Dublinbhoy – you’re spot on about johansen – massive fall off in quality – it hurts me to type it but I think of barry ferguson when I watch him now. We can only improve in europe – fugg knows when but we can only improve.

Respect your right to hold an opinion that soccer is not a game for realism. However, those who lose a grip of reality may stray into the realm of delusional. We will be without Biton, Johansen, and possibly Brown and Simunovic against Ajax, and have lost at least 2 goals a game in the Europa group stage so far. If you think this gutless Celtic team will win in Istanbul, then I think I would like to sample some of what you are smoking!

I’m not going to say much.
Tonight was as poor a performance in Europe that I believe I’ve seen in a long time. It really was gutless with the exception of young Kieran Tierney who once again displayed leadership and application that most of his team mates can only wonder at.
Never mind systems and tactics and everything else, we’ll continue to struggle badly if we can’t do the basics right.
For me one of the biggest is our inability to track runners. Domestically we’re not often faced with opponents running in behind our midfield let alone our back 4. In Europe it’s part of the game. I’m sick and tired of watching Celtic players allowing the opposition to run into space with no one going with them. Against decent players, and Molde have plenty of them, we’ll get punished.
On a bright note the wean, despite witnessing her first defeat loved it and now wants to go to Dingwall on Sunday!!!

Ronny has to take some of the blame for tonight. The buck stops with him. However he has genuine excuses.
1 Your game plan is seriously affected after 3 minutes , by the time Blackett gets on 5 minutes later , Boyata is having to adjust to the 2nd of what will be 4 Centre Back partners over 90 minutes.
That’s a recipe for a horror show and that”s how it turned out. The number of injuries that we get has been a serious concern for some time now. Something isn’t right , either that or we are extremely unlucky in that area.
2 Recruitment. He has an input, but the last 2 windows have produced next to nothing so far. Armstrong & GMS sparkled for a couple of months when they signed , but since then have been average at best. The poverty of our striker signings continues, with Cifci , at least to me, looking worse than Pukki and no better than Bangura
We need to get back to the strike rate we enjoyed at the start of Neil’s time as manager. We are well off the pace just now
Where Ronny is to blame is the system that we use in Europe.
For whatever reason we have not been able to play a pressing game and it is killing us defensively, especially when we continually have both full backs ahead of the midfield . Tonight when Forrest came on he had nowhere to go as Lustig was playing as a right winger. That forced Forrest inside where Molde had a packed defense. That happened on the other side as well. It seems to me to be helping an opposing team who want to press and play on the break when we reduce the size of the attacking space with our tactics. The reverse is true in that we leave huge spaces in our defense .
I would definitely stick with Ronny, but he has to be ruthless. Players who won’t or can’t play the way we were in the 2nd half of last season have to go. We need more dynamic players and ones who won’t be bullied the way we were by Molde and Malmo.
We are now in a real hole . No Biton, no Johansen and possibly no Brown against Ajax.
Ronny if you get some more time being the coach at Celtic,do yourself a favour and get rid of the scouting set up ,them scouts are not up to it, and if there a few youngs ones in the Develpoment squad who like Tierney give them a go, cant be any worse than what you have at the present,and I said yesterday forget about what the TAX CHEATS are up to,after watching a very poor performance this evening, we have our own problems

Ronny’s decision to sun off CB and put a player with no tackling prowess or speed in his place smacked of amateurism.
Shame for Bitton who is playing fairly well for the team.
I said at the time it was a resignation letter or a master stroke.
If he is sacked it needs to be before the AGM to save him a grilling and give the the new guy a window.
If he survives, he is charmed. If I made that many repeat errors in my job, I would be gone
Hard to pick what was the most inept piece of football tonight – so many candidates but my award goes to Johannsen and Boyata for their part in Bittons sending off, which killed the game.
Johannsen gives Boyata pelters for not going forward then gives him the ball. Boyata runs 10 yards into the Molde half and Johannsen follows him leaving no one in central defence and not one single Celtic player within 10 yards of our half against a team we KNOW play on the break.
With a depressing inevitability we give the ball away under no pressure. Molde chip it forward to a runner and Bitton walks.
Possibly the most amateurish piece of football I’ve ever seen from so called professionals.
If we are throwing names into the pot as to who should be boss if RD tea is out then BR ex reds would do for me

To be fair to HT he said griping was fine but not at the game- I agree with that for what it is worth.
I think we are all unhappy but I think booing is for pantos.
On the other hand, when we cheered Tierney at the end, Ciftci tried to join in with massive lack of self awareness. I was tempted to boo then!

I play amateur football, and I can guarantee you, me and my team mates make mistake’s, but not often the fundamentals I witnessed tonight.
Start of 2nd half, we had 1 striker up against us.
That’s 1 guy to manage between a Backline of 3,or 4.
That Bitton has to get sent off, demonstrates to me, that we still send a team out that can’t do or understand the basics.

Not too long in from the game. I’d be mega pissed off if I had come over just to watch that game but I came over for my son’s 21st birthday which is today. As I said to him after the game we watched Kieran Tierney and 10 imposters tonight. The other overpaid members of that squad should take a look at that young man and hang their heads in shame as well as paying their wages back, that they take under false pretences. Luckily Efe didn’t get a game as he would have gotten the blame for the team’s performance.

Our system is flawed for European football we can all see it so why can’t the manager?
We commit too many players forward when in possession yet our attackers lack movement & craft to open up well organised defences (Even at SPFL level). Our CB’s are so far apart that all it takes is for someone to miscontrol a ball or make a slack pass & you can drive a bus through our defence. How many times (not just tonight) do we lose the ball in the attacking final third & two passes later the opposition are having a shot at our goal? Thankfully Molde lacked any real quality or tonight’s result could have been more embarrassing.
Ronny is a lovely guy & like many others I really wanted to see him succeed but we can’t carry on with this naive system. This wasn’t a top European side tonight, Molde in my opinion were no better than Aberdeen. Loathed to see a good man lose his job but Ajax & Fenerbace drawing tonight has only delayed the inevitable. We should be looking for a replacement now!

Agree with most of your analysis except for the part where you almost excuse Forrest for his typical contribution.My heart sank when he was announced as a replacement for Commons,as he is not the type of individual you introduce to recover a shambles,however tonight he was in good company ( Tierney excepted)
as he fitted right in as they all produced gutless contributions.
Something not right in our setup,apart from poor tactics,who is monitoring the effectiveness of our Scouting Dept.How many agents are involved,and is it the same agents who are constantly supplying players who become duds when under fire.
Molde were an ok,ORGANISED team, no great shakes,but made us look ridiculous.
Very Disappointed.
