Hatate scored twice in the biggest game of the season
He’s started 17 games for Celtic, we’ve won 15 of them and drawn 2 in 90 minutes against the horribles
You can see why Ange might keep him in the team

At the end , some huns did try to get on but sorted quickly. Both sets of players got to walk to the fans ; no hassle

A lot of hatred for Reo Hatate it seems.
Kid’s played 15 months non-stop and played his part in our title win. Big time.
Not ‘blood n snotters’ enough it seems for some.
Give him a break. New country, new team, new experience.

The game ebbed and flowed up until they equalised. After which we completely sh** the bed and were lucky not to lose. Our game management was atrocious in terms of understanding our position and seeing the game out. If we get to the champions league next season we will get found out big time if there isn’t massive improvements.

We are running out of fuel right now but have done enough
The amazing thing for me is that since the Livi away defeat i have never said ‘we were pish’. That is monumental 😎

RH = Next year’s MF is built around him.
The trick is find a couple of players that can do the running / chasing / tackling.
And provide him with the space he needs to make the pass.
We don’t have a DM worthy of the name and it shows.
RH looks emotionally and physically drained at the moment.
MO’R is another who can only last 45 minutes — the intensity / expectation is too much.

reo taking a lot stick today but so should a few others , plays when got space and nobody closing him down and looks class but when he is pressed and hassled when he has the ball he is weak/poor doesn’t seem to cope or able to handled it .

We had one shot on goal today – one.
Old firm fc won a derby last season with zero shots on goal (Calmac deflection won it).
The worm has turned and we’ll get better next year.
I also struggle with Ange’s insistence to play Hatate but I think he’ll come good again after the summer break.

I think its easy to overlook how much running is involved in playing in Ange’s midfield. A midfield 3 against a 4 is always going to look overrun.
A screen, or an out and out defensive mid is anathema to Ange’s system, its a position that is redundant for 95% of our games in his Celtic team. It wouldn’t have helped with the two main problems today which were, breaking their high press and finishing guilt-edged chances.
Hatate was at fault today not because he didn’t go thundering into tackles or close people down enough, it was because he wasn’t able to keep hold of the ball under pressure.
They were dangerous in the second half because we kept on giving them the ball. Keeping the ball and playing in the opposition half is always paramount for this Celtic team.
Play how Ange wants us to play, do what we do, only better, not to negate a Hun team who can’t beat us in 90 minutes anyway.
No negative defensive mids, more players better at how Ange wants us to play. I think we’ll see improvements in all our midfielders next season as well, I can’t see how guys who’ve been here since January, some without a break for over a year won’t get better. Young guys getting used to scottish football, some a new culture.

I think our whole team is a bit naive and Callum & co will learn from our last 2 derby defeats … oops I mean draws … we had chances to wrap the game up in first half we didn’t take them … delighted with not getting beat … for the statisticians out there Ange unbeaten in the league since September GVB has dropped some amount of SPL points since the turn of the year

That may be true of SPFL fixtures but, when we lost 7:2 on age to Leverkusen and 5:1 to Boddo/Glimt and shipping 6 goals to Betis. the defence could benefit from some screening- where can we practice that except in SPFL?

We played like a team who were desperate not to lose, understandably. Not much fluency.
Hatate shouldn’t have been on the pitch. He’s burst and getting targeted.
Having said all that , that was a game they had to win and couldn’t.
I’d have taken a draw before the game.
Nothing won in the league yet and while today feels like a bit of a disappointment , looked at objectively it’s a massive step towards a league that looked so beyond us last and the start of this one.

We host the first of these next season, what’s the betting they want 7k

I don’t agree, and never have, in the concept of a defensive or offensive midfielder.
The whole point of the position is that you can adapt
The idea of separation of roles leaves you with Lennons/browns and Juninho/johannsens
Not being able to pass or shoot isn’t acceptable in the former and not tracking back or tackling isn’t acceptable in the latter
Rogic, McGregor and Bitton have improved under Ange (and the existing coaches). McGregors tackle near the end was my highlight of the day.
