According to the Times/Herald headline on Newsnow, Thistle won a ‘brilliant’ point against us tonight. Couldn’t possibly be as ‘brilliant’ as the stupendously brilliant point Sevco got against us, surely ?

I also wonder if that was just an ‘ordinary’ point Killie got against them tonight?

  2. 50 shades of green on

Thought the Ref was decent tonight, even wee shades said he was OK, so we wont be seeing him again for a while eh dad, dont know who he was though.

  3. !!BADA BING!! on 5TH APRIL 2017 10:33 PM

Fair play to Thistle, as soon as Izzy went off, they played on it.

Bada, I’d just said to my mate that we were ‘missing’ a link (no sausage jokes!) on the left side after Izzy was taken off and no-one was moved over, when the Jags moved swiftly down that side of the park (partly helped by The Great Dane being slow on the cover) and … bang….there’s yer goal!

Brendan has been a revelation with the impact of his substitutions this season, but he actually created an imbalance in the team for a few minutes before moving Gamboa over to the left.

  4. When does the Pedro revolution start?

Let’s not “dis” the “magic hat”

    Tune and changed.

  5. Sometimes oor Brendan can be quite subtle.

Talking on the official site about Eboue he mentioned him settling into the game and said …………….

“He is learning how to tackle and he serves the ball well. I thought he did well after that little spell of arriving into Scottish football.ā€

Learning how to tackle? I think he means learning what he will get away with in Scotland, plying for Celtic, as opposed to those other pesky countries and teams he’s played in and for.

Must say I agreed with him, he fairly grew in to the game.

  6. Hope Kouassi starts again on Saturday, this time with either Armstrong or Brown beside him.

  7. !!Bada Bing!!

Live up to my name? I suppose by thinking there was some sort of karma in how far Kris Commons has slipped off the scene, i was referring to some sort of “Cosmic law and order ” at play. (Smileyfacething)

I can’t see how anyone who tried to get rid of their previous boss would think they would have any sort of future under the next boss.

  8. I thought that by the time he was substituted Kouassi showed he has a future at CP.

Otherwise a bit disjointed but when the edge of needing to win goes, form inevitably dips

  9. macjay1 for Neil Lennon on

Almost glad to get the silly 100% win record off our backs .

Loss of points now is an irrelevance in terms of the league.

    Its over.

Brendan is most probably , as we would expect , running the rule over the current playing staff with a view to making decisions about which players to retain.

Currently , we would seem to have an embarrassment of riches.

Big Ajer looked good for Killie tonight.

He may even have played against the hun , were he eligible.

  10. TET

In a table of wage bill and average wages a player earns, Partick Thistle are second bottom with St Johnstone just above.

The latter are in top six and PT vieing for a place, which suggests both clubs are getting more bang per buck than the teams above them and either manager would do a better job at Ibrox than previous managers and current encumbent.

  11. I was relieved to get away tonight still unbeaten. I didn’t think we did enough to win and every corner or free kick they got in the last 20 mins was I thought likely to end up in our net.

I don’t remember seeing the ref, Greg Aitken, before. Wow, he is a cracker. Four times we were fouled but retained possession and four times he pulled us back. Then, when we were frantically trying to get the winner we took a quick throw in about 10 yards further back than when the ball went out of play and he stopped play and make us take it where the ball went out!

Has anyone ever seen that done?

Meanwhile across the city I note:

“Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha: “We have a culture of winning and getting the three points all the time. So we cannot be happy drawing the game.”

What culture? He’s won one game in three!

Did they just let the previous guy “resign” despite having a “culture” of winning? I reckon it’s unlikely given that they’ve only won 14 of their 31 league games!

  12. Good afternoon Macjay

I’ve missed out on letting you know that Rab Lambert remembers you fondly, and says you are missed at reunions.

However – get aft there bevy – we didn’t have a 100% win record to lose tonight.

In general we have ‘slumped’ after sewing the league up – it’s a bit like the pathetic attempt we have all had to continue our stag night, a peak is a peak and it is hard to repeat immediately. I am glad we have the droop out of our system before big games like Ross County :-)

ā€œI wasnā€™t even close to doing that,ā€ said Deila. ā€œI WAS the boss at Celtic. That is when you do have to make decisions. I wasnā€™t afraid of making decisions. That is the only way I feel you can improve as a coach and a person as well. You need to make mistakes. You need to make decisions, you have to take risks. And I have always done that in my career. If you are in a comfort zone you always go to the next level. At Celtic I found that unbelievably hard, but also very interesting.

ā€œBut Norwegian footballers are more ā€¦ well for one, they are not millionaires,ā€ he added. ā€œThat means they donā€™t get all that attention they get in Scotland. There are less foreign players as well, so it is maybe a more united group. If you had only Scottish players in your team then I think you would get the same thing. Also the culture in Norwegian society is more liberal. It is more open. Here, everybody will come into my office and talk to me. Here you play 38 games, if you are lucky enough to get to the cup final. There it was 60 a year. It is a very tough life. Being here is a holiday compared to Celtic.ā€

    Or , to summarise :

ā€ The job was too big for me and I have now returned to my comfort zone ā€œ.

  14. I thought that Partick Thistle were quite well organised defensively tonight. Helped by a lack of physical presence in our front players . Kouassi grew into the game and will be an asset.

The substitution left us unbalanced and Thistle capitalised . The point dropped is no big deal . There’s more games like this to come.

A consequence of winning the league in March .

Still smiling , still happy . HH

  15. Disappointing from the team tonight . In fact ide say we have lost a bit of sparkle . I also think our manager made a boob tonight taking off Emilio . They never threatened us until then . We will need to buckup our ideas for the semi final ,at present we’re not good enough to beat 14 men . Btw what’s the latest on the griff , is he out long term .

  18. Just arrived home after a very pleasant evening at Celtic Park – well, isn’t every evening a pleasant evening at CP. Not a great game, but with so many changes and Erik not being a left back it was hardly going to stick in the mind as a classic. Great to meet a few CQNers at long last. Must try to meet some more before Lisbon. Had a feeling their keeper knew Sincy was going to put it in the same spot as Sunday ….ah, well, no real damage done. Early start tomorrow, so land of nod beckons, as does the thought of missing out on the banter between MacJay & The Donald.

    GG

Yes, on the whole he played well. Got caught out once, misjudging the bounce of the ball, and gave away a foul in a dangerous position. He has good positional sense and is very comfortable in possession, and plays out from the back very well. Perhaps a tendency to be careless but I am sure Brendan and Kolo will put him right there. All of that will come with experience, but at only 18 he is a great prospect in my opinion.

    ———————————————

Thanks for the update. I was hoping he was in the mould of George Connelly and would have a good chance of breaking into the squad soon.

JJ, Myself and several like minded Rangers fans tried to organise a ā€œDave King Outā€ protest at the Kilmarnock game tonightā€¦There was about 20 of usā€¦We had arranged to meet up on social media.

Unfortunately for us..There had been a rat and we ended up being surrounded by a mob of about 80 ā€œfansā€ who were obviously there to shut us upā€¦.several of them opened up their jackets to reveal weapons hidden inside and told us they would be used if we didnā€™t disperse and move on.

I have decided that i will no longer go to Rangers games until Mr King and his Peaky Blinder brigade are gone.

    This is the last strawā€¦
