Manager repeatedly claims he knows what he wants.
Pity he doesn’t have a clue about how to achieve it or what we want.
Really wish he would retreat to his dreamworld – by himself!
Has he ever evaluated the players available? Doesn’t seem like it, but it’s all he has to work with.
Celtic playing at home, both in SPL and Europe – one man up front. Seems like a great recipe for winning, attacking, football, well, for him.
Lots of admiration for Salzburg before the game, so what does he do?
In with Callum MacGregor with Kris Commons and James Forrest on the bench.
Out with playing intelligence and pace in favour of one of his favourites who is out of form, but he runs about a lot and his soundbites sing the mantra.
We are into the next stage thanks one poor team beating another poor team, despite our incompetent manager.
We should walk the SPL this season and we probably shall, but it won’t be thanks to, more despite our manager.
Team selection, line up, tactics, when to make changes?
Compare NL with RD – the difference is blatantly obvious.
Still, I’ve only been watching Celtic for 60 years, so what do I know?
So we are now happy to be beaten by Super Dooper Saltberg at Parkhead. How far has the mighty fallen.

Once again Celtic lose goals in the first and last 10 mins of a European game…its become a habit now for the last 10 years.
RD is a serious concern. Ever since McGregor’s hopeless swipe at the ball in the first minute away to Dundee he has been absolutely bowf yet the manager continues to select him. Surely, surely John Collins or any of the other coaches must see that too. ..what game is RD watching exactly?
Soz on
Genuine question to the true Celtic fans who post here. We are in a footballing backwater with revenue streams that are laughable compared to the major leagues we compete against (and league’s that have huge amounts of money pumped into them: see Saltzberg). What is your solution to counter this? What is your answer?
Do we pump money into a side that is going to easily win the league and has more than a very good chance in the cups? A team that is guaranteed European football in the new year, maybe not in the top tourney but by Christ, look at the CL, what do you spend to be successful there?
We have been spoilt by a decade at the top table but to maintain that, what cost? We have a new manager who is trying to make wholesale changes to the way we play the game, it was always going to take time but here we are in 4 cups, what would make you happy?
The UK as a whole, for reasons which are beyond me don’t rate the Europe league, but why do you think that we automatically deserve to dine at a table which has long been reserved for the super rich?
Would the naysayers have us blindly spend our way into oblivion? Football runs in eddy’s and currents, we are surviving, have an unbroken history and have a future when our biggest rivals are no more.
What do you actually want??

Ronny Deila’s high pressing game worked right from the kick off, unfortunately it was Salzburg who were, playing it, with a better squad.
Celtic started so badly it could on really get better, after Salzburg threatened to run riot going two up inside 15 minutes. We gained strength from Johanssen’s surprise, goal and then matched them for a long periods, and had we a better class of striker (Guidetti) on the pitch, we could have snatched a draw.
Salzburg were a class act, but Celtic’s redevelopment continues after Christmas due to the eight points already gained. We are puny, in every department for European level and both full backs and centre backs, were stretched and dollied all night. Brown and Mulgrew toiled in the middle
Izzaguire was superb going forward, and Matthews is closer to fitness, but both are too frequently weak or missing defensively. The choice of McGregor over Forrest could surely only be due to match fitness, as McGregor failed again, to find his early season spark.
Stokes and Griffiths put in shifts but it’s never enough against better opposition.
Celtic were almost inevitably caught on the break, whilst pressing for the equaliser to put a dreary look to the scoreline, that some will argue was deserved.

no doubt there will be the Ronny Must Go crew.
I’m no fan. VERY unconvinced.
But we’re CRAP!!!!
We’ve gone from being outclassed by Barca to being outclassed by Salzburg in 24 months.
That’s not Ronny’s fault.
Blame that on the absentee landlord and the guy who is more interested in maintaining the performance of his heated monoblocked drive than maintaining the performance of our first team squad. And it shows!
We;’re through. But only because Astra were no mugs after all. We’d never have won in Croatia if we HAD to. And now we don’t.
Does anyone seriously think we’ll beat any half decent team in the next round?
Jose M couldn’t do anything with that squad.
“To be fair Desmond, you’ve sold all my best players and brought in shite!” NFL
I can ignore the Big Rock Candy Mountain delusionists who still want to fight the referendum rather than talk fitba .
We were blown away in a disastrous opening 15 minutes by a technically superior attacking side. We clawed our way back in, whether by effort or by Salzburg thinking they had won the game, we’ll never know. The third goal was unimportant but we nearly got a draw in that 2nd half.
There are signs of improvement but they are very gradual and very slow. With the quality of teams we have to face next in Europe, we will probably not be good enough quickly enough.
But after the 80s and 90s desert of European football, I will take the post-Xmas chance to pit our wits against some other better sides.
Oh! and thanks very much, Astra.

Celtic much better second half and deserved at least a draw. Big improvement with Forrest, Commons and Tonev looks a player and great to have European footy in the New Year. I expected Zagreb to fail in Romania. Now we can have Guidetti for the knockout stage. Disappointed with the result but great to be through with a game still to play. The scoreline flattered Salzburg.

the first half tactics of hitting long diagonal balls up to makeshift striker Stefan Johansen were very primitive. Akin to watching Watford or Wimbledon in the 1980s.
That Johansen was being used in that manner also shows how much scepovic is rated and trusted by ronny. Another waste of scarce funds and he will be used as the justification for us signing more players on loan rather than purchase next simmer
