  1. We will play only our 11th post Christmas European tie since 1980 and the usual suspects are moaning. We have a new manager making do with what was left by his predecessor, we are top of the league, still in with a treble chance. We matched a team tonight which cost £60m to assemble.

Some on here don’t realise when they’re well off.

As TD says to any lurking huns, GIRFUY.

  2. Jist back in and about to watch the recording to see if my thoughts on tonight stand up to a second scrutiny. Having read back briefly all I can say is……… There’s some stench of hunnery on here tonight! So girfuy ya lurkin, skint, deid, cheatin’, ugly, covetous, shameless, embarrassing, delusional, obnoxious, scummy, flute-blawin’ jakeys.

  3. Delighted to be in the next round, although would have liked a better result tonight,

but its 6 games that count not just the one tonight,

  4. Not long back from game. Mixed emotions. Pleased we are through, but can’t help reaching the conclusion we are pretty rubbish.

More concerning is the question: does Ronny know what he is doing with this team? I’m not sure he does. They were faster, fitter, more organised, smarter, cuter, more positive, confident, and composed than us in every position.

    In every position.

It’s got to the stage now that we need several really big signings in January if we are to avoid a catastrophic decline in standards.

Are PL and RD up to the task?

  5. Phil hoy being beaten 3 1 at ho,e to a team with less money than us isn’t inspiring. A blind man could see how poor and disjointed we are.

My favourite was the following from you

Good that even in such relatively successful times Celtic still allow you scope to vent your anger.

Celtic LET me vent my anger?? Should I be grateful for free speech? You are such a silly bhoy burnley. Stop doffing that cap.

    Grateful!!!!!!!

    Hilarious.

  6. The side needs experienced professionals to listen to Rnnt and translate to the rest of he squad. Shaun Maloney would immediately be 1 improvement. There must be a holding midfielder in his later years who could step in for a year and a half till we find or grow a full time replacement. A goalscorer can be found in Hilland, Croatia etc . That’s where every other bloody club finds them.

Awe Naw was wondering why you were writing in the third person tonight, He was scrolling back there to find out what he was missing. He wants to know if you are dyeing your lovely locks also

  8. SFTB…i agree on that…i live in Dennistoun…saw many Scotland supporters drunk p****** in Duke street …not a copper in sight…all wrong….

  9. Just in…

A fairly shambolic first 20 minutes, partly relieved by a spirited and effective first 20 of the second.

Losing two such soft goals so early changed the dynamic of the game and Salzburg were freed to express themselves and they did. As a forward moving interplaying side they were good, really good but getting past their forward moving midfield showed up where their limitations were.

Equally we were shell shocked by the start and to me the system RD starts with is not one well equipped to deal with such a set back. Only when we went 4 4 2 in second half did we threaten regularly and give them something to worry about.

I’m probably too old fashioned or lacking in football nouse to understand one up front playing at home when the poorest part of your opponents is defence.

Somehow we’ve qualified and on this very strange European journey I’ll take it. An unusual back 4 was always going to be a strain and although I haven’t read back I did notice efe described as a bomb scare. I have to say on this occasion he was in far more control than either AM or VVD!

Finally congrats to Izzy you have been a joy for weeks now and your crossing has been great too. Welcome back.

PS… Re the free kick “goal” a big heads up to the young guy three rows in front of me screaming at CG and any other Celtic player not to touch the ball. Seemed to me only he and the ref knew it was indirect. Great call young man!

PPS…Tonev…did we see a classy player briefly?

PPPS…RD…tick tock, tick tock… You have my support but you need to get things consistent, organised and on the front foot. Otherwise…. Good Luck.

    Poor wretched Celtic

    Team building or team destruction

IMO the latter ..we’re hopeless …we competed after gifting them a two goal start

Not sure it’s Deila’s fault …the current shower of incompetents would challenge any manager

a bakers dozen of European games after xmas and we should be shouting from the rooftops

    Really ??????

A team that is guaranteed European qualification every year ?

Is in the top 50 commercially EVERY year ? within Europe that is

Dodging graft to watch the hoops in Paradise in Europe is a no brainer. :))

Turk ref was a cheat. We were lucky again though. You know I think Ronny is The Man! Maybe Lucky Man??

  14. Pleased to still be in Europe beyond Christmas. My concerns lie with our manager. He will not deviate from his favoured formation despite obvious weak links in his chosen first eleven being able to. operate sufficiently.

If he is given time he also needs financial backing.

Horses for courses springs to mind.

In Europe being lightweight and technically

average as a team is obvious.

    Improvement in all departments required.

  15. Back from the game and apart from the first 25 and last minute I enjoyed the game. Thought we played well, made them chase shadows as much as we did at times. Last third was where struggled but with a bit more luck/composure we could have been on level terms. Guiddeti will make a difference and hopefully Sceptovic will come on to a game.

Philbhoy…..delighted to be in the next round so I am, but

we are watching a mediocre Celtic side…..anyone who

    thinks otherwise is deluded IMHO.

  17. Neganon

Now lay back on the couch and try to remember when following celtic actually made you happy ?..

    Ha ha.

We are in Europe post Xmas for the 6th time in 34 years. I know it pains you but it makes me feel good.

  18. the glorious balance sheet on

Hope Denayer is fit for tynecastle. If not, I’d like us to go with mulgrew at centre half and a more solid option than mcgregor to protect Matthews.

We need to stop giving away so many chances as that leads to the loss of goals and added pressure on the strikers. No need for us to be so open.

  19. Burnley your repeatedly miss the point. We should be so much better. I am pleased we are still there but on true merit.

  20. Nye bevan

I have enjoyed watching many mediocre celtic sides trying their best and succeeding.

Like the 4 2 Team. Or winning the double in Kenny’s last year and I enjoyed it plenty my friend.

  21. We need Neil Lennon – the player.

Someone who can protect the back four and calm things down a bit. The amount of times they just went straight through the middle f the park was incredible.

Positives? Griffiths, great effort. Johansen and Brown occasionally. Izzy, occasionally. Efe was our best defender.

Virgil? You’ll not get a big money move to Arsenal playing like that…

  22. nye bevans’ rebel soldier

Yeah. We’re mediocre. We’ve qualified with a game to spare. Some mediocre!!

  23. Felt we got shown up early in the match. Basic stuff: ball watching, failing to react and not tracking runners (Adam Matthews).

Somehow, by whatever means we managed to turn the game after about 30 minutes. Would it be unkind to suggest we dragged them down to our level through physical play ?

Ronny is worrying me now. Griffiths started after how many weeks absence ? Surely the Serb with his height was needed ?

The young lad McGregor is being crucified and needs a break to rebuild his confidence.

Brown and Mulgrew had a grip of the game for a period in the second half, only for Commons to be introduced.

  24. Exiled who are those bloggers you speak off?

  26. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

I couldn’t make tonight’s game nor see it.

From what I have read, we deserved a draw at least but our old problem of losing goals early an/or late in European games resurfaced.

On another point. some have posted the ref tonight was not the best. It may be a coincidence but since Shug fae Bonkle got some influence at Uefa, the refs we have got in European games seem to be inconsistent in their application of the rules in our games. Maybe I’m being paranoid about my paranoia.

Refs aside, the board must now realise the higher profile we have had in Europe over the last years has now diminished somewhat. We are, in my opinion, paying the price for downsizing.

Sleep well all and thanks to all our fans, especially those who travelled great distance to see our team tonight.
