An excellent performance tonight. Won’t go OTT about it but hopefully the effort and commitment from the players will be carried on for Sunday.
Only downside was the attendance. After all the positive spin and excuses for the Udinese game, tonight’s attendance was quite frankly crap. Those who never bothered missed a good game. A bit more effort when Madrid come to town, please.
That fella has reserved a space in my stumbling ticker.
Hope he stays for the long-term. A crucial part of the team. His presence seems to be enough. A brick wall against attacks. He should forthwith be known as “Brick 67” :)

Ghuys , serious question.
How much do you reckon that SPL referees’ effect our players attitude ?
–
our players risk serious injury in every game due to refs in spl
they cannot put a foot in most games or risk sending off
and
fear for their future career every time they are on the ball..and sometimes only in the vicinity of the ball

Saltires – Superb response mate.
For me on nights like tonight, with a decent standard of ref,
Focus on the referees bhoys, they are the only problem we have….keep focusing bhoys, don’t take your eyes of them, all the rest is bullcrap, the cheating huns in black with the whistles and flags are our problem.
Confidence. That’s what we got tonight, the manager and the team (and us).
No big changes on sunday please, Joe-aye, Ki-naw, dirty game and I expect our defence will be targeted for speshul treatment from alistairs wee mate.
spot on……………..not forgettin the ref

Funny that Celtic Madrid game in 1980 was the only time that these so called experts McLeod and Provan played in europe after xmas !
Funny that Burley hardly survived in europe beyond September……..experts who never cease to amaze me with their ability to knock teams who achieved much more than them in their time in europe eg Strachan teams ……bitter huns IMO

Big Dan seemed to revel in his mentoring role with wee Frazer in the second half. Celtic chased every ball tonight. The players played for Lenny and each other tonight, well done to all involved. Lennys still the man for me.

looks like we got about 140k euros as a wee bonus tonight, thanks very much (ka-ching!)
Europa League financials….
for LAST season….
(dunno about this season, maybe few bob more)
Each team taking part this term will collect a €640,000 participation bonus together with a match bonus of €60,000 for every match played in the group stage. They can add to this total minimum amount of €1m through a series of performance-related rewards, starting with €140,000 per win and €70,000 per draw in their group games.
By way of example, if a side wins all six of their group fixtures they will earn a total of €1.84m from the competition by Christmas.
Progress beyond that point will trigger further bonus payments worth: €200,000 for reaching the round of 32, €300,000 for the round of 16, €400,000 for the quarter-finals and €700,000 for the semi-finals.
The prize money for the clubs that go all the way to the final will be €3m for the eventual winner and €2m for the runner-up at the Dublin Arena on 18 May 2011.

Coming more into the game but Real Madrid look to have just a bit more class.
Need a good second half, McCluskey should be hooked.
