  1. Well done tonight Celtic. Hope we can drive on from here. Just watched Celtic v Real Madrid on ESPN classic from 1980. Couldnt help but notice the massive advertising boards behind the goals saying Murray Internation Metals!

  2. Just in from the game and, my god, that performance made me really proud. For the first 30 mins we were taken to the cleaners but we clawed and clawed our way back into that game tonight. For the first time in a wee while Ive got a wee glow again when I think of that club that I love.

Sure, we have a long way to go but lets not talk about winning 25/26 games in a row, lets make it 2 wins in a row first

    Wanyama looks the real deal

    Lets sort out Motherwell

    I love you Celtic

Sadly, there wasn’t much of me around when he was playing. His story was however included in the first video I saw about Celtic when I was about 9 or 10 that got me hooked on the hoops.

Aye, Gollum was 5 yards away and had a perfect view of Fallon’s challenge, got it totally wrong, a complete and utter incompetent of a man.

A few more like that Willie and you are on the slippery slope down, and Hugh is not there to protect you any more.

    Enjoy it.

I haven’t been posting much as it’s become depressing on here.

    Reality? Maybe.

    But enjoy it.

Every man showed his worth tonight and we can only hope it continues.

If that performance doesn’t ignite our season, nothing will.

p.s. Burley is an utter disgrace.

  8. I will keep saying it till the coos come home, the referees are the problem, we proved that tonight.

Sort the cheating huns with whistles and flags and we wil win, end of, waken up bhoys.

  9. Just back from game, Victor Wayama MOTM, the glue that hold the team together, and if Marcus Fraser is a taster of what we have coming through the ranks then hurry up and get rid of the deadwood and lets see more of the youth.

  10. Mort,

I’m the same. I was 3 when that game was played but still cheered tonight (with an irate dog barking in the kitchen at every shout) at every goal.

Riding the wave of hoopiness tonight :-)

Did you see my Georgie tonight bhoys? All he needs is some encouragement and a bit of confidence. What a fantastic atmosphere, congratulations to the entire Celtic support in particular the Green Brigade. Well done Mr Lennon, I hope tonight eases the pressure on you. What a contrast to Saturday, I took my Thai sister in law to her first Celtic match and they played like that, she still loved the atmosphere but was a bit scared at the shouting around her until she heard me shout “you fat lazy bar steward, run”. I think it did 88 some good to be dropped tonight, wasn’t he eager to score when he came on, he even ran and took his goal that my Georgie laid on a plate for him very well. Also good to see Kris Commons back though he could lose 20 lbs. All in all a very enjoyable evening, however I will be making a complaint to Celtic Park tomorrow about the conduct of one of the Supervisors in the Losbon Lions stand. She was making a lot of teenage boys who were doing no harm go back to their own seats when there were a number of empty seats further down the stand. Fortunately the boys simply moved but her manner was very provocative and she could have caused trouble out of nothing. It was I think very telling that she targeted young boys and not the more mature fan such as myself. Anyway I’m always to bed now. Night, night bhoys sleep well.

  16. Rogne in for Loovens, Mulgrew in for Dan and Ledley in for McCourt. Stokes up top on his own, Samaras on the left and Wanyama and Kayal kicking many shades out of you know what Jennings and Lasley.

This weekend will see the season turn. Dundee United will take at least a point at Poundland and we will, with a repeat of tonight’s attitude, beat Motherwell comfortably.

  17. Great to hear the blog praising Sammi. So glad for Neil Lennon tonight.

The Paddy McCourt steamroller continues with 10 starts, 1 draw and 9 wins under Lennon.

    More of an impact player?

To all those criticising him for his lack of match fitness, please bear in mind that was his first start this year when he’s coming back from injury.

  20. Celtics first class attitude got them the result tonight.

Kayal was back to what we have come to expectr, although he does play to the crowd a bit too much for my liking.

We have a real prospect with Wanyama, raw but all the ingredients are there.

but special mention to Sammi, 2 assists, work his socks off all night,.If ever a guy deserves a break its Georgie Bhoy.

  21. there was a little thunder about that performance tonight.

the pros tonight for me were

firstly in my opinion i am glad to see Ki out the side because there’s a physicality in the center we have been missing.

I thought stokes was magnificent tonight showing his counter part Hooper how a Celtic center-forward should graft for the team.

also taking his second goal perfectly.

Commons looked a bit lighter on his toes :O)

big vic balanced the side with Kayal well allowing Sammy and forest to break with more safety.

    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

    CONS

defending ANY and i mean Every set play. utterly utterly shocking. there is a lack of responsibility in our zonal marking that is deeply concerning .

we put ourselves under pressure by not forcing players to taking responsibility. i hear all about the positive statistics of zonal marking, but would love to see how unearth they apply to our team.

    ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

I will end on a another pro

TEAM LOOKED UP FOR IT IN GENERAL :O)

Was he centre half? When he came on i thought he was a bid short and slight for a centre half and wondered if he was a midfielder.

Listened to Lenny press con on way home and he said he asked Stevie Frail at half time who he think would handle it better, Marcus or Joe Chalmers

  23. Feeling great, just watched Celtic’s second victory this evening on ESPN 2-0 v Real Madrid – and I was there. What a night it has been. We gave ourselves little chance in this group and nobody in Scotland gave us any chance at all and now we have something to play for. I hve to say that beating Athletico 2-0 will be a tall order!

However, I think I am right in saying that Celtic’s win tonight was the first victory in Europe by a Scottish team this season. Where was the excitement in the voice of (former player) Craig Burley? Where was his GOOOOOAAAAALLL! moment on this momentous occasion? Conspicuous by its absence it has to be said. What a poor spirited little country we live in.

Re my earlier comment regarding my former pupil Marcus Fraser – I’m very proud that Marcus was a pupil at my school nut I cannot claim to have added anything whatsoever to his football ability – that was all done by other people. Tommy Boyd , however, is a different case. I coached him for four years at Primary school. I still maintain that Tommy – captain of the team that stopped their 10 in-a-row is a Celtic Great.

    ” …and I’m feelin’ good”

Congratulations to everyone involved in tonight’s effort. Well done to Kris Commons whosw bit of levity yesterday with the bandages may have been the antidote to all of the negative, nudge, nudge, whispa, say no more stories circulating about the Celtic squad and management team. Let’s kick on from here guys and make yourselves legends (or should I say legneds) in the eyes of the Celtic support.

  26. Lubo's two feet on

    What a performance.

If there is anyone in the team who deserves credit, it is sammi. From the off there was a guy few rows behind me in 103 who in the first 20 minutes shouted dogs abuse at him whenever the ball was near him. Sammi worked his socks off tonight as he should every game. You could see he was shattered and if it wasn’t for forrest getting a knock I think it was him going off. Setting up two goals tonight, brilliant and it shut up the guy behind me anyway!

Forster – Comfortable throughout the whole game apart from a sliced kick but that was about it

Cha – Did his work efficiently, nothing spectacular but solid.

Matthews – The boy is definitely a player, has confidence and always keeps it on the deck. Loved his dribble into our own 18 yard box then 6 yard box just to roll it to the keeper when he could of passed it from about the half way line!

Maj – Second half he did not take two touches of the ball when it came to him, he got rid of it and was solid. Talked fraser through the game. Want to see more of that second half from him

Marcus Fraser – When he first came on he made a great interception and that got his confidence up and went from strength to strength, great debut.

Forrest – Great pace, had the full back on his heels the whole game

Stokes – Struggled to hold the ball up first half but worked through the whole game and two great finishes

Victor and Kayal did their jobs of break up attacks, countless times they won the ball, would like to see them pass a bit better, some sloppy passes at times.

Commons – Best substitution yet, he came on and blocked their free kick with his huge back side, knew it would be useful for something ! Seemed to win every change and interception he went for, old commons I hope is back

Team showed heart today after a poor start. Everyone of them worked for each other.

I would know Charlie through his wife, my Mrs and his were freinds many’s a year ago, they still talk on ocassion, and I agree that he has done the dirty on us, but he gets well paid fir it, he is worse than Murdo imo, murdo is what he is, and that’s a hun, I honestly don’t have a problem with that, he did his best when he was with us as a player and a coach, for that I give him my total respect, unfortunatly he has fallen by the wayside, but he was never on the right side.

    Anyways, bed time

  30. A truly spirited performance by the buoys tonight. Well done everyone. Georgious Samaras, take a bow son. Won nearly every ball in the air. See what happens when someone gambles on him winning flick on? Stokes’ second goal! More of the same on Sunday buoys!

  31. I enjoyed that. Wanyama made a few mistakes but he will be some player. I think Lenny will be happy with that.

  32. Superb tonight! Excellent attitude all round, from fans to players.

Probably a better chance of kick starting the greek economy. He had a great game tonight and as many have said worked his socks off. But we all know what is just around the corner. Keep him in the team for Sunday and roll with it until the inevitable dip happens. Its just the way he is.
