Creating a beleaguered narrative, just in case

339

If Newco think SFA board member Gary Hughes is likely to be a thorn in their side due to his Celtic supporter credentials, or because he referred to (Oldco) fans as “the great unwashed” in 2006, I suspect they are mistaken.

Hughes was a member of the SFA board which last year decided decline the SPFL’s decision to investigate Oldco’s practices.  What has now happened, due to the Daily Record’s splash on Hughes’ comment this morning, is that he is effectively neutered on the subject of Newco/Oldco.

None of this is likely to impact on the forthcoming action of Rangers licence to compete in European football in 2011, Gary Hughes has no influence there whatsoever.  But it helps create a beleaguered narrative, should matters go against the Rangers group of clubs.  And that lot, great or otherwise, do love a beleaguered narrative.

I think Glibby is the chairman of ,The Engine Room Subsidiary, you know, the holding company that replaced the,er,other thingummyjig thing. You must know it.The thingimybob that no one had ever heard of before 2012.

He is chairman of that. What’s that?,name a previous chairman before 2012 of the aforementioned thingummyjig.

I am sure there must be one.Was there not?

  4. So Sevco try to get their retaliation in first a typical Nazi trick.

Stand to be convicted again via the compliance officer of of guess what? – yes that’s right lying to the SFA.

A ‘glib and shameless’ attempt even by their standards to imply that there an anti Sevco agenda before the punishment.

Did the history include the ability to lie, no wonder they wanted their expert on board SS Sevco.

I am hoping to take advantage of the vast thesaurus of geographical and historical knowledge on the CQN resource. Myself and Mrs H are heading to Germany for this year’s R&R outing.

We have 3 nights in a hotel in Berlin, followed by 4 nights in an apartment in Nuremberg, and finish off with a week in an apartment in Munich, where we will maybe hire a car for a few days.

Any tips or recommendations would be graciously received, and specifically I would like suggestions as to a scenic village/small town to visit by car or train as a day trip from Munich. Any restaurant and/or bar recommendations in either of the three cities would be welcome.

    Thanks in advance…

Yes, it seems they do not like the Regime Change. Sevco will need SFA support above and beyond that the SFA have to Rangers in 2012.

There is an interesting Stewart Regan interview, when the SFA went after Craig Whyte in 2012 and the SMSM were asking why the SFA hadn’t dealt with him earlier…

    – he’s [SR] insisted it was impossible to point the finger of suspicion [at CW] while the Gers seemed happy to have him…

Now what a statement by the SFA CEO…

Maybe Mr Maxwell isn’t so malleable

Re the article about players at the World Cup, the document in this link explains how clubs are compensated.

From 14 days before the competition until their last day of participation, a clube is paid US$8,530 / about £6,375 per player per day.

We have 4 players (Lustig, Boyata, Gamboa and Rogic) so approx £25,500 * 14 days for preparation = £357,000 The groups period lasts another 14 days so another £357,000.

    Minimum total £714,000 for Celtic.

Rob Roy lost their quarter final 2.0 against Blantyre Vics, a big shock there, as Vics are two divisions below Rob Roy.

Cumbernauld will be at home to Blantyre Vics in the semi.

Good luck to Girvan in the play offs.

Fine we can give them the wee section at CP. 2,300 seatS

If true, then it’ll be 800 tickets they will give us for the corners section. We should reciprocate with a similar amount (in the restricted view corner of CP).

  18. Rangers fans have long called for Celtic’s allocation to be cut at Ibrox and travelling Hoops fans, like the rest of the away supporters, will now be allocated around 800 tickets.

  19. !!Bada Bing!! on

Pardon me bhoys, i never knew that section held so few, i think Sevco might rewiew this….

  20. Might it be possible to buy a ‘second half’ ticket so that Tims can fill the many empty seats when 3,4or 5 nil at half time?

  21. Hunderbirds – there are very good deals on regional rail passes in Germany.

The 2 of you can travel after 9 am or whatever anywhere in Bavaria for 30 Euros total for a day but you can’t go on the fast IC trains.

If you have a beautifully clear day (not worth doing otherwise) and get out early, i would go to Garmisch Partenkirchen (1 hr 20) in the Bavarian Alps and take the cog train to the top of the Zugspitz – 2670m or just under 10,000 ft for fantastic views.

Interesting that Sevco have cut our allocation. I would expect Celtic will reciprocate. My only concert about this is that the £49’ers ? will need to find another stick to beat people with.

I concur with Gene regarding Nürnberg plenty of places to seas well as Munich.

    Munich restaurants and bars:

Haxnbauer Restaurant is a must unless you are vegetarian. https://www.kuffler.de/de/restaurant/haxnbauer/

My favourite bar is the Andechser am Dom next to the Marienkirche – good food and drink. https://www.andechser-am-dom.de

Schneider Brauhaus on Tal no 7. https://www.schneider-brauhaus.de

A visit to the Viktualienmarkt beer garden is worth a visit, just a stone’s throw from Marienplatz.

The Englischer Garden and the Chinesischer Turm with its beer garden, food and oompah band.

That’ll keep you going in Munich.

Another day visit worth doing, 2 hours on the train and what a scenic route, is Salzburg in Austria. You can get a return Bayern ticket on the train (reduced rate) despite the fact that Salzburg is not in Bayern.
