It is a complex issue — that is why NL needs help.

As a club we need to support him starting with a €5mill+ CF.

Then PL needs to find a growth agenda.

Barca can go out and get just about any player they fancy.

Milan spend tens of millions on individual players.

Even Ajax spend three or four times our limit.

This year we didn’t punch above our weight. Whose to blame?

Maybe we could get seriously into debt to get to Ajax’s level.

Aw FFS,here we go again.”Get into serious debt”Who is asking for that?.We spent about£4-5 million on projects.

  4. How much are DU asking for RG?

That is the price of keeping in the game.

JR was the cheap play our arrogance lost.

Where are we now with two projects and a sulk?

    Only the good ones?

The recruitment of strikers since Neil took over, with one exception, has been lamentable.

  6. A 6 foot 7 inch goalie needs to doninate his 6 yard box….at least …and he doesn’t. He is a shot stoppper but that is it. End of.

  7. The football, eh?

It can make you feel really good about life in general or it can hack you off big time.

It can also introduce you to people, either in real life or through their blogs or posts.

Sad to hear about Paul McConville tonight.

  8. Good analysis tonight, only player capable of taking play forward at pace was big Efe, Lustig is, I believe our best player and also our fittest sadly I think big Sammy is for the off.

  9. leftclick Together we will get justice for the Dam 5 on

    Paul McConville R.I.P

    The fitba can wait tonight

    God speed big man

  10. PL does financial stupidity / bonus building / freak-a-nomics.

    MR — How much?

    MB — How much?

    TP — How much?

    AB — How much?

    And tonight?

We are left with a 21st century TC figure playing CF.

But PL is worth his bonus …

If you accept that on the majority of occasions we will beat SPL teams because the extra money we spend gives us that edge, then logically we will also get beaten on the majority of occasions that we face teams with far greater resources than us.

Not true.Look at Basle.Twice beat Chelsea, and did brilliant last season. They have good teamwork, and good strikers. One goal from set play,a deflection,in 450 mins of football,is the reason we are out.The Zonal marking by us has always been woeful. Why do we keep doing it at this level?.

    End of story ?

He’s an International goalkeeper, stay on your line and watch the ball go past you ?

Bullshit and not poor decision springs to mind !

  13. Fastest ever home from a European game thanks mainly to to the mini exodus that started after Milan went two up.

The Blog will be free for all the ‘told you so’s’, but I’ll keep my eye out for anyone that can properly justify, not the spend, but who it was spent on.

Samaras was asked to reinvent himself as a centre forward and none of our recognised strikers, were good to go at the start the game? – enough said.

The problems are much deeper though and Beram Kayal’s ‘injury’ tells a story, it wasn’t a good summer window and when James Forrest Kris Commons and ‘a flying Dutchman’ you forgot was playing are the creativity, with no strikers, at that level, you can kiss goodbye to Europe.

The game swung from defeat to hammering when the otherwise excellent Van Dyjk showed why he only started his career as a centre forward, Celtic then crumbled .

I would take Gauld in a heartbeat…..he is what we do not currently have on board……

The cry was no Defenders, on a night when, as we all know you have to step up to the mark, and we did’nt.The defence at set pieces was a joke, schoolboy stuff, and when you get a hint of a chance to score, you got to take it at this level. However enjoyed the party at the Big Table, and all being well we might qualify next season, but when you see two centre backs are the only threat in the mid-field, I think you are lacking in the service to the front, and then we are a wee bit short up there, again maybe I am being to hard on us tonight, but then again we are Punching above our weight, getting there is our only Goal.

  16. Inter supporting elderly neighbor has gone ——– looks like it will take a Rube loss tomorrow night to restore his homeostasis.( Napoli losing helped him a wee bit ).He couldnt believe the defending at the first 2 goals. Nor could I.

I shall have one more glass of grappa and give the 12 ” version of Jackie Mittoo s -Mash down Babylon a very loud blast..( a therapeutic choon )

Win some, draw some ,lose some . Such is life , but hey, handing the opposition victory on a plate bugs big time.

I disagree, the Board would like the club to do well in the group stages and beyond, why wouldn’t they want to do well, more money, more exposure, more everything good.

They may not risk too much in trying to do so, and an argument can be made for how much is too much, but that ain’t the same as not wanting to.

  18. aromananonly1

Am no wanting to have an argument with you.

Players do what they are told, if they don’t they don’t play.

We can disect it till the cows come home, players do what they are told to do, and Fraser is told to stay on his line and let his defenders take control.

The 6 yard box is F F zone. He started to come then went back. Ka ka must have thot it was his birthday!!

  20. There is a lot I want to say,but I will leave most until tomorrow, but if I was a goalkeeper ,with confidence,I would tell the defence/ coaches how I would defend corners etc.,.I have said it before ,Forster is not good enough for Celtic, sell him now ,go and get Westwood .

I will be back tomorrow to give my view on other selections, when I calm down.

  21. the long wait is over on

All of our weaknesses exposed in 90 minutes by a good but not great Milan.

    No striker.

No midfielder who can put their foot on the ball and pick a killer pass.

No composure in front of goal.

A goal keeper whose weakness , one of his few, is that he won’t come off his line.

Weakness at the back post on set pieces.

Is anyone REALLY that surprised at tonight’s result or performance?

  22. Magnificentseven supporting Oscar all the way on

jeez………… not a night to be on here, full of clowns you only ever see after a bad result…sad really

    Well, you for one.

Will one £5m player be ok for you? Why not get two, or three. Throwing money at a problem rarely solves it. Ask the huns.
