Celtic will win despite the First Minister

303

Let’s be clear on the rules, football has been granted special status and operate within different Covid guidelines to the rest of us.  This is why players could travel to and from the UK for international duty this month without having to isolate.   Players were permitted into Scotland this week who in the last two weeks have been to countries where they would normally have to isolate on landing here.

Nicola Sturgeon made a personal intervention into Celtic’s season when Boli Bolingoli broke isolation rules.  Celtic were not allowed to play for two weeks after this event.  I was so angry at Bolingoli I did not complain.  Rules were changed on the hoof to punish Celtic but there was culpability, so fair enough.

Ryan Christie is healthy.  He has been told to isolate at the whim of the same First Minister.  Kieran Tierney, who is also healthy, is also subject to political whim.  But not by a government that has kettled Arsenal fans in the manner this government kettled Celtic fans.

I grew out of political fantasies years ago.  Politicians are not your friend, they are not even good friends to those they share a rosette with.  My colours are green and white only, and we will win tomorrow despite the whim of the First Minister.

  1. Gooooood Morning ( ok early afternoon to you all) from the Antiguan Celtic Supporters club

Noticed a few good Bhoys around the pools 👍

  2. Any word on whether Edouard made it back for training?

Also what time is Ajeti’s fitness test?

  3. ” My colours are green and white only ‘”

Love it Paul, wait for incoming,

  4. JVR.

    Loved your post last night.

What a lovely family, you all are.

    Keep smiling, my friend.

  5. Keep them guessing today Celtic. Let’s turn this uncertainty into an advantage.

    Eddie back?

    Ryan returns?

    Ajeti fit?

    Griff starts?

    Laxalt debuts?

    Formation variety.

As opposed to them now who will be pretty full strength, predictably pressing and another focal point on the fat Colombian.

    Whatever you say, say nothing.

  6. What a depressing article. It makes grand inferences that the players of Celtic are being treated differently and that the First Minister is taking a personal interest in damaging Celtic. I grew up in the 50s when we believed with good evidence that the establishment in Scotland was anti Catholic/Celtic. I see no evidence of that now. Politicians and police don’t always get things right and I’m fairly sure that at the lowest level there are many who would abuse their power but it is nonsense to suggest that the FM and the government are actively using the pandemic to attack Celtic.

  7. Caught me out there Paul😉

    Where needs must – Toronto……..

    Old Firm…out back!

Stage Two COVID 19 restrictions means the Committee needs to “play within the rules” in order to keep the Club open!

This means the TOCSC Patio will be OPEN on Saturday morning for the Old Firm match!!!

That’s right!!! We are going to show the Celtic v Sevco game out back for those who wish to attend!!!

So break out the toque, scarf and yer wooly jacket!!!

    Powerful stuff Paul

(I’ve used your real name to show how serious I am 🙂).

Am struck by the similarities of our political positioning.

Respectfully – to the CQNers who post political comments …..

I admire your convictions – genuinely and sincerely.

Puts my level of conviction, if not to shame, then certainly in perspective.

Personally I consider four criteria before endorsing anyone at an election.

    In priority order …..

    – calibre of party leader

    – calibre of candidate

    – direction of travel of party

    – colour of rosette

    Hail hail

i think it’s what is known as unwitting testimony.

  13. B2K…

So YOU see NO evidence since the 1950’s that The Establishment are Anti Catholic and/or Anti Celtic ?

    Are you ” aving a laff” ?

Chump of the highest order methinks.

Nicola has long since positioned herself as mother of the nation. Been on that road since she was the president of the SRC at Glasgow Uni, year above me.

The absence of any remotely credible opposition encourages her belief that we work for her rather than the reverse. At least in my professional dealings with her there is evidence of a compassionate human being. Jeane Freeman can’t be accused of the same. Now there is someone who’s consumed by their own power of writ. Thick and ruthless into the bargain.

Hope we come good tomorrow. A real signature match.

    B2K.

I don’t believe for one second Nicola is anti-Celtic. For one thing she’s not daft. She draws much of her support from Celtic fans.

I do think she has a negative view of football in general. Just my interpretation of her decision-making choices.

  16. Paul 67,

” Let’s be clear on the rules.”

Now who on earth keeps reittering that phrase. 😁

I sense the frustration in your articles. I share them. Can you share any of the thought process that our custodians have. ?

Well publicised moves are afoot down south. What is the reaction here.?

Given we are hemoraging circa £4 m per month, under the current circumstances how long can we continue without substantial downsizing?

Anyway to the present, we perform better in adversity. We will prevail.

Isolation is a punishment for homo sapiens; I wonder how many tradesmen / women will be summoned for urgent repairs @ 12.30 tomorrow?

Yir a bad influence! You must be on a retainer for promoting the red biddy..:) On a yellow tail shiraz from Dan’s, lovely stuff.

Feeling quite confident about tomorrow, got a hunch Griff might make the difference at the top end with Broony pulling the strings in the middle. That’s how I see it just now, after this bottle I’m sure the confidence levels will increase..:)

To paraphrase Flann O’Brien ‘The conclusion of your syllogism is fallacious, being based upon licensed premises.’

The fact that a proportion of Celtic fans vote SNP (Stockholm syndrome?) vote SNP does not preclude Sturgeon, or any of the rest of them, from having an innate antipathy towards the Club and its supporters’ historical values and heritage.

The custodians won’t be missing out for some reason they attend all the games. Unneeded.

I also expect some fans of the good guys will be in the vicinity tomorrow and a counter group may also turn up.
