    I’ve worked over the years with Fans of various Scottish teams.

     

     

    Maybe they were being polite , and no doubt some saw us and them as two cheeks of the same ar** but there are many people imho who see them for what they are.

    Identifying positions that need strengthened is always easier after a bad season. It feels a bit cruel to be pointing out that certain guys who have busted a gut this season aren’t at the level we need to move things on. However, this game has no room for sentiment on the park (there’s plenty room for that in the stands!)

     

     

    For me, left back is a must in terms of someone more technically gifted than Greg Taylor. We should keep Greg, but I’d like an upgrade.

     

     

    A defensive midfielder who is actually a defensive midfielder is also a must.

     

     

    And basically, wherever we have an opportunity to get a better player in any position we should take it.

     

     

    There are a few new guys that need time to really settle. After a blistering start Hatate is a player I hope will benefit from a rest and another few months settling in. It is funny to see Maeda begin to really thrive after a much slower start. His overall play for the goal was excellent.

     

     

    Ideguchi is yet to get his chance and Julien may or may not get back to playing for us. If he doesn’t we need at least one CB. Unpopular as this may be we maybe need a better ball playing CB too.

     

     

    Good Times ahead.

    Like Scotland, the Cypriot Football league has a 6-6 split. Neil Lennon’s Omonia Nicosia are in the bottom 6, won 0-2 away today to go top of that group, and are safe from the threat of relegation.

    Neil’s team also won 2-0 away from home in the first leg of the semi final of the Cypriot cup during the week

     

     

    Always like to see ex-Celts doing well so hopefully a wee cup final for Neil to look forward too

    Both in the semi-final and today our opponents substitutions had more of and a better impact than ours. Grist to the mill for the Hataters I know. The midfield of Rogic Bitton and McGregor was overpowered and as a result Taylor, Ralston and on occasion Starfelt over run. I’m still not convinced with Callum as Captain, tidy player, with plenty of ability but does not seem to be able to fully galvanise the team when we are on the back foot. Not to say he plays badly, far from it, but being Captain of Celtic requires more than that. More than this. Too many underestimated our rivals under GVB, he’s a quick learner, has realised what works in Scotland, and what his players can get away with. The league is not won yet, Hearts wont arrive bearing gifts at the weekend, the question is beyond ability now, it is about character. And making your own history.

    Three Rangers league games since February. Three months that defined the outcome of the season. Seven points to us, one to them…..there’s our six-point lead.

     

     

    The fourth game, the SC semi-final was lost from a winning position – the league won’t be.

     

     

    This title is much more important for the club than the 10iar one sadly lost last season. To win the league during a massive rebuild is almost unheard of – it took Gerrard three years – Ange does it in one. The ‘penny will drop'(hopefully) for everyone tomorrow morning.

    The broadcaster referred to by some as Sly Sports’ facilitation of Old Firm FC blanking the SPFL’s main sponsor is simply disgraceful corporate behaviour.

    Am glad Celtic didn’t allow Old Firm FC to faff around with tape.

     

     

    I wonder what Sly Sports reaction would be if there was advertising at every stadium saying

     

     

    “Buy a car from Cinch and drive to the match instead of subscribing to satellite TV”

    Just back from a friends wedding reception, congratulations to Erin and Connor.

     

     

    I was nominated driver this evening, so I may indulge in a rather large Orcadian single malt shortly, off tomorrow.

     

     

    For me, I’m happy to take today’s result. IMHO, that was Old Firm FC last chance.

     

     

    Well done Ange and team, looking forward to next weekend.

    To say that GVB has sussed us,does not hold water.In the 3 league games we have won 2 drawn 1.Close apart from the 1st half mauling,even the Cup game was close.Ange will see what he requires,and hopefully strengthen.One Window was never going to fix everything.

     

    Remarkable job,and well deserved MOTY.
