Cough up for Killie

944

The SFA, SPL and SFL confirmed revelations yesterday that they met at Hampden on Friday evening and released a 126 word joint statement.  It claimed “all three parties have been involved in productive discussions for some time on the subject of league reconstruction”.

Be that as it may, you could put your house on the fact that there would be no talk of hastily-arranged league reconstruction in the next few weeks if there remained a possibility that SPL clubs would vote a Newco into the league at their meeting on 4 July.

Disingenuous: lacking in frankness, candour or sincerity.

There is no mention of subverting every rule in the game to ensure a team called ‘Rangers’ are positioned in as high a league system as possible.  The statement is completely disingenuous.  Having lost the battle to parachute Newco-Rangers into the SPL, Stewart Regan and Neil Doncaster have redrawn the battle lines.

Celtic supporters are the great cash cow that is expected to pay for the crimes of others.  It’s up to you if you want to Cough up for Killie (etc.).

Huns aside do us any of us really care what structure the league has?

Its a dead duck whichever way it operates in.

It will always have the majority of its participants unable to grow far beyond where they are now.

If they try to steal half our money there is no way that will work – there is no way the Celtic board would accept first of all and second of all you can be sure as hell the ingenious, innovative, revolutionary Celtic support who not only dont do walking away but also do stepping forward – would play any part in it.

Within the echelons of Scottish football the glass is half empty at best.

    Lets just get out.

Much of what is driving the SFA/SPL is the belief that the game cannot survive without Sky TV money.

    In view of

    1) Romanov’s comments on SPL TV and Sky,

    2) The way the need to accommodate Sky forces unacceptable integrity decisions on

    a) clubs and

    b) those charged with governing football, therebye bringing it into disrepute

3 BT Vision entering the TV Broadcast market see

    http://www.sportingintelligence.com/2012/06/17/this-bubble-ain%E2%80%99t-bursting-yet-all-the-details-you%E2%80%99d-ever-want-to-know-about-the-premier-league%E2%80%99s-new-tv-deals-170601/

    4) Club Chairmen being more willing to listen to considered views of supporters

    5) Expertise on the technical aspects of IPTV at Celtic TV as well as the strategical experience of the BT CEO Ian Livingston can be drawn on for advice from Celtic for the good of all

has any feaseibility study into SPL TV been conducted for the SPL and have the SPL thought of talking to BT Vision to suggest that any deal that pumps more money into Scottish football than Sky is likely to encourage pay TV customers to move their accounts (that include telephone and other internet services) from Sky/Virgin to BT.

Sky owe Scottish football BIG TIME by damaging integrity and undermining standards by the wages they fund in the EPL and we owe them no loyalty.

They are flying a kite! The struggle now is between the Scottish footballing public, in its widest form, and those currently in charge of the clubs, and in particular those currently in positions of influence at the SPL, the SFL and the SFA. “Based on the McLeish report”, they are having a laugh! Is this the same Henry McLeish who was on Radio 5 a few months back claiming that; “Rangers are too important to fail!” Too important! That man is a busted flush, no credibility at all. Even so the fact that they released a statement opens up the proposals for examination. A single organisation, fair enough, who is voluntarily giving up their job? Any takers?

“Pyramid system with the potential for relegation from and promotion to the fourth tier?” That should allow the NewCo the opportunity to earn promotion to the fourth tier. To it! That’s the thing about “Pyramid systems”, they start at the bottom! All things considered I will be at Celtic Park next week. No to Newco!

The point is this. They are gauging their SFA/SPL/SFL careers on a 3 year projection. With Sevco choppers in SFL Div3 it could be 3,4,5 years before the New Firm money is available. With SPL2 1 or 2 max.

Murray and Whyte cannot, and should not, ever be forgiven for what they did to our club!

In our hearts, regardless of what happens, we will always be Rangers. Even if our club is reduced to having to play on the streets, then we will follow on from the pavements.

I think that’s his point. He could end up with, 6 months down the line, another 75% wage cut, if Green turned out to be another Whyte or if Greens investors turned their back on the club if/when we drop down a league or three.

Now, I’m not defending them because the way they’ve gone about this doesn’t sit well with me at all, nor do I believe that in all honesty this is the full reason for his departure, but I can at least understand that point.

I would not trust the blazers at SFA/SPL to be able to count their gooleys and get the same number twice.

Bearing that in mind, the possibility of them managing to coordinate a complete restructuring of the Scottish League set-up in any sort of timeframe that may benefit Dodo FC, is negligible.

Leaving aside the obvious necessity of having to garner the opinions of all member clubs, such a major development would obviously impact the very SKY deals that they get all moist about, and a lot of hard bargaining would be required to bottom that out.

The more time they spend mulling over such a radical change in direction, the less time they will be able to spend attempting to breath life into the rancid corpse that Green currently has secreted inside his overstuffed skeleton cupboard.

I am starting to believe that the likelihood of them fielding any sort of team next season is rapidly diminishing, and without that happening the chances of them ever re-emerging from the swamp they are currently sinking into are also starting to fade.
