  1. valentinesday DAMands justice for the 5 on

    Goodnight Timland?

Dear God they don’t have come out the woodwork!!!!

  2. Our approach to the opposition goals is one paced. Even average Celtic teams down the years had a spark or change of pace in the final third. I feel sorry for Commons who like Nakamura before him had mediocre strikers to try and engineer chances with.

We don’t look like a team that can score goals and that is the name of the game

  3. TET

Not looking for a row either, but how do you know he was told to stay on his line ?

I don’t really care about his England ambitions I only care about Celtic, but if his instructions are to stay on his line at every corner then he’ll be watching the World Cup on TV like the rest of us, we don’t need robots we need him to make decisions and either catch or punch the ball away when it’s 4 yds out – end of story !

  4. Re. Ryan Gauld, he wouldn’t get on our bench. Not because he’s not good enough but because he is not the Celtic style of midfielder. Far too positive, too many forward passes. He hasn’t mastered the crab style football that our midfielders have perfected

And in fairness, maybe we should try a few of our own youngsters (the ones who have won the league & cup double for 4 years in a row) before signing others.

  5. Just home. Efe is a diamond, even though that 20million striker mugged him tonight. Wish we had a penalty box predator.

Just Not Good Enough. For Europe, without a #9.

  6. jude2005 is Neil Lennon \o/

Yes reported today, but didn’t say if it happened last week or not.

Usual piss on our parade stuff from BBC

  7. Big Efe making exactly the same mistake against Balottelli as he did last year at Juve’s first.

Big man sure can take the ball for a walk, but he ain’t no centre half.

Maybe we need some £5m defenders.

  8. CultsBhoy loves being 1st forever & ever on

Lustig, looked gutted and called it right on SSB – not acceptable to score so few goals..I like the guy a lot..

It’s no an easy thing for a keeper, the ball comes in and he expects his defenders to take control, they didn’t and it’s too late.

That is the by product of zonal marking, they are told to stick to the plan, and the plan didn’t work.

I posted before the game started that I hoped the plan would work with the starting line up, it didn’t sadly.

But I will tell you this, the zonal marking will not change.

Now that we are out of Europe, I will be interested to see if we have another style of play.

I suggested last week that NL had adopted a negative format, both for domestic and Euro games, in the name of continuity.

It was the only acceptable explanation for the turgid performances in the SPL.

Contrary to popular opinion, I think our problems lie in midfield.

We have a collection of average players there, all lacking any pace.

We don’t have anyone in the engine room who has a football brain.

I blame the manager for that. Like his predecessors he doesn’t trust flair players.

Commons is a shadow of the lad who came to the club. He is unfit and merely holds up the play.

Apart from set pieces, we seldom carry a potent threat from midfield.

Sort it out, Neil, or take one of those jobs you are touting yourself for down south.

    Derk is ……………………..scared ……..to commit……..he talks a big game……..but……….

as we saw tonight………………he just dinae measure up……………….IMO

  12. Too many player who lack composure and a decent touch. Time for a mini clearout.

This isn’t a knee-jerk reaction, this is based on the football for over a year. Dull and devoid of flair and excitement. At a time of falling crowds more will stay away without entertainment.

Let’s see what Rogic, McGeouch,, Biton etc can do as we already know what Kayal, Mulgrew (in midfield) and Samaras contribute.

Drop the stars and see what we have.

  13. the stench of Arbroath smokies is strong on here tonight.

Oh well, nice to give them a platform to talk about proper football

  14. Posted my thoughts earlier but maybe I should be more direct, we lack a striker and that’s SPL level never mind Champions League,

We refuse to use our youth players, and seem to be unable to learn from our mistake.

People wll blame the board but in my life a manager must take the bit when hinge don’t work

We are not learning, we are not changing and to be honest winning he league at the present time is equal to a flat track bully

I think Neil can do more but it needs to be soon and it needs

To be a more exciting style of play.

Or if not anyone. Could do what he’s doing with the resources he has

  16. I’m sure forcing Hooper to stay and see out his contract would have guaranteed top drawer performances.

Having tabled a bid for Finbogasson we’d have got some indication from his agent on his feelings about the move. I’m fairly sure he didn’t fancy it. It would probably taken at least 1 and a half seasons to move from us versus half a season by staying put.

Not read back, are the usual entitled malcontents coming out of the woodwork after a defeat? Life is hard when you don’t appreciate what you have and carp on about what you don’t. That goes for any sphere in life.

Celtics season was already a success when Jamsie’s rocket went in against Karagandy. Money in bank, huns deid and a wee gallus ginger is in charge on the park enraging the dignified tsk, tsk brigade. Happy days.

Zonal marking is what it says on the tin, players have to stick to the plan, and we defend zonally.

Forget all about what Fraser want’s to do, it’s in the game plan.

Just say he decides that he wants to come for the ball, and he makes a bollix of it, what happens then, he is slaughtered.

His defenders made a bollix of it, end of.

Did you follow the action,s of the Milan keeper every ball in the air was his at all set pieces,I for one don’t get it re FF not attacking the ball so close to goal at corners, to me that should be basic’s in goalkeeping, which has cost us dearly in the last two games.

Saw three or four saying – time to move Sammi on – any of you care to explain why?

Surely not the “he’s not a good striker” chestnut.

Also saw someone saying – move Commons on – again, why get rid of our better players?

    Logical reasons, any of you?

I was down at Ravenscraig with my son yesterday for U12 Scottish Schools select games…I honestly saw more confidence and tactical awareness from these young guys than some of our players showed tonight..

  22. Guys be careful what you wish for. We had this argument when WGS was our manager about our team being boring. This sort of thinking brought in Mowbray.

  23. Vargasshampoo,

Spot on – Gauld and Armstrong are exactly what we need but Gauld is already probably too expensive for us, we already missed the boat with Jonny Russell and wasted £2.2 million on Pukki, maybe we’ll learn our lesson and look closer to home instead of wasting money tracking and scouting DUDS like Pukki and many more of the same ?

The stench of arrogance when it comes to RG.

Just where are the players who have won the league and cup double 4 years in a row?

    Well where we’re they tonight?

    We have quantity over quality.

    Then we have poor coaching.

    And a fear of youth.

    DMcG = Case in point.

One man army when he won the Youth Cup for the TFOD.

    Where is he now?

Has he lost it in his head?

Or have we lost him in the flood of imported projects?

  26. Punt Forster,Lustig,Forrest. We can get a good keeper,Mathews and Fisher can cover the right back position. We scould take in £15-17 million for the 3.That would get us a striker, to play with Atajic,,buy Gauld, with Broony and another hardman ,Tomlin,to play either side of him,buy the striker from ICT.Should all be bought in January and let play till the end of the season.Nonsense?.Well any idea is not nonsense when we cannot even beat Morton at CP,dont think they have won since, and we continue to do the same old, same old.Drastic re-think required.Too much dross clogging up the dressing room, stifling change.Wont be with Lenny right enough.

All very well…..but….the 6 yard box is the keeper’s

and he is 6′ 7″ ; so whit happened? That kicked off our worst

    Good Evening.

I met Paul McConville for the first and last time only 4 nights ago at the Columba club in Blantyre. Whilst we had exchanged e-mails and messages via his blog over the last couple of years, we had never met in the flesh until just a few days ago when he greeted me with a handshake, a smile and the words ” Brogan Rogan– it’s finally good to meet you— at long last!”

During our brief conversation, much of which was shared with Morrisey 23rd, we talked about mutual acquaintances, courts, some other mundane legal stuff, and I asked about his beloved Albion Rovers and their lofty position within Scottish Football.

I cannot pretend that I knew Paul well, but I felt as if I knew him far better than I should for someone who had just met him on that once occasion.

Further, I think I am duty bound to say that on occasion I found him a brave man in his writing and in his approach to life. He was someone who openly and publicly declared that he was not and never had been perfect, and who would take on all the slings and arrows that were thrown at him by those who did not like what he wrote about and who did not share his views on certain topics.

I know of those who acclaimed him professionally for the help he gave to those who sought his counsel, and there will be a body of people who will have lost a champion with his passing.

However, that passing came at far too young an age and as a result there is a wife and some young children who tonight face tomorrow without their guiding light, their shoulder to cry on and the captain of their ship.

He will be sadly missed in many circles, and his untimely death renders the result of a football match completely and utterly irrelevant and of no consequence.
