best defence in the league.

I’ve been saying the same for long enough.
It’s not all about spending money.
It’s about good scouting and recruitment.
Now we have a son of Lawwell in to replace someone who left 18 months ago, maybe we will improve in this area.
Very slow start — them scoring was not a surprise.
The problem was the possibility of a second and it was a close call.
Penalty / sending off against us was also on the agenda.
Very poor start.
We upped our game but the wasteful gene was on show so the tension mounted.
After 29 minutes it looked as if a draw was going to be a struggle.
We lacked focus and then there was the issue of luck.
CG was saving the difficult shots — ball going loose as always.
But by way of some luck not landing at our feet.
All the ingredients for a massive let-down.
However we plugged away and class won out in the end.
Issue is that we are not a confident support.
It is not enough to get ahead — we need to be 2 or 3 goals in front before we relax.
Not good — as the recent CL / EuL atmospheres prove.
It is not the rustling of sweety papers that is to be heard.
It is the rustle of worry beads.

I thought Calum was outstanding again yesterday.

As a man of a certain vintage it is a big issue to me — something has to be done about the standing section.
Watching the game yesterday — surprised at the number of empty seats on show.
Wondered if the early kick-off had put off some out of towners with transport difficulties.
Or even people off on holiday using a BH week to save on days off.
Then there were pictures of the standing section which told the full story.
The area is massively overcrowded with densities similar to the Jungle in its prime.
People are leaving their normal seats to wangle access into the standing section.
The stupidity of youth can never be underestimated — the divorce courts are full of it — and the situation in the standing section as seen yesterday is an accident waiting to happen.
Needs to stopped — we have responsibilities as pathfinders with this new innovation and if we muck it up and it will happen then we are wasting it for ourselves and also for others. Wee nasally no marks and their acolytes will have their excuses at the ready but people need to be saved from their own endeavours.
When it finally goes wrong they won’t be there to clean up the mess / staff the hospitals / organise the funerals and it we just leave the mess where it landed it will start to smell come the next home game.
Consequently not big and not clever.
Shambles in plain sight — needs fixed or eliminated.

Had to leave right on the final whistle so didn’t get a chance to give a last comment on the game after my amateurish attempts at giving live updates. Think I’ll leave it to the experts next time.
It’s funny how a slow start impacts your feelings for the whole game, I thought it was about 5 or ten minutes but some felt it was up to a half hour.
Reo has been getting a bit of stick lately for running on empty, think Ange sees him as being crucial to his system. We look more fluent with him in the side.
It’s been an incredible run of form, our win at ibrox in light of the start they had in that game , very similar to their euro games, was remarkable.
Yes we need a few additions to the team but Ange seems to have that covered. Looks like it will be against a strong opposition next season , don’t think they’re going to live within their means anytime soon. Ange and this Celtic team have shown us they have the stomach for the fight, up to us to back them all the way.
