Confederated league gathers pace as Belarus bids to join

905

The momentum for a confederated regional league in Eastern Europe continues to gather pace with clubs from Belarus keen to join.  With a population of around 10m, Belarus is sandwiched between Russia, Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states, but their league has been rendered uncompetitive by the domination of Bate Borisov, who are on their way to eight-in-a-row titles.

Bate, who are now Champions League regulars, have no opportunity to progress while the rest of the league do not have the resources to compete with them.  A regional league would solve all their problems.

Russian and Ukrainian clubs are aiming to have a confederated league in place by the start of 2014, with sponsors thought to be keen to step forward and underwrite whatever is necessary to smooth the way, but the Ukrainian FA suggest 2016 is a more viable date.

Scottish football stands to gain more from regionalisation than anywhere else on the planet. We need to have this debate before blindly stumbling into another Management of Decline while legislators in Minsk leave us behind!

Today is the last guaranteed posting date for CQN Annuals before Christmas, so if you haven’t ordered yet, this is your chance.

Many thanks for the tremendous support of the Annual in recent weeks.  We have shipped lots to Australia, Canada and USA, across various European and Asian countries, and to hundreds of towns and cities across Scotland, England and Ireland.  Even Ayrshire!

So they have raised £27m and are calling it a success. This despite claiming they would have over £30m by the end of July…..

    Charles Green 10 Jun 2012 –

“No one will be able to say that Charles Green didn’t allow us to buy shares, because anybody can buy shares. By the end of July, we will have £30m-plus in the bank from the share issue.

    He also said this:

“On Thursday all the names will be out there and either it has gone through a CVA or a newco,”

Surprised that Ally didn’t demand to know the names!

Some days I doubt my own sanity. I sometimes wish I had a hard capitalist heart and I could fleece Cruel Brittania like the rest of them.

I am in favour of that – bloody bulldoze it to the ground!

  4. It’s not about football. It’s all about criminals, guising as bidness men on the Russian model (no pun intended or inferred), getting the most out of a corrupt set-up. Why d’ye think the few berrz wi’ some modicum of sense were going radio last night? Even THEY can see this for what it is.

Vulture capitalism with a menacing twist of bigotry and indolent psychosis.

It’s all about money. And running, when the game is up.

    A simple plan.

  5. The SFA decision to condone sevco’s boycott is despicable, but entirely predictable. How a club organised boycott against a fellow club isn’t against the spirit of the competition, therefore bringing the game into disrepute, beats me.

What’s also pretty certain is that there would have been a flurry of phone calls between sevco and the sfa prior to the decision seeking “clarification” on the legals.

United have still to play their hand now they know where they stand WRT the SFA. (As if there was any doubt)

I would love to see united come up with a cunning plan which guarantees them income and shafts sevco, and their co-conspirators, Ogilvie’s SFA.

I’m pretty sure there’s a minimum charge for tickets. £8?

Charge £10 a programme. After overheads there wouldn’t be much left left. Even if there is, just keep it. Let sevco chase it.

Alternatively, hire out Dens park across the road. Stick a big screen in it, then charge £20 a pop to watch it. I’m sure the united fans would cough up if they knew it was a GIRUY to sevco/SFA .

Actually he’s probably only being slightly economical with the truth and that £30m figure. They probably have banked over £30m including them money from the original investors. Who are now all sitting on a fat profit, assuming that there shares didn’t cost them 70p each.

Put it this way if the original £5.5M was encompassed in all the shares prior to today’s launch on AIM, those shares are currently worth £25.4M. Good business.

  8. New inquest for the victims of Hillsborough. Another whitewash in the offing once the guilty establishment closes ranks. Endless pain for the families of the dead.

Pat Finucane: total whitewash and quickly forgotten by the powers that be and the compliant msm.

All the other filth dropped under the floorboards. Window dressing and insipid redress.

A corrupt pyramidal class system overseen by a genetically twisted royal family.

This queen is no charming, regal epitome of feminism. Her face is on the money….the only thing that matters.

She’s one nasty little piece of work, married to a nazi, with a compliant gang of flunkies traipsing around after her and feeding from the crumbs at her groaning table.

A female Tyrion Lannister….without the wit.

  9. Just stiff sevco at every opportunity. Let them whistle for it. Rip them off stupid.

They’ll understand. You’d be speaking their language.

You must wonder why sevconians have chosen to boycott their biggest game of the season?

Well lets hope it backfires. Since the sevconians were claiming at the start of the season that they would win the two cups, Im left wondering which two cups that they had in mind, They are already out of the league cup, the much revered harry ramsdens cup and now they chose to boycott the Scottish cup.

  11. Hateley says a flop share issue is just like a successful one. Only with a bit less cash. Everyone in the MSM agrees with him.

  12. Just heard some sad news about Tito Vilanova. He is stepping down from Barca to recover from a recession of his tumor.

    Pray for his speedy recovery.,

It will be interesting to see if UTD can put something together here to ensure sevco get nothing. That being the case I’m more than happy to put money into their coffers and become a one day UTD fan. If sevco are going to make a pound though, I’m afraid my support for UTD will be via the telly only.

Shameful that the SFA have taken the stance they have with green. It appears he can do and say as he pleases and is beyond reproach. I looked at the DR story and the headline there describes this as a “fans” boycott. Greens intervention made this a club boycott and the sfa should have thrown the book at him.

That’s an interesting point re 10 point penalty.

Can anyone confirm the rules around this – is it a 10 point deduction every season that a team is in administration or is it a one-off?

Not read the DR story but heard elsewhere that there are no direct quotes from the SFA. That means its either BS or a leak, but who would be in a position to leak that story? Hmmm

  17. If you believe the MSM, Rangers have gone from £134m of debt to administration to liquidation to ‘winning’ the tax case to record attendances to successful share issue to solvency, in only ten months or so. And, it’s still the same team!

That’s an even more impressive recovery than old Lazarus but, then again, even he died eventually.

Barcelona value Leo Messi at £312m

Barcelona star Leo Messsi would cost up to £312m if The Rangers, Manchester City or Chelsea were interested

Messi signed a new contract earlier this week amid fears from Barca that The Rangers share floatation would tempt the Argentina international to Ibrox Park after when the Scottish Third Division club’s transfer embargo ends in September 2013.

The three-time Ballon d’Or winner agreed a fresh six-year Barcelona contract on Tuesday, worth an estimated £17m per year gross until 2018. That totals a mammoth £102m in wages – which means Tito Vilanova’s side value their best player at £312m, according to The Sun.

He had a tumour successfully removed in November 2011 from a saliva gland (parotid gland). A review this week has uncovered another tumour. The club hasn’t said where.

FC Barcelona have cancelled all official appointments for the day. There is to be a meeting with the players later and the club will make an announcement after that.

There is a very moving account on El Mundo Deportivo of Tito Vilanova’s recollections of what he went through at the time of the tumour in the parotid gland and how he decided he was going to beat it for his children’s sake. He said it was a very good reminder that some things in life matter a lot more than others.
