  1. I would imagine a ” Head of security ” for a company responsible for tens of thousands of people would come from a former policeman with similar experience or someone from the intelligence services. As Sionnaigh intimated ” Who would be palatable to the GB ?

Bernard Higgins did his masters bidding. However the disgusting OB act was a political decision. I wonder if any of those critising his appointment actually voted in the people who introduced and defended the act ?

I am all for showing respect for the fans, however is it disrespectful to our Israeli players to wave Palestinian flags when they are playing ?

    Questions and more questions .

  2. Jota,very poor today.Calmac,very poor today.Turnbull,very poor todayGiomakis,very poor today Abada,very poor today

Juranovic,CCV,Starfelt,Biton, all did OK,and passed the ball well to the wingers and midfielders.Did their job.

    Big Tony,MOTM.

Joe Hart, bit of a bombscare twice in 1st half.Just what was he doing putting it back to Starfelt?Could have given away a penalty as well. Not great today.

    Subs

Now we see why MJ will never make it.Kyogo, not sure if he would have made a difference from the start. No space.

Totally sickened, but you don’t win any game playing with your midfield and forwards all crap on Sam’e day.Biton excluded.

  3. I very rarely read anything Ernie Lynch posts

I did read his post @8.06

    Spot on

The Green Brigade is a group of what 2-300 fans

That left the other 55,000 plus today to start and lead the signing

The 100 Kano Foundationkids most certainly tried

    Didn’t hear many join in

The Green Brigade were not to blame for a flat Celtic performance

Was the penalty save Not the first save the keeper actually made ?

The only other effort looking on target was the Ralston shot, headed away by a defender

I stated a few weeks ago,we really need to stop this passing backwards and sideways, after breaking a team defensive line, allowing teams time to regroup.

We need to have players breaking forward and creating space

    I am not seeing this

Once in the first Half Giakoumakis broke down a wing

Only Jota had got into the box by the time he reached the 18yard line

    Woeful

  4. Henrik missed a few penalties!!

Livingston will destroy football ,but this is Scotland, who cares

The most important thing today was we didn’t have our shooting boots on ,and wide men who couldn’t make a Cross for a hot cross bun

  5. can give a false impression of the observed reality. Passes made, crosses in, possession % etc. Another pet hate, though a favourite of Paul67s (who is good at numbers) was the distance covered by a player during the match, backtracking etc. Wayne Rooney, in his latter years up his stats by jogging around the pitch while Ronaldo was criticised last week for not doing enough to win the ball back last week. Ronaldo! Answered the critics today though. Again. On paper CalMac was world class today, but as Bill Shankly was wont to say, we tend to play on grass, most of the time.

  6. After 20 minutes I commented to my son that we were pedantic in the middle of the park, side & back passes constantly slowing down our attacks giving Livi time to reorganise and reset their lines. Biton was assured but slow in his use of the ball, effectively taking the sting out of our forward momentum.

Anada seemed under instruction to take a pass and play it back with little evidence that he was capable of taking on a defender and getting beyond him. Ralston was forever played in by Abada to deliver a cross, generally failing to find a team mate. It seemed as though Jota was the designated forward to attack their defence and deliver a cross ball though again failing to find a team mate to finish off the move – our attacking players were effectively screened by the Livi defence time after time.

The tactics hardly changed throughout the game even though the tactics were failing – hardly a shot on target in the first 85 minutes. With 15 minutes remaining the sucker punch looked possible, thankfully it didn’t happen.

Madden seemed to be a key component in Livi’s time wasting, and he gave Livi freedom to come through the back of players without punishment let alone a yellow card. Madden’s game management is masterful, I’ve said that before.

I listened to Clyde 1 on the way home telling us that Kyogo was embarrassing in the way he went down after the “slap” in the back of his head – they didn’t recognise that Madden would have ignored it otherwise.

    Poor poor penalty, enough said

At the end of the day we didn’t deserve 3 points.

  7. FP, Livingston will do nothing of the kind, other than give a make believe town a name. Livingston will always be just making up numbers. Plastic footballers on a plastic pitch, a plastic club in a plastic town.

  8. glendalystonsils on

Can’t remember a single instance where Mikey Johnston ran at a defender today . He was tentative , giving the defender nearest him time to be backed up by a second defender. Abada seemed likewise reluctant . We needed our wingers to commit the Livvy defenders , which might have got us a few free kicks around the box if nothing else . Instead of which we got too much of the turn around and pass it back routine .

  9. Will be tens of thousands of protesters in Glasgow next week, How are they going to even attempt to get their voice heard without the Green Brigade?

  10. glendalystonsils on

It’s a poor penalty indeed if the keeper not only saves it but holds on to the ball comfortably .

  11. Now, if you have Hartson, Larsson and Sutton in the box it might make sense to keep getting the crosses in.

    G Mack? Less so.

  12. SIONNAIGH on 30TH OCTOBER 2021 8:21 PM

SS, I think you’ll find GG was nominated penalty taker by our numpty Ange. Imagine nominating GG, Four penalties missed from the last ten ffs.

He’d missed one in the last ten before today. When he was signed one of the stats quoted against him being a bargain was that 9 of his goals last season were pens.

  13. It’s perfectly reasonable to have someone with a 90% conversion rate as your nominated penalty taker

Transfermarkt has Juranovic as not having taken any pens before he came to Celtic.

  14. The pen came about through their player having a brain fart – not as a result of our play. To focus on the penalty misses the point – Livi have our number. We learned absolutely nothing from the first match against them. We did the exact same thing as we did in the first match – endless crosses. That’s concerning.

The jury is still very much out on our gaffer for me.

  15. Just back from a rare, poor performance. The team seemed to lack zip today (perhaps because they are human) but I cannot fault their effort.

I have been at quite a few 0-0 games where, had we taken our chances, we could have won by five or so. Today wasn`t one of those games.

I said to a guy before the game that I had read that the players quite like Madden. I wonder if they still felt like that after half an hour !

The penalty miss rubbed salt in the wound but I think we should direct some of our criticism towards Livingstone. They played football as a business rather than a sport and , from me, will receive no praise whatsoever.

I could go on but I will leave it at that and just hope this was a one off, below standard game.

PS I have yet to be convinced by GG.

  16. DD,PL and the Boared missed an easy penalty kick today to be sure, which could lose us the league.

  17. In sport the best way to force mistakes is to apply pressure. Today was a massive missed opportunity to do that. It was more than 3 points today, it was the chance to go top of the league and we flopped.

Rogic was missing but too many changes upset our rhythm, the midfield balance was all wrong. Bitton was too slow and safe on the ball and the others looked lost. Gio offered nothing and Abada is miles off it. Jota had a poor day but totally normal for a young player. Johnston continues to frustrate.

The penalty should have went to Juranovic. A really poor decision.

The basic issue is the squad is not strong enough. We cant make that many changes and move forward seamlessly. Ange will have to learn that quickly or forget the title.

  18. Anyone else’s first thought when we got the penalty was we will miss it? That was mine. The writing was on the wall. As 50 mins, became 60, then 70, then 80 it was obvious we were never going to score.

My other thought was I wish we could set up our defence like Livi’s when protecting a lead away from home in Europe. Imagine facing 80 crosses in two games and not conceding and your goalie not having to make a save.

  19. Park the bus > blootir it > simple on

    Fae the pish flowing Jungle….

    …..to the boring pishy library.

    A club like no other.

  20. can’t for the life of me understand what GG brings to our style of play and why change a free flowing attack to include a player who stifles our play.

  21. CELTIC40ME

“It’s perfectly reasonable to have someone with a 90% conversion rate as your nominated penalty taker.”

Not so reasonable when your last successful kicker is on the field and has a 100% conversion rate.

    ———–

A truly pathetic effort, terrible run up and terrible strike. Not good enough.

Regards your other point, Michael Johnston isn’t good enough and he never will be.

    ——

Agree with every sensible word you say.

Turning to the GB, it seems to punch and be acknowledged way above its weight – to me, like all Casuals groups, it is beneath contempt. It is a militant tendency that supports Celtic only on its own terms.

It got privileged status with the advent of the standing section – 99% of us leave our politics outside CP – seems GB can’t, or, won’t. The GB taint our club week in and week out and we tolerate this because it’s noisy…..as I’ve said many times, so are empty barrels.

  24. Just in from the game. Great to be at CP again. Didn’t realise how much AR does and how important he is until I saw it in the flesh. Livi did sfa, parked the bus and blootired it, we had no answer to them; ah well. Their 60 fans had a good day and weren’t obnoxious.

  25. 96 Minutes played the same tactics from start to finish with no end product,Why didn’t he change the system say after 65 minutes when clearly it isn’t working,it’s to early to say who is going to win the league, but if Ange and his coaches stick with the system he wants the players to play, well personally we know we’re the league’ is going to end up with Ange heading back to Down Under.

  26. CELTIC40ME, is that including international games? I’m at a loss, BBC Scotland and SSB sounded every bit estatic with the stat as they were emphatic.

  27. Park the bus > blootir it > simple on

Celtic were born out of politics.

    Celtic supporter’s are political arseholes.

Celtic supporter’s vote for a political party that longs to jail them.

Celtic supporter’s financially sustain a PLC who are complicit in the attempt to jail the supporters.

Best fans in the world ?

Only in their working class days, before Thatcher turned them into customers, after her Hillsborough overreaction trickery, just ask Liverpool fans.

Seville was a one off as we were “marching with O’Neill” and now we can’t even stand up straight.

  28. Anyway, why change a winning formula, I don’t get it. Ange failed miserably today. If he wants to experiment, that’s all and well very good when we’re coasting the league. He gutted the momentum from that team midweek that demolished Hibs in 30 mins. What an idiot. You keep the momentum going and only change when it fails….and change early, not when it’s too late.

  29. Ange is not the first Celtic manager to struggle against Livingston. You can be sure that the players all knew exactly how Livi were going to play, that they practiced for it.

Pre-match who would have believed that if we had Jota, GG, Kyogo and MJ on the park for 20-25 mins we’d fail to get a shot on target?

Jota has shown plenty of times he can cut inside and unleash stingers. Calmac and DT almost always manage to test the keeper from outside the box. Abada has shown he has the ability to drift in at the back post and nick a goal.

Yet here was a game where no one other than Ralston had a shot on target.

    Strange day.
